  1. Can holy thou make Peugeot’s more reliable? Keep the 5 million usd. Just make the damn thing run goddamnit. @AVANTE nadda bro?
  2. I’m actually looking at non oem options. The stock bulbs are not my favorite. It doesn’t have to be super cheap. But not too outrageous. @iRage are these bulbs universal? Example the H7 xenon bulb on ebay, can it be used across any car that takes H7 and has xenon?
  3. We actually did have a hybrid fd3 alongside the fd1 that belonged to a cousin. The fd3 is not known for its durability or its economy. IF you find a good example, it’ll be ok. But other than that, it’s not worth it. Most in Lanka are hacked and the cell replacement almost never works. An aqua I know got cells replaced, but even that did not last long. It was replaced by the famous cell guy in the gampaha side. Also on the FD1s with the hps, yes it leaked every 10 years. Worth it because the eps was worse to drive. Also a plus for the FD1. Resale and maintenance is easier since most people don’t like to buy or repair hybrids. but thats just my personal experience.
  4. What happened to the good ol days when you bought that halogen from the handiya kade, for 200 rupees and plugged it on the side of the street. My 508 also is showing a weaker light on one side. Cost seems about same as @K.o.N.o.S Quoted. Plus mine is even harder to find. @Sir Lancerlot sir care to find me a bulb that fits? It's a H7 Xenon.
  5. FD1 is the best (unless you find a fd2) FD1- 1.8L engine. Good power and good economy. Around 8kmpl city and 14kmpl outstation. Has options like paddle shifters and sunroof. FD2- it’s the type R. Very rare and very expensive. I imagine you know what the type R is. FD3- hybrid. Battery is bit weak. Not a big gain financially because money saved in petrol will be sent on the hybrid bits. There was a member here who had one. Only model to have 8 airbags IIRC. FD4- basic and underpowered. 1.6L engine thats not that fun, little slow and not that economical overall. 9.5 city and 12kmpl outstation. Car too heavy for that engine. Find a manual FD1. Best economy and power!

them wheels! We discussed these wheels about a year back on the trivia thread if I remember correctly.

Those wheels are pure sexx. Italians can really design can't they? Although the quality is crap.

I actually prefer the 156 wheels bit more. Very nostalgic feeling!

  8. Speedo might be off abit. Other than that the suspension might be affected. But Dont quote me on that. @iRage is the best guy for these questions.
  9. Ok now that IS concerning. I know personally that the STR brand coolant is pure dyed water. My mech had a Caltex dealer and he proved this to me. Very nice. Not many Facelifts in the Island. Too early for a facelift (delivery took 9 months in 2011 bnew) and a tax hike kept it rare. Hmm why is it bent like that? Bumper dent? Anyway good you got it fixed. Love the chestnut interior. Tints done too. A nice detail with a sealant coating wax(not a full coating) should keep it shiny. OT- See how nicer life is when you stop worrying about petty sh💩t like resale, fuel economy and other bs. To think op was going to buy a onlyne busynes ontapernr Civic FK. No offense to @matroska or the others. They were very worth at under 7 mil bnew. But 125 for a yakada heena tiktok special with 90k? Hell nah! Anyone decided to stay in Lanka with a 20 mil cash flow for a new car is not thinking rationally. So go right ahead and live wild.
  10. Congratulations 🎊🍾 See bro! That wasn’t too hard was it? Facelift model? In my experience, most of the times I think of something and do the opposite when it comes to cars and even life. I research on buying an ecobox thats easy to live with, goes and buys an Alfa Romeo 156. Pictures or as @iRage says, it never happened. Also wait what!? You replaced the radiator? Why? 58k is too early for a radiator change unless used by a dumbass. Tires, just buy a good korean or jap brand. ALL THE Korean cars in the US come with Kumho or Hankook. They are good tires. Don't listen to the dumbasses who say get Michelin/Continental, Too expensive and too much tire for a Sorento.
  11. Singapore imported anything is crap tbh. Them dodgy iPhones and ex taxi cars did nothing but cause mayhem. Also yes, most cefiro’s are owned by dbags who just have never heard of maintenance. Max our jap import cefiro did was 11kmpl on a trip around the island. Not too heavy footed. It’ll squeeze 8 city, if you drive like a real kuna with no ac.
  12. Cefiro’s aren’t bad cars. The majority of owners are dipshits. Cheap buy and ride fellas who bought it for “pesteege” and cos their favorite 121 was unreachable. They need bit more maintenance than a common ecobox jap. But the ride and comfort make up for it. Plus safer and has few comforts ecoboxes don’t.
  13. Carmart if warranty is still active. No personal experience with this other place. But have heard they were ok but pricey. General service is actually reasonable at carmart. Plus it boosts resale for some reason in Lanka. Don’t stick to one place. Always look around with pugs. I actually wrote a thread about the general cost. Here-
  14. So you bought the 5008 brand new? Keep it. Most Montero’s are driven by imbeciles. Bad maintenance done and not in good shape. Plus the maintenance cost is very similar. Super Diesel cost is the same as super petrol, so no savings there either. Also the montero is very basic. I mean very. Compared to the Pug, it’s a dinosaur. Maintain and drive the 5008 for few more years and upgrade to a new suv then. Only reason to sell and buy a montero is if you do heavy off-roading.
  15. 1.Most Lankans are not honest. 2. Go to the District Secretariat and tell them the story. Might be able to get another copy. I had an old car with no license for 5 years. The previous license was also missing. But the lady at the desk did not care. Paid and got it updated. I think all island licenses are done at every “kachcheri”
  16. This one guy on the forum pushed me away from reliable Audi's, to extremely terrifying Peugeot's.

