  1. Our family doctor has a 2011 Fiesta. He sold it 1 or 2 years ago and again bought another one right after. Dunno the reason. I’ll ask him next time about the details. What I know is, it has a good set of options and manufactured in Thailand. He is a person who enjoys driving and the car might be good in terms of driving.
  2. (Not an Ad?)For everyone who seek for high quality cables and connectors such as mobile phone(Type C, Micro USB 2,Lightning), Audio (AUX cables, Stereo to RCA converters) and little gadgets like card readers, chargers I highly recommend UGREEN brand which can be imported through Ebay. I ordered few cables and pretty satisfied with their build quality. I know the ones available here in SL are extremely poor in quality and that’s why I’m recommending them for anyone interested after my personal experience.

      Remax brand has also been quite reliable and well built.

  3. As Devinda_Z mentioned Avanza is a good option. It might run without any major problems for a long time as the car is very simple. But doesn’t have the build quality of Japan made one since they are built in Indonesia. Even the closure of a door doesn’t give that solid feeling when you close the door of a japanese car. I guess among the 6 family members, 4 might be adults. In that case, Vitz would probably lack in the interior space department. Unreg one can be found for less than 4 million. If space is a major concern, among the sedans I can highly recommend the Allion/Premio. As I mentioned before, most of them have been hacked by the previous owners. So finding a good one is really hard. If you are patient and careful, maybe you’ll be able to find one, but will consume more time. The 260 is the series came from 2007 and they sell around 4-4.5 million (2007-2009). 240 is the earlier version so finding a good example from the earlier model is very hard by now. But earlier model is a bit easier to maintain than the 260 variant. Both of them are comfortable than Axio, Vitz, Aqua, Prius and Grace. The 260 is a bit more comfortable and fuel efficient than the 240. They are very spacious and would be able to move your family comfortably. Another car that comes to my in the Bluebird Sylphy G11. It’s also in the same class like the Allion and Premio. Very spacious. Haven’t driven, but have inspected one. Not fuel efficient as the Toyotas and has a 1500cc engine. There is a know issue of dashboard cracking which appeared in the earlier versions. Most of them are in good condition, but some of them are used for tourism, so there is a high chance of finding an odo meter tampered one. Be careful!
  4. KYB rear shock price is around 5-6k. Confirmed. I mean some garages does their work well, but try to rip off the customer when they come to know about his/her knowledge. But the engine vibration is definitely due to worn engine mounts. But the problem is at 87,000km what is the reason to do an engine overhaul!!! I previously had a 121 which sometimes I used to push it to its limits but when took it to Toyo Lan for tune up they said that the engine is in pristine condition(which is a bit rare these days).
  5. Thumbs up for another descriptive, unbiased and joy-to-read review????
  6. Also note that agent’s hourly rate is like Rs.2700
  7. The shock absorbers from KYB would cost around 30-35k (Our next door Vitz needed replacements for rear shocks and one cost around 5k). Mounts will be around 50k-60k(not sure). I did a rack repair on my previous 121 and costed me 7k from a known place, so lets say it’s 10k. Let’s set aside another 50k for other jobs, the gaskets and others. Simple. They ripped you off!!! I bought all 4 engine mounts for my 2013 from Toyo** Lan** costed me 62k only. For the shock absorbers they quoted around 110k(all 4). Better to do something!
  8. Since it’s your first vehicle what about getting an unregistered Vitz? You’ll have relatively trouble free 5-6 years. Although it’s not a bad car either. Good fuel economy, spacious and adequate power for daily driving plus you’ll be able to sell it fast without much depreciation. There are many other good options. As Matroska mentioned the 161 is a really good option. You’ll have to spend around 4.1-4.3 million to get a good example. Most of them have been well taken care of as they were owned by permit holders. Make sure to find a low mileage one with all the service records to be on the safe side. There are other cars like Axio 141(most of them have been abused by now), Allion 260 (same story), Mazda 3 but as the first car I highly recommend you to start with a simple, no-nonsense car.
  9. Please mention your requirements, so we’ll be able to recommend you some models
  10. A person I know had one, but sold after 1 or 2 years complaining about the battery’s cooling fan. I don’t exactly know about the issue, but it’s his friend who told me the reason to sell the car. Then he bought a Toyota Sienta. By now, most of the batteries might be in their last breath so better to check well. These things have the IMA hybrid system which is much better in terms of reliability than the i-DCD Sport Hybrid system. This one has the 1500cc engine (opposed to 1300cc in the earlier IMA systems) which would be adequate for daily driving. 1500cc on the ZE3 Insight is a joy to drive with plenty of torque, but here with the added weight it would be ok for daily travel. But the IMA system struggles a bit on steep climbs.
  11. GT tyres are ok for the price you pay. But they are hard (uncomfortable), noisy and not that good in slippery conditions. This was regarding the Champiro series by GT. Better to get something like Maxxis or if budget is not much of a problem, Bridgestone Ecopia.
  12. Viva elite all the way. Newer car plus looks better than the March in any angle. Significantly Better fuel economy than the march
  13. You are trying to get hold of the car in a risky time period considering the DCT’s clutch replacement. Since the battery’s usable capacity is 47% which would be fine for another 1-2 years I think the DCT issue has arisen and that’s why the owner is willing to sell for a such price. From what I noticed, the interior parts like the steering wheel starts showing their age in these trio (Fit, Vezel and Grace), so better to skip the vehicle and get a different model.
  14. The X-Trail seems a nice bargain for the price, starting around 5.4 million, but I'm aware about the gearbox issue. I mean can this issue be rectified permanently or it keeps popping up after every 30k-40k kms?

