  1. Allion is a no pickup car mate?
  2. Emgrand might be so. But most Kyron owners said that one service would cost around 20,000.
  3. Yes, but this controller lets you adjust the sensitivity of the throttle. Unlike the cable ones, the electronic throttle of the premio is tuned to give the fuel economy. So when you push it a little, sometimes, nothing happens. The controller has different settings for fuel economy and sudden response.
  4. Turbocharging a Premio will be useless and waste of money. Also it will ruin the smoothness, fuel economy and lifetime of the engine components. Make sure to check your engine and gearbox if you notice a drop in performance. Those are never meant to be performance cars, but are adequate for daily driving with good low down torque. If you really want to do something there are few recommendations. -Install a performance chip. This would increase the performance by a small amount(less than 10hp). There are two types of chips, one can be installed permanently into the car’s computer and other can be temporarily added to the OBD II. -Install an electronic throttle controller. This would cost around 20k-30k and will increase the response of the throttle by giving you increase sensitivity to the pedal. This would not increase the horsepower but the car would be much more responsive. The response can be adjusted according to your taste. -Drive the car with a heavy foot for a few minutes. Accelerate more. This would cause the VVT-I system to squeeze out more power. So the engine would give better power.
  5. I have never driven but have been a passenger for a very short time. But most owners claim that Kyron is a very comfortable and nice vehicle to drive despite for really high maintenance and service costs, and frequent engine parts replacements (the engine and gearbox is from Merc of course). But interior parts are poorly assembled with creeks here and there. Close a door and you’ll notice that mellow and loose thump as another sign of cheap build. I agree with you for the fact that emgrand is a real bargain for the price. There must be some Volvo dna in the powertrain and chassis, but again SL build quality is the ultimate winner here over anything else?
  6. KYB Excel-G version.“Made in Japan” was carved on each shock absorber. Bought from T**s(agent of KYB for SL).
  7. Oh man don’t mix up the last paragraph with a Honda Insight?. Those fuels figures are hard to come by, even if those Pandas were pushed off from a hill for free fall.... I hope that you are a “devoted” member from that facebook’s geely panda owners club in SL..I know that Club CCP stands for “Chaterma Chater Panda”?. This club is like a cult of panda where bright red pandas with stickers of demons and quotes saying about speed, popping up every 20 minutes saying “my beast”. Almost all of them are believing that Panda is the best car in Sri Lanka. It’s a really nice page to spend a few minutes laughing?
  8. Past owners might say that it’s a nice ride blah blah blah...and that’s mainly to cover up the bad decision they had taken previously? Truth about all the Micro vehicles are, that all of them are terribly built in SL. All of the Micro owners(panda, mx7, kyron, baic x25) I met said they will never buy a Micro again. All of them had bought unregistered vehicles. Around 20,000kms they show there age more than a 100,000km done japanese vehicle. I met a lower level manager from Micro who quit because he cannot bear up the poor workmanship of the workers. For the price they seem to be a nice package. I’m yet to see a Kyron which has been registered after the 2008 permit era. Haven’t seen C numbered MX7s. I rarely see a newly registered Panda. Panda might be the only one which still sells because of the lower price. The reason is that most people tend to buy a car(unregistered) when it seems to be fully loaded for a lower price from any manufacturer. So during the first few months they sell like hot cakes for the trend. But after sometime when those cars starts to show their problems and quality problems, people don’t buy them anymore. Just like what happened to Kyron, MX7 and Panda. Same thing is going to be happened to the New MG ZX soon. Even for the japanese vehicles. I recall during 2013-2015 Vezels, Fits and Graces were flooded to SL. But now we only see a few 2016 afterward made models on the road, because of the bad reputation cause by the clutch plate replacement. This is the true story.
  9. I would never recommend used shock absorbers. Like other pointed out, most of them might have been sitting with water, dust and rust. I personally had bad experience after using KYB Excel-G in my previously owned Corolla 121, so I would never recommend anyone to use them. I bought them from the agent (T**s agencies) but after installing the I experienced no difference in ride height but a significant reduction in comfort. Usually reconditioned(G,X and Luxel grades) are more comfortable than the brand new imported xli, gli,lx limited variants. But with the new shocks I was amazed how comfortable was the brand new imported ones. Even on the carpeted roads I felt a notable reduction on comfort. On the other hand handling was much better and I would still choose 121 over a 260 Allion anytime for driving pleasure. At the moment I prefer a comfortable and relaxing drive over a sporty drive without hesitation. I also heard that Toyo Lan uses higher quality grade of KYBs but don't know about the truth.@kflyer What is the price Toyo Lan quoted for shock absorbers? I also need to change the shocks of my 260 Allion and I will not put KYBs ever again, because I bought the car recently and hope to keep it for another 4-5 years.