Now the man is trying to buy a March k11 and retire from the scene. And the scumbag is offering a 406 executive before he leaves.

Must be an NGO fella, trying to ruin a hela yakka-putha in Kadugannawa who just wants to drive a reliable car for once. You shall not have yo way mister.

@iRageHow about gay slaughter? Considering thats what someone will think seeing our hour long call logs.

      lol. Im back.

Ayo wtf. No homo man. Can’t trust these mount lavinia buggers can we? They always wanna mount it seems.

  17. still got it @iRage ? would love a stable update from you.
  18. Every JDM fanboy now- 2JZ karan nadda. Even if its a liteace!
  19. Moral of this thread- OP is indecisive without telling me he is indecisive! I usually just go see a few cars and just buy what I fall in love with. Usually it’s thirsty, unreliable and something nobody would dare buy. See if that works for you.
  20. Screw that. 14 mil for a 2008 Toyota? Iyaa alright bro listen, I’ve seen you asking a bunch of questions about sunroofs, ground clearance and what not. If you can afford 14mil, you can afford to maintain it. Just go get a 2012+ Audi A6 TDI (2L turbo diesel) and start enjoying. It has everything you, your son and your side chicks will ever need. Can easily bag a 2013-14 mint example for abt 12.5 million. Parts and maintenance will cost the same as the crown if done at agents. Plenty of well regarded places outside for cheaper. Very durable and easy to live with. Stick to diesel as prices are almost similar to petrol. Diesel VW group engines are golden. On the tdi- fuel 10kmpl easy. Can go upto 20 kmpl on highways. Real world figures. No BS. We have a petrol 3.0 supercharged version that does 7ish if you keep it very light. still looks super good and will do so. Try to bag a 2014 if possible for that all important C number plate and facelift. there’s an all black example on the quick site with the number-2222. No idea if its good, but it looks clean and will give you an idea. surprisingly the prices asked now are the same pre Kaputas hitting the planes. best 14 mil spent. Much better than that godaya 520d
  21. Looks like I seem to have taken over the title to the only active member with Peugeots. Honourable mention @AVANTE. Hopefully did not miss anyone else. Peugeot offers good value for money and are loaded with toys. but regular maintenance is required and sometimes can be pricey. Very nice to drive safe cars. Not for faint hearted as these do like to throw issues. Mostly electronic issues, which turn out to be easy cheap fixes. but time and expertise is required. NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR A 121/ALLION OWNER LOOKING TO GET "PRESTIGE" ON A BUDGET. SORRY Since I'm bored, I decided to make a comprehensive study on the French fry AKA Peugeot. Covering Peugeots from the 90s to current models. Mainly talked about are 206,406,407,508,3008,5008 as these are common cars for us. Let's start with the Negatives first. Posting in table format for easy reference. PRICES ARE IN LKR AND BASED ON SRI LANKAN RATES AT THE MOMENT. WILL BE CHEAPER OVERSEAS. I will make edits or changes with time if required. I do not take responsibility on anything and claim to be an expert. Compiled from experience and help from Peugeot Technicians. Some of these negatives apply to all Euros and even some modern Japs. Negatives Fixes and avoidance guide Average cost 1 Electronics are questionable Biggest let down. Come to think of it, All euro cars have rubbish electronics. Will leave you stranded more than once if you don't rectify asap. had to learn the hard way. At least the wires don't melt like my Alfa 156. tops at around 100k 2 Complex suspension Good handling and comfy. But like all euros they are expensive and complex. Ride smooth. Slow down for pot holes/bumps. 