  1. Ahh the Honda FD’s. Nice cars. Feels almost like a Euro. Good to drive, nice to sit in. Red looks best imho. We had the FD1 ages ago. Prices have sky rocketed. We bought for 2.8 mil somewhere around 2013. Stafford was kinda pricey tbh. Interior is ages ahead of the lancer. Plus bit more powahhh than the lancer too. I found some crustyAF pics 😅
  2. Sad what 6-7mil gets you now. Like @iRagesaid, lots of junk cars out there. what about an Every van? I know I know… Its a bomba model and not the coolest ride for an 18YO. You can get a 2015 and up model for about 4.5million. Very reliable, cheap to run, can fit about 7 people. Parts are priced ok. Fuel consumption can range from 10-20kmpl depending on where and how it’s driven. Perfect for the “boys” and enough space for the “girls”. 😉 plus you can do a side hustle via the taxi apps too. More cash for booze and grass 😉 it’s tiny, so driving is easy, repairs are cheap and can be done asap. Body parts are available in case of an oopsie. Insurance should be cheaper than on a 7 mil car. Resale value is great. Can get a nice wagon for your money, but it’s not worth it. Don’t waste so much money on over inflated crook vehicles. Buy something for cheap. Oh yeah. Every’s are almost repellent to garages. You’ll almost never even glance at a garage. Drive safe and try not to go mafia style cos they can topple easily.
  3. Welcome to my world. Mobil esp 5w30 1 liter was 4980 in jan. Now it’s 8000 a liter. 😢 same place too. Take it easy bro, Thats life. Take it to stafford. These new cars with sensors are a pain to fix. I think it’s 10 years for SLIC. plus if your registration book says “reconditioned” you might not get the full amount. Anyway insurance companies try to not pay you the full when- you go for the agents or go for brand new parts. Even with newer/fancy cars they try to pull this.
  4. D*r*z has been ok so far from my experience. 2 day shipping 99% of the time. They have lots of euro car parts surprisingly. Most of them cheap and cheerful. Lot’s of BMW and Peugeot parts. Plus cash on delivery. You guys got played intentionally noh. They told you they were grease monkeys🐒 but you’ll didn’t listen noh.
  5. Take it to stafford if the insurance pays you. Most of these “experts” with big names will charge you top dollar for it,but the job done is subpar. SLIC is ok from what I hear(I have mine with them too,but praying to God that I don't have to use them. Another member took his car to a very reputable Honda Repair shop and he payed close to 8 lacks for a very shoddy job. I’ll link that thread below. I never had personal experience with Stafford when it comes to body work, but at least you can hold them responsible. The “expert” fellows start using the “yako” and “kunu harapa” once you pay them. They also make it a point to shame you on social media for there stupidity. Read this thread-
  6. Mitsubishi can be quite pricey from my experience. I guess you are right about the cost being shared by fewer customers. But surely Jap Genuine parts can’t be the same as euro genuine parts, can it? P.S. I just found out it costs 350k for a high pressure fuel pump on a Kia sorento. An injector is 125k. What in the f… @hrm care to confirm this bro?
  7. It was actually about 4-5 months back. They usually have “discounts” on them. OEM for the 508 is still 32k at panchi (all 4). Does that mean I recommend Carmart? Hell no. Fun story- I was at carmart around December looking for a tappet-cover change. They wanted 104k. I told them to go f off and went to the resident pug parts guy in Panchi. While I was there, this happened- service advisor from carmart calls panchi guy: .name. we have a customer who needs a tappet cover, how much? panchi guy-48k sir. Service advisor- ok I’ll send a guy to collect it. *Hangs up* so yeah. They can be scumbags at times. But mostly they are on par with the jap agents. Specially stafford. I obviously just go to panchi and get it done for even cheaper.
  8. wow. You guys spend way more money than I do at Carmart for my 508. I changed my brakes(genuine) for 25k with labour. Panchi had them for 16k. Plus even the other repairs were mostly cheaper. Not bashing you guys or anything, but I’m kinda freaked out at the money spent in the new Civics. Then again when I had a FD1 many years ago, Stafford did quote kinda crazy prices. But the new civics need the same money as a euro @iRage whats your take on this? Jap cars been as expensive to maintain as the euros.
  9. Wbt something like this? I have it in my car and it’s been good so far. My phone is large and very heavy with a leather cover (magnet placed inside the cover), but so far no issues. Plus I also drive in nasty kandy pothole roads and the pug isnt the softest in them roads. I seriously have no idea what that app does. (ok nvm its like the MB/BM car performance thingy as per google). You can do how I get my stats. If the wife’s yelling, its performing good!
  10. WBT screen mirroring? Had a Kenwood which did that (still needs a phone yes). tricky indeed. Try shi motors. They might be able to hook you up. Or just be like us poor blokes who has- 1. no idea what the torque app is. 2. Hangs the phone to the dash via a mount. 😅
  11. Search “Shi Motors” on Instagram or FB. They do all kinds of these upgrades on modern euros and what nots. Very professional work and very well done. I see so many BMWs with infotainment upgrades done through them. Few Elite forum members here also vow by Shi Motors. I am not paid or sponsored, but I’ve seen their work and it’s brilliant. Probably the best place in Sri Lanka for euro car “Tech” upgrades and what-not. Of course do the due diligence before committing. I’m sure the guys above can hook you up bro. Personally though, I don't like the big lcd android screens our guys tack in. Shit quality and the display looks terrible. Also the tech used is ancient. Being a Samsung guy, even the highest end latest android flagships start to lag and go to hell within an year. Also these android sets have very low storage, that means you wont be able to update or get new apps in. Get a Kenwood or any reputable brands double din with apple car play/android auto. Thats all you ever need. Cheaper, looks much better and lasts longer. Also the sound quality on these Chinese android sets are terrible. If you never listened to something good you wont feel it. But if you know you know. Also stop blocking the AC vents with these big-ass screens. You’ll hate life on a hot day in traffic. (There may be high quality android sets, but they are usually too expensive and not worth it.)
  12. Ammo thel bauser owa!! jk 😅 Nice car dude. I like this gen more than the newest gen.
  13. The guy is hell bent on his price. He’s like this looks and ride like a Ferrari, while being cheap to drive like a Jap. It’s owned by a spare parts shop. Not the type to buy one for enthusiast reasons. Restoring will cost minimum 2mil, the 300z goes for big money globally.
  14. MAJOR OT : @Devinda_Z it’s back! 6.8m 🙉 Why am I totally getting the f*** it, I’ll buy and restore this vibe!? (Pull pinance 🥲) Should I? How much you think this is really worth like this? (Sorry for OT. but since we talked about this before here, thought might as well)
  15. Design fault of the 1.6 engines. Rebuilds can cost 400k. Most were replaced free by the agent. Best get it checked out.
  16. Some engine’s had issues which made it go boom in about 60k kms. The SL pug fb group is very informative.
  17. Need legal advice!

