How rare is a Peugeot 304? Does it have any classic status or value? Any cars running? Aby guesses on how many we had/have?
TIA

Well there are enthusiasts who do crave for these....yes..they were not very popular because of certain things as @MrCat stated...but that by itself seems to be a reason for its desirability. At the end of the day it is totally a matter of personal preference.

Bought a Mitsubishi Jeep 4dr5 (J20D-J24).
Being restored as we speak. Will open a thread soon.

@iRage ?

Guys, any place to get a car inspected in kandy? Audi specifically. Thank you
-
Guys, whats the procedure to get a "Special No" when you register a new car? Plus can it be done on a car purchased with a finance?
-
There used to be a system where you can get a vanity plate of your choice (provided a vehicle is not already registered under that number) at the time of registration. It was valid for 5 years only. After that, you have to change it to the regular number that you should have received at the time of first registration.
Now there is a new system in place where you can reserve only the number in advance with the ongoing sequence of English letters. The payment depends on how far ahead the number you want to reserve is. You can pay the amount and reserve the number before you actually apply for registration. Unlike the old system, this doesn't expire in 5 years.

Saw a BMW X7 M sport for sale on the quick site for 58.8 million rupees. My life savings are targeted at less than half that! ?
Any idea what pulls in that much money?
(Buyers must have other luxuries, etc right?)
The US surely isn't!

@fiat fan thought so, even a top spec X7 shouldn't be nowhere near the exclusivity of a Bentley.
Btw anybody finds the new BMWs eye pleasing?
-
Shish.. 625? That's too much extra dough. Could get a nice GTR and bank the rest for a family hauler that offers the necessary luxury without the exorbitant pricing.
Also @speed8 exterior looks good but the interior is where it's at?
-
Ok peops. I got a story for u gents.
I used to have an Audi A4 B5 since 09' upto 2014. Loved that car to bits. Gone through more men than a maradana hooker, but less than a model in SL. Treated badly, not run for years,j***a$$ owner etc etc.
Not the base base model, had a few options in it. But it was a 96' model year(the b5 came out in 95) so it was kinda old and sad looking because just after two years, the 97' came up with a facelift that really put it out there(bastards).
Like 5 watunoth ithuru tika danawa. Sub karan yanna yaluwane. Lol. Lemme just open a thread, its gonna be a long one.
But let me leave this here...

Soo, The Alfa deal fell apart. ?

That's what I meant with 'somehow'.. ?
I checked the ad, it's been up for sale for more than that nah? Also, must appreciate his attitude to keep such a car and stick to that price. No other alfas for sale so far right? The neighbor next door is a Nissan fanatic and has a Y32 Cedric. I could ask him if he knew any Y33s up for grabs.
2.5 mil is a nice budget really.
Might be a bit of a pain to live with depending on your personality.. A WRX GC8?
A Classy BMW E36, even better if you could grab one of the two 318is here.
Sweet W124s are in your budget too.
I know you said no econoboxes but the Swift Sport is a hot box. 125hp and just 1000kg to tug around. 0-100 under 8 sec. Perfect for our country roads except it's a bit too stiff. All this provided you could find one for sale. If not, a mint Glanza V if you are into hot hatches but I think it's too small for you.
The Kia Cerato may be just a Korean econobox but its quick alright and looks smart.
What about a JZX90/JZX100? The 110 cars look like an upscale version of the older premios so meh. Can't even guess the bloody thing has a Beams engine in it. Whats your idea on the Verossa?
So many options lol
-
Well..I am pretty sure the Docs cars will be way over your budget..irrespective of the "ehmmm" factor.
For your budget you are probably looking at a stock 90/100 series Grande or something...but even then the good ones now fall in the the 2.5 - 3.0 mil bracket
There was a Accord Euro R for sale a few times...that might be worth a look....

Can someone tell me why we have a bunch of spammers popping up?
-
Probably Chinese hackers now bored after being in containment at home and looking for random websites to spam.
But seriously, we get spammers all the time, and moderators delete and ban members as soon as we see them. It does seem like there have been quite a few during the past couple of weeks.@MADZ, have there been any changes in the forum registration process lately? It's been a while since I registered, so I'm not sure how it happens now, but I assume there is an email verification step before people are allowed in?
We encourage members to use the "Report" button (on the bottom of each post) to report them as soon as you see them.

@iRage no worries bro. Will do once I bring her home.
-
@AVANTE hahaha this is a TA bro. Much stiffer and sharper handling. Nothing german though. Still a sailorman ?
-
So I just noticed, we have post approval for any post with a senstive word? When did that happen? And why is "KG" written in sinhala term a red flag?
-
So there is a V8 Jag S type. Tempted to pull the trigger.hmmm

Save your money and wait for something rare to come up in the classifieds. You never know! You got lots of options tbh, search patiently.
When I mentioned Alto, I actually meant the hardcore japanese Suzuki Alto Turbo Works: Recaros, 5-speed manual, stiff suspension, turbocharged & intercooled with 15" Enkei wheels. If one can come across an SWK tuned one (Suzuki Works Kurume), its an even better treat! The best part? The whole package weights at 670kg (small, under 700kg, FWD...classic mini anyone?)
An HKS BFV, a 4-point harness, 175 width sport tyres & a nice chip for the ECU and it will easily keep up with anything less than a 2.0L. I live for the little things in life?
Indian alto is another level though lol. My uncle used to cram all 6 members of his family including his belly into one and go on a trip to nuwara eliya. No, Im not bluffing.

