  1. yessir, I installed it.. got the filter from here.. it was $9.35 back when I got it though :-) Btw, this filter is not the one in the tank.. this is a separate filter that's connected in the middle of the fuel line somewhere near the drive side rear door; it was pretty blocked when I changed it around 80k km..
  2. HRS, I was trying to get a fuel filter for my Mitsu Galant 2005, and had the same prob. The agents said something like 11k and there was only one unit in their Galle outlet! I ordered the part online and got it for around 3k (with customs duty). Find your exact part number on this site .. and then check for it by part number on ebay or amayama.com or www.fitinpart.sg... i got mine from the last one. If you cannot find the part number, find the exact model number (it should be on your car's VIN plate) and I can try to track the filter down for you.
  3. rayman, I bought once off ebay, but shipping was more than the item's cost :-) Check out Mohamed mahuthoon (the auto paint shop) near slave island. They have PU seam sealer. I've bought once from them too. But the chap I asked didnt know what it was! I basically pointed it out in their glass cabinet and asked for it. But AC paul is bound to have a better choice of stuff.
  4. Hoonigan, I've restored a couple of seats to my satisfaction with this product : SEM classic coat.. just google it up.. the coating is flexible, and does not rub off.. I've got a Mitsu Galant with a leather interior, so the quality of the leather is nowhere near BMW. The rear seat was scuffed up a bit, and the passenger too.. fixed those up. But the driver's seat had a couple of rips, so I got that re-upholstered in leather from an independant chap who was recommended to me. SEM classic coat has really held up for over an year now.. If you've got the time, and the inclination :-) , go through this thread for inspiration .. http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-forum/t-162477.html
  5. Hi K119, I don't know if Etul Kotte is too far for you. But if it's not, I can totally recommend this AC joint (called Deep Freeze) in Etul Kotte.. If you turn in to kotte rd from parliament rd. then it's about 100 metres or so, before the Cargills supermarket. you can't miss it. I've taken 3 cars myself, and sent about a 5 friends there, and they've done good jobs on each ride. Check for the parts you need with them. The owner himself looks in on each job.. his name's Deepal.. if you do go, and you don't get a good impression, please reply back on the forum.. and no, i have not invested in this business :-) just happy to spread the good news..
  6. Sierra Charlie, sorry for the delay.. can't email u the workshop manual coz gmail is limiting at 20 mb or something.. so uploaded to dropbox.. get it from here. The Haynes manual is a hardcopy.. tel me which sections u want and I'll scan it and send..
  7. Thanks Sierra Charlie.. Those 2 links u posted show an IACV that can be pulled out independently. It's basically a stepper motor. That's not the case on our engines; the stepper motor isn't available separately, u gotta replace that whole metal assembly (it's on this link, go to page 2, and it's 07707).. i already went down that path and bought that exact same thing shown on your ebay link :-) and it doesnt fit :-) it's still sitting on a shelf.. I've got the workshop manual to our JDM version if you want btw.. and the Hayne's manual.. Thanks for your suggestions on the tuneup machan.. and if u do the DOHC swap pls do let me marvel at your engine bay sometime.. :-) good luck!!
  8. I saw this post only after I had in reply to sierra charlie's earlier comment about needing an IACV. Komi, did u get an IACV for a Galant (4g63 engine) in SL? If so, pls do tell me where tech motors is, and is it the same as this (sorry about the long url) : http://www.camskill.co.uk/m8b0s2314p6649/MITSUBISHI_OE_GENUINE_PARTS_SERVICING_PARTS_TUNING_SPARES_and_SERVICE_ACCESSORIES_-_Idle_Speed_Controller_-_Stepper_Motor_-_Mitsubishi_Lancer_Evolution_5_6_CP9A
  9. Sierra Charlie, if you need the IACV, that's a bit of pain. I'm also on the lookout for one. The mitsu product code is MD614921 and the thing costs like Rs 90,000 at Unit#d Mot#rs. Replacements were available on ebay for about USD 50 some time ago, but I'm having trouble finding anything that cheap now. There are a few available in US (as it's the same engine on the evo) for about USD 100. On the same note, I had trouble with mine after I got a tuneup done. The service manual (which i didnt know about at the time) says not to spray any carb cleaner into the IACV. I guess that has happened and the idle was a bit all over the place. I took it apart and checked the resistance of the coils (there are 3 if i remember correctly) and one was way off. After a thorough cleanup, it was reading within normal limits. I've been running with it like that for a couple of years now, and thankfully it's holding out. Let me know if you do manage to get your hands on a IACV. What sort of trouble are u having with yours? perhaps i can help you out..
  10. Thanks for the replies, everyone! Much appreciated.. Like I said, my friend's already sold the car. So now the ball's in the buyer's court. If, say an accident occurred which required the replacing/repairing of that panel where the number is engraved, I wonder what's the legally correct thing to do. Engrave the number again yourself? or..? any thoughts..
  11. Hi all, A friend of mine recently sold a Hyundai Atos. The buyer has called back saying that the chassis number plate which is riveted on is there, but the number is not stamped on to to the body. Just wanted to ask, is the the chassis number always stamped on to the body on every car? If there are any Atos owner out there, could you please open up your hood and double check and let me know. Thanks all, Kasun
  12. Dilrukds, If you want to find the exact part number, try this site out : http://japancars.ru/index.php?route=catalog/nissan .. go to the second tab (model) and select your model, and you'd get the parts diagrams. Site is accurate, as long as you get your model right. Hope it helps.
  13. @Rumesh88 Thanks!! i checked out their site, and man do they carry an awesome range of stuff!! :-)
  14. Hi all, Just wondering.. Can you buy things like these anywhere in SL? Preferably in Colombo. Anti-seize compound Thread locking compound Anti squeal paste (for brakes) Dielectric grease Brake cleaner White lithium grease Red rubber grease/silicone grease Our local mechanics rarely use any of these things, except for the higher end garages, I guess. I've got down most of them the hard way (ebay it to someone who's coming in to SL and politely ask them to squeeze into their luggage). Wurth brake cleaner is available, but only in the big spray cans. Anything else that any one of you know of would be of help.. Thanx all..