I have an old car with me thats been in the family for ages. It originally had the “book” and now has a green paper for the registration.

We just noticed is has a few errors in it.

1.The Name of Make is incorrect by 1 letter (O instead of E)

    2. The name of model Has N, Instead of L.

    3.seating capacity is “-1” (it’s a 2 door, 4 seater)

    4. The tire size says 560x15? I don’t know if this is an issue.

It’s not had any issues with cops or anything. We do the yearly registration/insurance with no issues. It's a 1975, so no eco-test.

Can we get these errors fixed? Also whats the legal standing right now?

We have it since 2006. Kind of in a rush,as I just started restoring it!

    oh btw it’s a 1975 VW Golf-L “Swallowtail”

(2 Door 1.1L and quite rare I’m told)

    Thanks guys!

I say its not worth the hassle, forget about it since you're already getting your annual registrations done without any issue. restore it and enjoy it :)

Thank you for the replies guys. You guys cleared up my doubts. I guess I’ll just let it be.

A color change is in order. It’s blue on the car and book. But I want something unp.😅

      It says Golf-N, insted of Golf-L @matroska.

      Really appreciate all of you!

A thank you gift for you all…

It definitely wasn’t us that did this abomination!

It’s a long story. But its back with us now.

It needs a LOT of work done.

But I think there are only 2/3 “swallowtails” in the Country. Also only about six “2 door” cars here. So I think it’s worthy!

  18. What do you guys think about the show off culture that is going strong nowadays? People(mostly young kids) posing with expensive rides and even bashing other less fortunate folks seem to be the norm now!? Instagram of-course is pure cancer. Am I the only one who likes to stay low key nowadays?

I don't mind seeing people I follow posting their flexes on Instagram, I mean clearly if it brings joy to them why not?

WHAT THE F*** IS UP WITH KIDS PUTTING SPONSORED ADS THOUGH

Like the reason sponsored ads is there is to promote businesses or a product, these kids PAY to get their portraits and 'thirst trap' (or so they think) pics just for clout and everytime I see some dumb picture with some cringe caption (possibly when they google 'Cool Captions for Instagram') I lose faith in humanity a bit.

Humility is a lost trait on the younger generations.  Yes...showing off sucks whether it is with cars

There is nothing wrong with posing with ones pride and joy....what is cancerous is the intent behind it. If one poses next to an expensive car..fine...especially if you worked hard for it and it is a symbol of your success.  However, most of them actually do seem to do it just to show how much better they are than others or to show what entitled brats they are.

This does seem to be an outcome of misguided education (not that our education system is stellar anyway) and new money.

  19. Can anybody give me a complete list of Car detailing products that are actually needed when doing up a car?

Wow. Thats a big list. DIY or specialist? I’m guessing this stuff is not cheap.

    4. iRage

      iRage

Well...you can start off as DIY and before you know it you will have pretty much everything a Specialist will have :) (definitely more than what most "detailers" in SL will have...even with the DIY stuff).

Start off with a good polish and a wax/sealant for the body, trim restore, dash/interior cleaner and some good microfibre towels....

Right now you probably do not want to get a full on paint restorer (you will unnecessaruly thin out the paint, etc...) You could get a clay bar as well...but I would stay away from it (I usually do although I put it in my list). No matter what is said and done clay does leave swirls even with tons of good lube (it is just that the swirls get masked off with the polishing you will follow the claying up with).

  20. Very true. I think the VIN starting with J for Japan made is applicable to Honda(all makes really). If you are keen to find out!
  21. Any idea why the forum never updates like it used to?

    One word= Instagram.
  23. Some say it’s Thailand. Stafford says Japan. The quality is very high though, similar to german levels. So I don’t think that matters. It’s a very solid built car. Yes they went from FD1-FD4-FD3. About 10 manual FD1’s were imported(they pull like the Udarata Manike train). FD4 is slower, plainer, much more basic and honestly almost the same economy as the FD1. The beauty in the FDs are that 1.8 motor and those features, makes it close to a euro. If you are spending above 4mil, I would say get something nicer. The FD1 is nice, but not 4mil plus nice! On the topic of overpriced cars- most cars don’t get sold for months, try to haggle. Don’t pay ridiculous money to scumbags.
