  2. I found the IC by visiting a junk yard in Makola. I picked a cluster with the same IC but with none working needles. So the guys gave me the whole thing for Rs.2000. Then I did the IC transplant. I also figured out that you can even fix a Japanese model cluster to this by swapping the wires properly. Its just that the pinout is little different. I might go ahead and get a illumination type dashboard for this!
  3. your guess seems to be the exact cause. Finally I found someone who figured out that my car runs on failsafe mode and that is why it lacks powers. He is now doing the fix and I will be getting the car tomorrow. According to him some sensor from the gearbox is not working. I shall keep you guys posted about my test drive tomorrow.
  4. I took a chance and got the main IC of the meter board replaced by myself. Now the speedo works like a charm.
  5. I got to know of person called Chaminda from Panadura. He has helped car same like me with a 260kmph on the speedo without having to replace the entire board. Tomorrow I am going to see him. So far all the guys I met wanted to me to find a replacement cluster (which the obvious solution), but I cannot find this particular model. This is why I am trying to find a person who knows some electronics just beyond some wiring and replacing an entire board. I am sure there must be some hidden talent out there.
  6. What I have observed here in SL is that Auto electrical guys lack electronics knowledge and electronics guys lack Auto electrical knowledge.
  7. Just got to know that there is a yard at makola and they might be having something for me when I go there tomorrow. Fingers crossed! Wish we had a guy like this in SL who can replace the none-working part of the board, instead of replacing the whole thing! http://www.instrumentclusters.com/
  8. Malinga said to find a matching board. Also he said this is not working due to some minor issue, but we don't have the technology to figure out which part of the circuit is not functioning properly.
  9. Hi Guys, I am driving a Cefiro A33 and my speedo is not working. I nailed down the issue to the board. The needle work, VSS works. Its just the board is not sending the proper signal to the needle. I tried finding a matching board for this and it was not successful since this is the so called Singapore model with 260kmph on the board. But I have strong feeling that this board has a very small fault like a diode or something and a person with electronics knowledge can give a try to revive this board to work. Please throw your ideas/contacts/etc to help me rectify this issue. Cheers,
  10. Was that your car? Its like the twin brother of mine. same colour. These days I am having hard time finding a meter board since my speedo is not working. Swept the whole of Wijerama and couldn't find one with a 260kmph dial. Any other places to try?
  11. I took the car to Malinga Electrical works and he figured out the bad idle and hesitation of starting is caused by a bad connector(s). There was another A33 with same as mine with same colour and year came for the same cause and as a result he just fixed by issue in just 30 mins. Now the idle is very smooth and no hesitation of starting as well. I also didn't notice any major power loss as it used to be before this fix. But he recommended me to do a complete engine tuneup and I should get the full power back. My speedo is not working and Maliga said its due to a bad IC or something. Now I have to find a matching meter board or an electronics expert to find the bad IC and salvage that from a similar board and solder it back to my board. Anyone you know who can do that for me? It seems like finding an A33 meter board is not an easy task and also they are just price 3 times higher than they should be. Thank you all for the great support.
  12. Very true. Mine is just a long one followed by 16 short flcikers. So its a generic test I guess. My son was telling he have seen this happening many years back. So its not an error code. I also felt the same. All of these guys does is scan and then just interpret them to us
  13. Agreed. My previous car was an hmatic. how about the Teana 2007?
  14. Thank you. I will give this a try. There is a car sale guy who just gave me an offer couple of days ago to exchange this with a Sonata 2006 (not the h-matic) he has. Its a KF series and interior is not maintained properly. I would say my A33 interior is much better. His offer is A33 + 8K to his hand = I can take the sonata 2006.
  15. One another note. I just found these steps where they say you can read the error codes from your ECU by following the procedure below. The check engine light will blink number of time to tell you the code. How to read the engine codes without a Nissan CONSULT or scan tool. (Set ECM in Diagnostic Test Mode II) 1 Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ON and wait 3 seconds. 2 Repeat the following procedure quickly five times within 5 seconds. aFully depress the accelerator pedal. bFully release the accelerator pedal. 3 Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the MIL starts blinking. 4 Fully release the accelerator pedal. 5 ECM has entered to Diagnostic Test Mode II (Self-diagnostic results).
  16. All I can say is, this issue has a direct link with the engine heat. All of these performance issues are not there when you start the car and drive in the morning. It starts giving me this performance issues once the engine gets heated. I am not sure what the "limp mode" means though!
  17. I have gone to so many places with this car now and I feel all of them (including A*W) have some fear in this model. This may be the obvious reason why A33 are just condemned here like hell. Yes. They test drove the car. Customer service is good in general. The cashier guy needs to be trained properly though. He was just texting on his phone all the time and it took me 30 mins to get him to accept my credit card and close the bill
  18. Just came home after the A*W visit. They couldn't find a reason for my issue. The engine scan didn't show anything it seems. They wanted me to check the gearbox. but they said since they don't have spares, they will not be able to do it for me and asked me to try somewhere else. So I took the car to "N*lwala auto gearbox" guys ( i just live 5 houses away from them). The owner itself came with me for a ride and he said he cannot find anything wrong with the gearbox. But he noticed the light near the sports drive button blinked 16 times when the engine is stopped and again place the key to ignition position. He says its an indication of something wrong, but he don't know what it exactly. His advice for me is to sell the car instead of trying to fix this. But I am a person who really don't like to pass this problem on to someone else and make them suffer the same issues I have. I told him about that and then he said for me to find an engine and he will get it installed for me. . How much an engine will cost is my next question. Please advice me!
  19. Spot on mate. Most of the ODB scan guys were saying various stories since the scanner was not showing any errors. One place was even suggesting me to replace the ECU Tomorrow first thing in the morning is to visit the A*W in my schedule. I will get the engine scan and then lets see the next step. Thank you very much for the continuous follow up
  20. I called a person called Rajagiriya workshop and they said to drop in there to take a look at the car. I am going to do it today or tomorrow. I will keep you posted about the result.
  21. That is a very logical guess Gayan. I too had the doubt on the MAF since it seems to have been replaced before I bought the car. Its with a yellow coloured paint. Around how much A*W charges for a scan and is it just a walk in type process or should I make any pre-appointments? Thank you very much for taking time to reply me. Cheers
