    R18 Tyres

Hi Guys, Was wondering if any of you knew where to source R18 tyres from? Only place I know of is Autodrome - Bridgestone Potenza's 245/45R18s, which cost Rs. 57,500 each. This is what I've got at the moment, but the problem is the tyres are a bit too big for the car and was hoping to to go down to 235/35R18s if possible. Anyway if any of you know a good place which import performance tyres let me know! Cheers

    Ecu Remap

Thanks Don, your suggestion (followed by a bit of research) made me realise I should probably be looking at the basics a bit more before I get the remap. I've never had the injectors cleaned and there is probably quite a bit of carbon build up (Subaru's are notorious for this) so maybe after a full clean out and an octane booster I'll get that extra performance I'm looking for in the lower range.

    Ecu Remap

Thanks guys, actually had to postpone the remap cause I needed to get some work done on the exhaust and thought it would be best to leave the remap for last once all changes are finalised. Zakie Ismail is doing the remap, heard all good things about the guy and I've been very impressed with the work he's done on my car till now. Hear your point about the longevity of the engine components, mileage is in the high 70s and certainly prefer to be safe than sorry. Like Don mentioned it depends very much on the person doing the remap, and as long as you don't go for extreme power gains I believe engine longevity could even be increased resulting from improved synchronization between air/fuel delivery and ignition. Additionally, a remap would get more out of simpler mods like high performance air filters, fuel pumps and exhaust upgrades. Given that we cant get anything better than 95 octane petrol here, most of the remaps here are quite conservative which don't really transform into massive power gains and therefore limit the additional strain placed on engine components. Anyway that's my take on it. Got a bug to get it done, but still on the fence as to whether I should!

    Ecu Remap

    2004 Subaru B4 - 2.0 Single Turbo
  5. Hey guys I tried searching for this topic on the forums but couldn't really find anything. Planning on getting the ECU remapped on my car primarily to improve the low end pick up, till the turbo kicks in. Did a bit of research online and from what I gather the main drawback is that the vehicle will require a bit more attention with shorter service periods to cope with the added stress on the mechanical components following the remap. Anyway just wanted to check if anyone has had a bad experience following a remap over here? Planing on getting it done tomorrow so any tips before then would be great! Cheers

    Bmw 520D

The HitAd last Sunday had around 15 F10 5 Series' for sale. Ranging from 11-12.5 mil. There's going to be a shit load of 5 series running around Colombo, fits in well with the UDA's beautification project!
  7. Thanks, the first accident was a motor bike and the second was onto a barrier. Senok did both repairs, replaced a couple of panels but no structural or mechanical repairs. Sacha has put a straight through exhaust which is why it sounds like a bomb is going off every time the pistons move, and the paint was never cut and polished after the accident in Dec. Darin's fixing the stock exhaust back in, and its going to get a polish straight after!
  8. What have you heard? Got the green light from both Senok and BRJW - I am aware of the accidents but was under the impression it was nothing major (mechanically).
  9. Thanks guys, Senok confirmed that there was no mechanical damage to the car from the accident - purely cosmetic. Should be getting her next week. 4age which Dimitri are you referring to? The rims are still gold, however have been coated in silver paint. Prefer it in silver actually.
  10. Hey guys If any of you are the previous owners or know the following vehicle could you please pm me? http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=77251 Thanks!
  11. Man it's pretty disheartening that a hot hatch priced to target young execs barely out of uni costs 12 mil in SL! The current duty structure and exchange rate which I believe is going to be with us for a while will ensure that cars like these remain exotics for a long time. Its a good thing importers like BRJW are gutsy enough to take the risk and bring them down - gives more people a chance to own them later down the line at least.
  12. Not much chance of Exxon discovering anything great on hydrogen cells if their scientists spend most of their days on car forums talking about a permit 5 series which they bought.