407 had some fancy suspension and was known to wear out faster. 150k to 500k 3 Interior dislikes hot climate Get good quality tinted(50K) done. Use a windscreen shade when parked. Avoid parking under direct sunlight for extended periods. Replacement parts are actually very cheap. Unlike bmw spares, that cost the sky and melt if you even stare too hard. 50k 4 parts are expensive depending on the location and accessibility In Sri Lanka parts are often more costly and bit low in stock. Malaysia & Dubai stock for cheap. Ali Express.com has OEM parts for cheap with shipping to Sri Lanka. 5 Needs specialised technicians Like all euro cars. Everyday bush mechanics do more harm than good. Company is subpar in Sri Lanka. Prices can be a hit or miss from them. 6 Engines from BMW MINI (Prince THP) are troublesome Fun and very rev happy. sounds good. can do anything from 4kmpl to 15kmpl depending on the driver. Best avoided. If buying. Make sure engine has been overhauled with the corrected parts. HP fuel pump/injectors are known to fail also. Injectors-35k. HP pump-250k. Overhaul cost-400k plus 7 AL4 gearboxes are troublesome. Solenoids are known to fail. Not too hard a fix. Expertise needed. Regular preventive maintenance is key to no issues. 50k 8 Paint can be hit or miss Paint can fade/bubble over time. Rust is also sometimes found. Garage usage is advisable. Company rates are ok. But needs to be micromanaged 16k to 400k 9 Periodic timely maintenance is a must (not a negative, but Lankans think it is) Maintenance must be done on time. Cannot leave behind for later. Esp 5w30 Oil is expensive in Sri Lanka for unfathomable reason. Older cars can use regular synthetic oil and full service cost is on par with japs. Filters are cheap and plentiful. Oil can be bought cheaper overseas. 10k-175k for full service in Sri Lanka Includes gear/brake/coolant fluid change 10 3rd party spare are not common Cheap non oem parts are hard to find and easily perishable. Advice not to use non oem parts. 11 1.2 pure tech engines issues Powerful and fun. Sound good. Will be worn out faster because turbo & small engine works harder than higher capacity engine. This is relevant to all small turbo engines from any manufacturer. Will need overhaul by 200k. ALSO SOME ENGINES HAD TO BE OVERHAULED AROUND 30K DUE TO DESIGN FAULT. DONE FREE AT AGENT UNDER WARRANTY. MAKE SURE THIS WAS DONE BEFORE PURCHASE. 500K UPWARDS 12 3008/5008 Power steering rack Was changed free at agent under warranty. Was partly due to bad driving/roads. CHECK BEFORE PURCHASE 250k upwards RUNNING REPAIRS AND SUCH. Very similar in price to other brands. THIS TABLE IS ACTUALLY FOR 1ST TIME PEUGEOT BUYERS. PRICES ARE NOT SCARY AS THEY SAY. WILL ALSO HELP 206,406,407 OWNERS NO DOUBT. Intervals have been posted after getting recommendations from several experts who work on PEUGEOT. Intervals may vary and should use caution always. May have missed some. This table is for Peugeots from the 90s onward. Part/s Price (LKR) Interval (KMs or time) Advisory TIRES 20k to 75k Depends on tire. Usually 45k kms. Tires cost the same as other Japs & Euros. Use softer tire