  10. Have noticed that newer Honda models are a bit hesitant at the start of a a bit steep hill climb(road to my house). All the DCT models struggles to find a gear and sometimes almost stops. So I thought that the problem might be the DCT system is a bit late to engage or troubles to find the right gear. When I drove the new 1.5 Turbo CRV, same thing happened even with no passengers, where even the 1000cc Vitz climbs easily. Once drove an ES5 but didn’t notice that issue.

  11. Most of the IMA systems have similarities but battery in the FD3 gives a higher voltage than the Insight’s one.So do the motor. That is why FD3 can coast around 40-60kmph from the electric motor alone if the road is flat and the battery is fully charged(Insight is unable to do that).Cells might be same, but battery pack and motor is not. Also there are 3rd party battery pack manufacturers such as Bumble Bee batteries which are really famous in US.
  12. I advice you to stay away from doing the things where SL guys invented such as changing the battery with an Insight’s one. There are alternative ways such as replacing the damaged cells individually for a much lower price. I also had the idea to go for an FD3 since for the price it really seemed a bargain. But most people adviced me not to go for due to the battery issues. Some cars might not get affected while a considerable amount had to face the replacement just like SLK said. 2 people I know had to go through it. I didn’t want to take a risk, so I stayed away. It depends on your luck, but now it’s been well over 10 years for the cars that are in SL (2007-2009 manufactured) so most of the affected cars might have been replaced with new batteries if the owners had taken care of them. As a common advice for any plan-to-be hybrid owner, DON’T BUY A HYBRID UNLESS IF YOU DO AT LEAST 30KM PER DAY. Buying a hybrid for keeping it in the garage is the best way to destroy the battery. If that is so, yon can get your hands on the FD4(1.6 variant) or FD1(1.8 variant) or Lancer EX. hope this helps
  13. As I remember, I had to replace the valve cover gasket on my 121 at 130,000km during the tune up. There are some signs that you can test whether the mileage is true. But they are not 100% accurate 1.Break pedal-usually car with around 60,000km might have an almost new looking break pedal. But this can be varied. If the driver had used shoes during driving all the time the pedals might wear out faster.Check the right side corner of the pedal. 2.Steering wheel-If the driver hadn’t use a cover, check the top of the steering wheel. (Which means 12 o’ clock of the wheel).Check whether it moves easily when you try to grind it by your hand. 3.Doors-If the doors open in two steps(specially the driver side door) it is a sign that the car is still new
  14. Better to avoid Kumho since it is noticeably noisy. So far the best tyre(low price) I came across was the Falken Sincera which is a thai or indonesian made
  15. Go for a Carina. The car is a bit more comfier than the ae110 but has the same engine and pretty much bulletproof. Or you can find a Corona AT2XX series with a 1.8L engine for a much lesser price than a carina. It will be better on performance, but will not be thirsty as the Cefiro. I also have driven the Cefiro while my friend had it for around 2-3years. He also had many issues during the ownership such as the coils and some misfiring issue. He also got around 2-6kmpl but not better than that. The V6 can rev pretty hard with good torque but since the car is closer to 1.5tonnes there is not much happening. Then there is the dashboard cracking issue.Better to drive everything and check which one suits you the best.

    car setup

The auto adjusting guidelines are not supported in aftermarket audio players. There are some places around Colombo such as Pe**o lan*a who has japanese units removed from newer cars.NSCD-W66 (made by Denso) Get this unit if you really want guidelines, auto parking, fuel economy charts, bluetooth,SD card,AUX input and automatic sound levelling(it automatically increase volume and bass level according to the speed).I installed one to my Allion and it totally rocks. It has some functions even those expensive Kenwood/Pioneer Units doesn’t have. If options like gps, dvd and sound modifications to the extreme then get a Kenwood unit. You’ll have to pay around rs.2000 to install the erc code to unlock the unit. You can use google translate to get to know the functions till you get used to it. I got it for rs.8500.