      Well I have a friend of mine, got one of these in 2015, they own a large chain of vehicle dealerships here and have property In Japan, the facts being said as the vehicle was absolutely pristine off the factory, zero mileage, it was black and had all the autech kit as well, they ran the car in their garage plates until a special no was available, I can’t remember what it was, the fella put an infinity sound system as well , so it was not bought to be sold, but as soon as it was touching odd 10000km, they suddenly got rid of it, back then no one had experienced this issue and I was like why ? The fella told me it developed a gearbox issue and apparently the whole model had started issues in Japan, sad part is some poor chap got the end burden but to them business is business. Probably their warranty tried.

      @tiv Thanks for your information mate. It’s just the low price and the road presence grabbed me. I heard about the gearbox issue earlier, but never thought that it would be as serious as this until reading some posts and your info. No wonder for their eye catching price tags? Reminds me of the Navara. Then got the chance to drive an Outlander gasoline version which had the Rockford Fosgate audio system. Man that’s the bomb! The sound system alone make me want the car so badly. When driving, it’s okay, but feels heavy and well planted, and absorbs most of the small potholes. But uneven surfaces gives a bit of jolt. Sadly the interior parts feel very cheap and brittle, but almost all the vehicles are PHEV so wouldn’t be a good decision for my weekend usage.

      @sathyajithj99 Both have CVT mate

  15. Why those DFCC owners are all alike? All of them are thinking that they own the best SUV in the world.:hah:

      @Car Doctor Mr. I-know-it-all guy,

      Let me break it down for you. Your DFCC might be a good car, but the Glory 330 which is indeed from the same manufacturer left a bad reputation in SL due to numerous issues. I myself have driven one, which felt alright to drive, but most of the interior parts seemed to be built not-to-last. For the price you pay(4.2 million at that time) will get you a brand new car with a lot of options. I have not seen a recently registered 330, which implies about the bad reputation it left during the past 2-3 years.

