  1. Toyota Wigo has an engine called 1KR-Ve which has a higher compression ratio and the user's manual instructs to use RON 95. I think most of the octane boosters are out of stock. Currently there is another local octane booster called Fekron, I am not sure about the quality of it.
  2. "Gorilla Muna" model in Sri Lankan context
  3. In the facebook fan page of Wagon R and other Lankan pages on on motor mechanics, some people posted about their issues with their WagonR. It was introduced just 3 years ago and most of them were imported as zero mileage ones, having issues this early surely not a good sign with reliability.
  4. Be careful with maintenance, some cars already had problems with sludge so early?
  5. Axia should be the best option for normal usage.
  6. Vitz uses 1KR-FE Wigo uses 1KR-VE (higher compression ratio and the same engine as Axia facelift and Bezza) 92 is enough for vitz but not for Wigo
  7. Yes with improved crumple zones newer cars absorb the brunt better than old heavy cars for passenger, but still with all the bells and whistles of safety features, momentum is still a key factor of safety. Kei cars < normal cars < Jeeps< Lanka Ashok Layland < trains
  8. Of course you should worry about gear box issue...
  9. Go for the Mira. Mostly for the appearance.
  10. Difficult to find unregistered Vitz for 3.3 m. You may go for a Passo if you are okay with the appearance.
  11. I had a look at a Beleno few months ago at an A*W showroom. Comparing to other Maruti vehicles, built quality is way better than cars like Alto and Celero. I don't know how this car performs in the second hand market with the Sri Lankans perception about Indian made cars...
  12. Albeit Suzuki Baleno is made India and imported to Japan, It is still reasonable priced comparing to others with decent build quality...
  13. Most importantly you will not see those annoying Japanese letters in the digital instrument cluster
  14. Wait a little, if the Toyota vitz 990 cc price drops significantly, surely the Hyundai have to consider decrease the price of i10 if they want to exist in the market and same with Picanto
  15. I mean the hybrid technology. Not like Suzuki Swift hybrid, It is a mild hybrid like wagon R. New Suzuki Ignis uses s-ene charge technology. It uses an ISG motor and has a similar battery like Wagon R under the front passenger seat. It is more of a city car but roomier one than Wagon R, more ground clearance that matches Lankan road conditions resembling Suzuki Swift jeep model . Very light car considering its size.
  16. Suzuki Ignis 1200CC mild hybrid will get popular in Sri Lanka, powerful than wagon R but same technology....
  17. This vehicle is getting so popular in japan this year and this is the best selling car in Japan first quarter 2017. The system is bit like a diesel-electric locomotive. Claimed to be a fuel efficient car (37km/L) but can't see this car in SL market somehow why?
  18. Go for the GE6. Good in fuel. Bigger boot space with magic seat arrangement. This is the non hybrid version of GP1, so i think spare parts availability is not going to be a big issue. You may also consider a Mazda Demio.
  19. What about Renault Kwid, since many people say it is also a kind of an SUV
  20. Can you tell me more about the warranty conditions. Is it compulsory for your car to be serviced at their own service station or can you service your car via another kia authorized service station? What about the cost of service comparing to another service station, are they kind of ripping of customers? What about the suspension? Kia Picanto really looks good and also has a larger boot space and rear leg room comparing to 2016.
  21. No, Fit Aria made in Japan, but Honda City made in Thailand.
  22. The Police would now constantly monitor CCTV footage for traffic violations in the Colombo city, Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said. The pilot project is to be implemented tomorrow (04). He said motorists would be informed of the fines or court dates through post. “The motorists would then have to come to the relevant Police Station to collect the necessary charge sheet and pay their fines or appear in a court,” he said. He said the project would first be implemented in Colombo. The Police will particularly monitor lane law violations, the Spokesman said. CCTV cameras installed at major junctions and roads as well as mobile CCTV cameras would be used to gather evidence of any traffic violations. “Now there is no need for a Policeman to be presented for a motorist to be fined, when they break the law. Motorists can also view the video footage gathered by the Police if they have any questions,” he said. - See more at: http://www.dailymirror.lk/107752/Traffic-violations-to-be-monitored-through-CCTV#sthash.wZYGGdQS.dpuf Now the issue is, what about ppl who transferred vehicles via open papers?. I think they have to be present at the police station and give statements for hours. Some registered owners are abroad and some of them are dead and interestingly some people didn't use their own address for registration, they used the address of the Car Sale. My father died few years ago and he transferred his vehicle via open papers before his death as I can remember. The address mentioned in the VIC was not the address of our house, it was the address of the car sale if I am not mistaken.
  23. I am curious after Patali Champika Ranawaka incident about using high-capacity bikes in normal roads. Some people say these bikes allowed only for racing purposes and illegal to use them on normal roads but I saw some super bikes in Colombo roads. Someone please clarify this matter?
  24. Why do you say Perodua Viva is better than Viva Elite? Perodua Viva is old and is not a familiar car like Viva Elite
  25. I think it is risky to buy a vehicle that is rare in SL roads. I saw few Voxy hybrids so far in SL but not as much as Honda Vezels. Both Vezel and Voxy are new models and they a are good performers in Japan market this year. Voxy looks better than Estima, but ground clearance is a concern.
