  1. Although all the electric car owner happy about the increase of Duty on Electric vehicles from 5% to 50% the infrastructure investment (Charging points) will stop with immediate effect. The number of charging points you will see will decline drastically. There will be very few new owners for electric vehicles. The expectation of a electric car owner to charge the vehicle will be an issue. Anyone planning to buy a Electric vehicle is only a dream now, throw that idea out the window! Yahapalanaya Government crushedpeoples dream of Electric vehicles with a least effective budget. People owning electric vehicles will be stuck with their vehicles for life!
  2. Honda has the worst repair center/service! The customer service is also ZERO. The prices of Honda parts quoted by Stafford is more expensive than maintaining a Mercedes Benz at D*MO. How do we officially raise this issue with Honda Global????
  3. Have the Suzuki's Indian or Japanese less than 1000cc gone up as well.. Can anyone shed some light on this please???
  4. I am sorry! can you paste the link as i cannot find it on the customs website. Thanks
  5. Customs duty on a Toyota Aqua vehicle has been increased by Rs. 770,000 while the duty on a Toyota Axio vehicle has been increased by Rs. 1,365,000 http://www.adaderana.lk/news/32620/duty-increase-on-japanese-cars
  6. The import duty rates on vehicles, to be imposed in this year’s Budget, would be applied to all the vehicles that reach Sri Lankan shores after the budget was produced, Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said today. He said many people had criticized last year that they were not informed beforehand when the previous government imposed taxes on imported vehicles. “We decided to make this announcement as we were subjected to heavy criticism last year. We didn’t ask anyone not to send any vehicles to Sri Lanka till the budget is presented,” he said. The government increased import duties on some categories of vehicles and the new rates were changed from the vehicles that arrived in the Sri Lanka ports after the budget date in early 2015 and the new rates were charged even though the vehicles were sent prior to the Budget. - See more at: http://www.dailymirror.lk/90093/vehicle-import-levies-to-be-applied-after-budget-ravi#sthash.fQfh8rxr.dpuf What going to happen?? Any Guesses??
  7. Very Good Driiving Pleasure but for a hybrid it only does 7-8 Km per liter. Now with the Yahapalaneya and petrol prices at 117/- who cares
  8. Cars 1000cc Tax to be reduced by 15% and Hybrid taxes to be brought down further
  9. The Japanese vehicle prices have dropped significantly due to the exchange rate against the US $. Which means brand new & reconditioned vehicles coming from Japan are at an all time low. Good Time to buy a vehicle. This exchange rate will have a effect on used vehicles in the market (2nd hand) as well. Due to not much of a price difference on recently registered vehicles Vs Unregistered Vehicles Estimated Prices: Eg 1: Vezel (depending on the Grade X or Z) would have costed you between 4.7 - 5.15 Million 2+ months ago but today it will cost you 4.2 - 4.7 million (all inclusive) if you clear it during this time Eg 2: Allion 2013/14 will cost you in the range of 4.5 - 4.7 Million Even brand new vehicle prices from Agents will/should/has come down... KEEP AN EYE OUT AND DON"T LET CAR SALES GUYS FOOL YOU WITH THEIR LIES.
  10. Yes,The 2nd hand market is on the verge on collapsing. The Yen is at a all time low. New cars coming in to SL are transacted on this rate. This will have a ripple effect on all vehicles registered and unregistered (applicable only to Japanese vehicles in the market)
  11. There are no significant changes to the vehicle tax reductions. Changes are only applicable for electric vehicles and Van's and the VAT reduction of 1% is applicable for all vehicles imported in the future.
  12. I have seen a RS version of the FIT as well
  13. @ Crosswind & iRage The reason for UK vehicles having under carrage rusting issues is due to the salt sprayed on snow. Snow dissolves very fast when salt is sprayed on. During bad wheather conditions there are salt spraying trucks which go around spraying salt on the roads. This leaves the the roads very salty and vehicles travelling in these conditions gets a good amount of salt on their under carrages. Over time rust appears & growns and hence the rusting issues. Again not all vehciles have this issue as it may have not Snowed in the UK @ the point of the 1st sale of vehicle till it was shipped to SL. Climatization I have personally had experience with 2 UK import vehicles where rubber parts, plastics & dashboards etc whcih have cracked or begins to alter with the heat. Warranty This something very important when buying a vehicle. The options and the choices given by the agent my not be the most loaded vehicle but we spend alot of money of on vehicles in Sri Lanka and having warrantly would give you a peace of mind. But this is totally based on opinion and choice.