I follow the philosophy of "drive a slow car fast"..in srilanka its very very hard to push the limits on anything above 1500cc. Nothing like driving on the edge!
Also, I have seen people the japanese get north of 150hp out of kei cars and my objective is just half of that. Once I do get bored, I would move on to something bigger. Either a 660cc or a 1300cc starlet GT.
I also have a japanese moped with a 5hp, aluminum, fuel injected, liquid cooled engine of 50-LOLs-CC. And I was expected to get bored but suprisingly I've never been bored with it! But the power is hell lacking when you need to do some overtakes on the A1.

I see ur from mawanella. I used to live in kadugannawa few years back. Howdy neighbor

It's a mix of both the mawanella like climate & the kandy like hill-climate. Have a few friends there. Once you get used to it, life can be boring wherever you are, just have to find a way to do something that makes us happy and makes our existence matter at the same time. Have you moved to the U.S. with your whole fam?
-
Guy I know has a Jag X type and S type. He wants to sell one. Should I pull the trigger?
It will be a weekender. KMPL/market / not C numbers and all that typical jargon is not relevent for me.
I can put 200,000 aside for repairs every year.( Got others cars that burn my wallet ?)

Was locked out and finally got the account reset! Been reading all the way though

Anybody in the stock market ? Trying to enter myself! I just want a good explanation on how it works. Youtube didn't help and also Im interested to know our peoples views and thoughts on it. Thanks as always...
-
In the Sri Lankan context or stock markets in general?
If you want to learn how stock markets work and gain theoretical knowledge about investing, there's a lot of books. Start with for dummies and move on with Beating the street - Peter Lunch, intelligent investor- Benjamin Graham. There are text books (I don't know the names) if you want thorough knowledge.
If you want some practical knowledge in investing in the Colombo stock exchange, (CSE) go meet a stock broker. Central depository system (CDS) conducts one day workshops for investors. More info here https://www.cse.lk/home/banners
Doesn't take much time or money to get started, mind you, it's a different ballgame in CSE. Many pump and dump schemes with manipulative big players.

Am I the only person who thinks that ads on the “Quick” site are way too overpriced? Not just Cars, but most items posted...

Guys.
How good is a 2000-2005 pajero /Montero ,off road?
Like a v6 petrol version.
Can it do what the 120 prado does?

Stock 110 would do wonders, even at mud bogging, will need a good set of tyres though. unless they are thoroughly done up or in a new state, reliability will be a concern. Comfort is out of the question though, if you are planning to go into mud, take another backup car as well because even a competition level off roader can get stuck given the right conditions
-
Guys, How come the Alto Lapin hasn't hit the shores that much? Looks nice and the interior is pleasant. Much better than the boxy one. Also I feel like lowering it and “do some upgrading” would do wonders
-
Hey guys! Whats the best Kei car for about 3.3m ? Its for an old lady. Dont like the wagon R. Thanks

The Mira is OK - a bit under-powered but ok for an old lady. The cheapest would be the Kei Alto.
Hideous as it may look something like a spacia might be something the elderly prefer as it is relatively easy to get in and out of the car. [P.S : I think it's pricier than the Wagon R - i don't know the price of it just a thought that it would be good for an elderly person ]
The best looking one would be the EK IMO.
Non Kei - I don't think you can get an unreg vitz for 3.3. A passo maybe for around 3.4... Axia maybe?

@alpha17 It sits lower than the Audi, so better comfort and more car-like. But I prefer the Audi, because the driving feel is much better and it feels like a suv. The Lexus has more tech inside along with the safety stuff(God I hate that beeping), which my mother likes. I prefer minimal tech. Just me the road and 15 Bose speakers for me. ?
I honestly cant see any difference in build quality. Both are top notch.
But surprsingly, almost everything on the lexus is optional(and very costly). The base doesnt even have gas struts for the hood ??♂️.
It starts from 31k USD and all the way to 46k.. ours has all the options you ever need and it was 37k.

@MrCat Its the 2 liter NA. Dont like them hybrid stuff, it drives boring as it is!
We got this at launch. So there was no hybrid at that time anyway. Sadly AWD was only on the hybrid, but we dont really need that in Cali.
-
Anybody else living away from SL and missing it badly? I rather be in dsi pol gaha lakuna slippers ,eating a kottu and riding the 138. than be away from SL,wearing gucci and driving bmws!drinking starbucks!
F u to that asswit who gave that Aussie part last week. Shove that F’ing UTE up ur cucky ass! Begone THOT.

I joined this forum in 2012 when I only had a rusty mountain bike with no brakes! Learned lots and finally obtained my dream. Didn't think of resale, fuel or what not. Just followed my heart!
But sad to see the newer generation of car buyers, makes me weep hard. Does anybody even care about driving the damn thing anymore? instead of resale and fuel!
This is not showing off. Just an Appreciation to AL and the community!
PS. Its a 2 Liter Turbo with 200 horses and still does over 13kmpl city, so go f*** off with ur premios and vezis!

Nice one.! Great Buy.!
Drove this last Saturday. IMHO the current A4 is the best in class when it comes to technology and interior.! The Audi Virtual Cockpit is a ripper.! Driving Dynamics are a pretty average but. Its like a big sedated Golf GTi. My mind says A4 but the heart keeps going back to the BMW 3 series. Trying to decide between the two..