    Bmw 520D

Man this guy sure knows how to take the prestige away from owning a new 5! So much for distinguished elegance. Hopefully just another wannabe hiding behind his keyboard.
  14. I've been using a Civic hybrid for the last couple of weeks. Drove it like I usually do (gear changes around 3-3.5k revs) and it was doing only 8.5 km/l (as per the indicator in the speedometer). Been told I'm not the slowest driver so thought I'll try conservative driving (get the gear to change around 2K revs - painful!) and it seems to be doing around 10.5 km/l. Colombo driving only though. Still pretty dismal for a car that claims to be fuel efficient. Must say though the pick up isn't too bad for a hybrid. Was quite surprised.

  16. Guessing you guys have seen that Bugatti which drove into the lake on youtube? Well looks like it may have been done on purpose for insurance fraud. http://news.drive.com.au/drive/motor-news/his-crash-made-a-splash-on-youtube-but-now-man-who-drove-1m-bugatti-into-lake-sued-for-allegedly-doing-it-on-purpose-20111202-1o9r4.html
  17. Its actually some hardware brand, had pictures of all these nuts and bolts on it too!
  18. Thanks. It's a 2004 Civic Ferio. Nothing too special. Badly wanted to get something more involving when I moved back this year, however had lost a ton of money and countless hours at the garage with my previous car in Aus (which was all worth it!), so decided to go with something reliable initially - plus I had way too much work on. I guess the only thing which stands out from any other Civic is the sound system - its a Clarion VX400. Thought if I was going to go with a practical car I may as well spoil myself with a pretty decent sound system.
  19. You've got to be pretty comfortable with your sexuality to be driving this thing around... Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  20. Happy to do so, thanks for settling it. Sorry if my comments were vengeful at times.
  21. LOL.. thanks but I'll take a pass! A few more pics of the aston martin would be awesome though. Thought it was a DBS first with the cleared out rear lights, seems like thats one of the changes on the 2012 model, the normal red looked better IMO.
  22. Geez.. what are you 12? You want to beat me up like some school bully cause you don’t have the intellectual capacity to have a debate on an online forum?!? It’s a good thing a fool like you doesn’t have any wealth or power, I can only imagine the consequences! You know I’m not that big on religion but I think I’ll make an exception and thank God that you decided to make Toronto your new home. Good riddance to bad rubbish I say! It seems to be impossible for you to put forward an objective argument instead of throwing a hissy fit like some spoilt 15 year old girl who can’t find her favorite shoes. I’m not going to dignify your stupidity with another response. I’d ask you like a man to drop it, however there’s no chance of that happening, so go right ahead oh mighty furher, have the last say. Maybe you could send some innocent minorities to the gas chambers right after too. They all made money the wrong way you know. Cleanse the system why don’t you. Un-freakin-believable! Read a book you moron. Just a general comment to all reading this. I apologise that my first few posts have resulted in such drivel like the one quoted above. Must say I am very impressed that none of the other seniors sided against me, considering Charitha’s been around for awhile – goes to show that autolanka is a pretty fair and balanced forum.

  24. For someone who claims to have a holier than thou conscience and follows his religon to the dot you sure do act like it. I don't doubt that you are worse vocally, good on you for being proud about it. I wasnt trying to defend any one person. I was just disagreeing with your opinion that anyone who has money in Sri Lanka is a crook. See thats the other problem with our Lankans - love to sit and whinge, however if any one has a different opinion its considered a direct insult. Hyper-sensitive much? Don't take it so personally man. Its an open forum, just sharing views. Why is it that stupidity and arrogance always goes hand in hand? Hats off to picking an appropriate alias though oh mighty Führer! All Hail Charitha! P.S - the last line was personal - thought you'd enjoy it.
  25. Hold on... you can understand A/L teachers making enough money to buy a LKR 15 million merc, but to quote your own words "no one can bring a 55 million rupee car on a paycheck and nawaloaka empire... please.." ?!? Mate, they must have some really good shit in Canada... I want what you've been smoking!!