because suspension can be damaged with hard tires. Dunlops are a good balance between price and quality. Brake pads 7k to 20k Last long really. Usually every 40k kms. Available from 3rd party junk to brembos. My 508 cost 16k a pair in todays prices.oem. not bad at all. 406 and them still cost under 10k. Depends on driving habits. Brake discs 10k to 60k Same as above Unless a stone or something scratches the discs, they last long and don’t screech. Of-couse brakes depend on the driving habits. Any Filter 2k to 5k Every 10k for oil filter. Cabin/Fuel filter every 20k or as advised. Easily found. AUTOGear oil 25k-100k Older pugs I’d say at least every 25k. Newer pugs say lifetime but I’d say every 40k -80k to be sure. Overseas it’s 20K MILES for older pugs and 50-80K MILES for newer. But in Lanka better change bit earlier because of harsh conditions. Lifetime oil is bs. Newer pugs need 4 Litres of gear oil that cost about 80k. Engine oil (older pugs) 10k- 20k For older non turbo cars. every 10k if synthetic or 5k for mineral oil. Cost the same as an average car. No any special recomendations. Engine oil (newer pugs) 50k average 508,3008,5008 and other newer models. Every 10k. Please do this ritually or you will have problems. Esp 5w 30 is recommended. But please check with agent/ booklet to make sure. Mobil 1 or Total is recommended. AC GAS 10k to 75k Re-gas as neccesary. or check every 2 years. R-134A (or HFC-134a) for most cars before 2016. Cost peanuts to gas. The post 2016 onwards it was mainly R-1234YF (or HFO-1234yf) gas. Now that’s expensive. About 50k usually. Check under hood to confirm type. This Is also the same as any brand. Clutch @AVANTE I need help on this Brake fluid 5k Every 2-3 years is what’s followed in Lanka. So far no horror stories. If you use brakes a lot due to racing or traffic. Better go case by case basis. COOLANT 25k max Every 5 years. Almost never changed in Lanka. Some might change even sooner. Water is not ok. Use a reputed brand. STR sold in supermarkets is water with green dye. Ask me how I know. SPARK PLUGS 2k to 6k each Pug recommends 45K kms. Can attest to that. Cleaning and checking won’t hurt I’d say. Ignition Coils 10k upwards each Check every 20k. Lankans change when busted only. Usually can run for 5 years. Buy and keep from overseas as is very cheap there. Battery 40k to 125k Battery prices are crazy now. Used to be half this. I’d say with prices now, run it dry. Don’t let that mfr die. Expensive af. My 508 cost me 68k for a new brand. Amazon is about 90k. Shock absorbers. 15k to 45k Inspection is the best identifier Wide variety. Can even be rebuilt which I don’t prefer. But not too bad really. Axle oil seals 25k leaks gear oil. common issue after about 10 years. easy fix needs some disassembly to fix. so better to use qualified technician. to be updated. ( WARMLY WELCOME TO ALL COMMENTS, SUGGESTIONS, CRITICISM ETC. 😊 )
  22. Brand new they gave 5.5kmpl city. Max it did was 9 kmpl no matter how or where. search the forum, there was another guy who had one in AL. Hybrid Battery cost is 600k up. other than that solid car.
  23. Quick look on the ad sites say they are advertised at around 2.3 million. Realistic moving prices should be around 2 mil. Plus these are not sought after cars. Specially with the fuel prices, not many want these. Also manual will actually decrease the price even further because people who buy these saloons prefer auto. I’d say it’s worth 1.8 if you bargain right.