      Yes DFCC(I prefer it calling this) Glory 580 might be better in terms of durability than the 330 since most manufacturers try to rectify problems when introducing newer models. But I personally think even the 580 might hold up well against time than a jap or euro vehicle. There are several reasons:

      -A car maker cannot increase the quality or reliability(specially the reliability) to that of industry leading manufactures in 2-3 years. I think you might have heard the story of Mercedes Benz from 1995-2009. The company took nearly 1.5 decades to bring the reliability to the level they had 15 years ago, which one of the best car companies in the world. So the quality cannot be leaped unless DFCC shifting the production to Toyota or Honda.

      -Those budget oriented car makers’ technology is not up to the level of jap, euro or korean cars. Yes, you car has most options like dual A/C, sunroof, power shutters and power mirrors. But those options were in the old 1995 Pajero. They still don’t have the required technology to develop driver aid systems and safety systems(which have now become a standard for all the vehicles) such as Lane Departure warning, auto brake, auto dimming headlamps and adaptive cruise control.

      -CNCAP rating is not up to the standards of JNCAP. Safety is a major concern while most SL people neglect it for the price. But this 5-10 lakhs saving could be the killer in your next accident.

      -Testing of vehicles are also not done thoroughly as other manufacturers, and that’s a major assistance to the reduced manufacturing cost.

      -Most of the vehicles which came cheap to SL like Kyron,Rexton,Actyon,Baic X25 were sold like hot cakes at the introduction, but later no one bought them. That’s because their bad reliability.

      I know you still won’t accept it, because you paid over 6 million to a Chinese vehicle. We as members want to share our experiences honestly, without any bias. We had bad experiences with the 330, and still It’s a relatively new car brand in SL. So we are unable to recommend it to another saying it has all the options. But you people talk like it’s the best SUV in the world giving various price figures compared with other vehicles. A good car cannot be measured by the amount of options offered at the lower price, but it’s the dependability. That’s why the Toyota Corolla has been the best selling car of all time regardless of the lack of options.

      I joined to this forum in 2012 as newbie without knowing much about vehicles. I gained so much knowledge and information from here. Now I have gained much more experiences than I were in 2012 after driving every car that I could get my hands on and collecting information. So think wisely before you say pointless things in this forum, and don’t think that you know everything. You owners started saying it’s the best suv and we tried to explain you the truth but still you all would say it’s the best.

  16. Other than the 15,000km CVT fluid change, those honda engines were pretty solid. Saying that about the “expensive maintenance”...Yes, those two words are surely going to spill out from any typical SL car owners mouth, right after saying “Honda”. Honda parts are a “bit” pricier than Toyota ones, but that’s not an issue to own a Honda. Also there is a bit of a problem when it comes to finding parts as it was not imported to SL in heaps like those Vitz and 121 models.
  17. It was from the same time period when those Fit Arias with CVT gearboxes introduced.Those CVT equipped Honda cars are popular for giving many CVT related issues as most people were unaware of the fact that their cars were equipped with CVT, but just auto transmission. Also those were the earliest CVTs introduced by the Honda. There might be some issues. Oil burning issue was with the GP1.
  18. There is not much of a difference between those years except for some minor exterior changes and a few extra options. By now, 2006 model has faced to the depreciation, and you’ll lose the least amount of money when selling. But have around 500,000 for doing the running repairs and replacements such as tire changes etc...
  19. RICE LEVEL?

    I think Basmathi level?

  20. All of them are just simple running repairs, which would cost you around rs.50,000 if done from a trustworthy garage(excluding the steering rack issue). Toyo Lan has high labour charges and would cost a fortune for all the jobs. What I do is, I buy parts from them and get the parts installed from my mechanic. I hope that the issue with the coolant line is the broken tip which fits to a pipe, located near the radiator cap. Toyo Lan mentioned as replacing the whole radiator to fix the issue, but my mechanic installed a brass tip as he said the breakage is inherent in all those cars like Axio, Allion and Premio.
  21. AFAIK when you do service from anywhere else, you cannot get the warranty. But it is highly unlikely of getting an issue with the engine and gearbox in a Vitz, so I would go to the agents, but they are costly.
  22. If I have the money, this would be my choice!!!
