  1. I'm also just finished lease of my car and got the deletion letter. Instead of visiting RMV and deleting absolute ownership, can I just handover deletion letter to future owner when selling the car few years down the line? So, that person can do it when transfering the vehicle ownership.
  2. 1 - Usual cost is Rs1000 per feet + cost of PVC pipes, depth of the well depends on how deep the ground water table at your area 2 - Regular pump cannot pull water from a well deeper than ~30ft. You will need a submersible pump ( costs ~35K ) - I drilled a 175ft well few months back and total cost was about 250K including cost of pump and piping 3 - No maintenance as far as pump is reliable At least in Colombo area, deep well water is not suitable for drinking due to ground water table contamination. Also, deep well water is high in minerals (hard water) as water is sitting inside bedrock layer. So you may need to get a good water filter to make water suitable for drinking
  3. Sri Lankan vehicle market is mostly driven based on the tax structure. With the current tax structure, hybrid vehicles are not attractive in Sri Lankan market. No one is going to pay 4 mil+ tax for a aqua or 8mil+ for a Prius.
  4. Is it any better than kerosene?
  5. This is a limitation of honda dual-clutch single-motor hybrid system. When vehicle creeping slowly, engine cannot spin motor-generator fast enough to charge the battery.
  6. Any rechargeable battery will lose capacity over time. So, hybrid battery will also need to replace after sometime. Lifetime of the hybrid battery will depend on many factors and worst-case lifetime seems around 5 years in LK conditions.
  7. 1KR-VET engine (which is the same engine in Toyota Tank) is turbocharged but not direct injected. Hopefully, this engine will not have intake clogging which is a common drawback of direct-injected engines.
  8. As far as I remember, Alto only needs 89 octane. Car won't even know that you pumped 95. There is a huge misconception in LK that people believe "95 is cleaner than 92". Based on the sources which I "heard", 95 fuel = 92 + ethanol Octane number of ethanol is 113, so this is probable.
  9. AFIK brake disk is already damaged when you start noticing brake grinding noise.
  10. Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my ride and with the current tax structure, all affordable cars (up to C-HR) come with Turbocharged direct injection engines. I have seen some articles on the internet that carbon buildup in intake valves is a common problem in GDI engines as there is no fuel in intake manifold to wash backside of valves. So, oil residue from crankcase ventilation will deposit in intake manifold which will cause issues. Also, carbon buildup in injectors is very common as injectors exposed to combustion chamber. Are these "real" concerns in current hot selling small turbo engines which require frequent expensive maintenance?
  11. Honda N-WGN only released to the Japanese domestic market. So, there is no English manual. You can try google translator to translate sections of Japanese manual to English.
  12. Toyota hybrid transmissions do not have any friction based components (no clutches, belts). Nothing to heat up during operation, so degradation of transmission oil quality is very slow compared to a regular auto box. Do don't compare oil change intervals of regular CVT vs eCVT of hybrids.
  13. It looks like Toyota C-HR 1.2L turbo 4wd version might become popular. Based on tax formula, it will cost around 6.5mil.
  14. Not like Aslam86, most ppl will get an inspection report when buying a hybrid. So it will not be that easy to sell. Clearing code cannot hide a bad battery from scanner.
  15. Aqua tax gone up by 750,000. Just get your battery fixed and drive happily.