  17. Hello guys!! It’s been sometime that I’m posting a new topic and becoming active(due to a family funeral and new year). Few days ago I installed a new japanese audio system to my car NSCD-W66(which had been removed from a 2016-2018 Prius,Aqua or a Vitz). It has all the features I need and jap language,76-90 radio is not an issue since I plan to add an adaptor to correct it. The player has car information display, such as fuel economy chart and some sort of economy assessment system. Also it has reverse cam with guidelines which supports auto parking. My car audio guy said that my car cannot be connected to get those functions. But can i get the fuel information display? In some vehicles, such as the aqua, even the aircon temperature is displayed. What is the type of wire harness that I need to get the functions into use? Where should I connect it to display the information? Any help is really appreciated? I’ll attach a photo of the back panel of the unit herewith.
  18. Aston Martin DB9 because it’s one of the most beautiful cars ever made with impeccable build quality and supercar level performance?
  19. There were 3 grades for 1.8L version of the Allion; A18,A18 G package,A18 S package.1.5L; A15, A15 G package. Easiest way to identify them is the meter cluster. G package has the optitron meter cluster(illumination dashboard what they call here?) and the base version has the ordinary meter cluster(just like the Axio 141 X grade’s meter but with tachometer and multi information display at the middle).According to the catalogue the A18 has the 9 leds. I have driven the A15 G pack but haven’t inspected the 3rd break lamp. Mine has 9 leds being a 1.5L, but from 2013.
  20. From what I’ve seen, the vents for rear are available in the highest grade of the 1.5L Premio/Allion 2013 and above models for sure. Premio’s F-EX package(what they call g superior in SL) and Allion G Plus(It’s properly called atleast?) are equipped. I checked two 2010-2012 F-L package cars(which is a grade below F-EX) and they didn’t have those. But both of them were rebadged as G Superior. Maybe the real F-EX packages might have those vents. I think your Allion is a middle tier edition(I can’t remember the names of the grades of 2007-2009 Allions). Best thing is to check whether your 3rd brake light(mounted on the rear parcel shelf) has 9 led lamps.Top tier versions had 9 leds instead of four. Also the leather stitched steering wheel is another fact for the top spec version. If yours not a one, the we can guess that the top version might have the option.Anyway it’s not much of a great deal, but does make it nicer for the rear passengers.
  21. @sathyajithj99 Premio has heated side mirrors and AFAIK seat heaters, side mirror puddle lamps, auto dimming rearview mirrors can be added as accessories. But I agree the fact that CHR has more bells and whistles than Premio. But when you compare among those 2 cars, the the Premio might be the best option if you prefer a comfortable, reliable(if maintained well) and easy selling car. On the other hand with Insight you’ll get more options, a sportier ride(might not be as comfortable as the Premio) and for surely more heads will turn as you pass by. Remember that Insight is still a new car and so you’ll have to take a little bit of risk when you take that decision. Both Civic and the Insight were built on the same platform and some components might be same underneath, but powertrains are totally different. From what I’ve seen and heard, the interior of the new hondas start to show more signs of usage around 60,000-70,000 kms(specially the steering wheel). If you really want to go for a Honda, you can get a Civic sedan with the 1.0T engine which might be safe. As for the Premio,( I’m currently owning a 2013 Allion) it’s a good family mover. I’m usually averaging around 14kmpl per one tank of fuel with one long distance trip. Comfort wise I think it will be better than the Insight. Also note that there are AC vents underneath the front seats for the legs of the rear passenger but most people doesn’t know about that. But remember that it is not a sporty ride with good handling and acceleration.Since it’s much heavier and when cruising down the road you’ll feel the weight, a bit like a more expensive car. As you are moving from an Avanza, both cars will be miles ahead from that.
  22. Even with the bodykit she scrapes the ground very rarely compared to my previous 121?
  23. Check the 2013 Allion. It’s the same car with less chrome insertings for about 1-2 lakhs lower. I personally find (maybe because I own one) the front end and rear end of the Premio to be more plasticy looking. Make sure to find a one with all the records and details regardless of the mileage done. The car will return you about 12-13kmpl around Kegalle and 17+ kmpl on long distances if you drive it on light foot, maintaining a speed around 70-80kmph. I personally prefer a much more comfier, spacious ride (as I’m 6ft) with good ground clearance at the expense of handling, so went for a one.
