  1. Thats our point too (gasoline power) either drive sensibly or move to a side as if we crawl we burn more fuel!
  2. I agree with your figures, car sales guys will increase by rupees not related to percentages, and revenue licence up too, they always hit the middle class and lower guys struggling to maintain a decent standard of living. by repairing and running these old cars at a price!
  3. Well just check yr alignment as well, but on an average thats the rating these cars do in town, get a pollution report done you can check the proper reading and fuel wastage there.
  4. facinating experiences. Well firstly both brands are good. and are used by car manufacturers are OEM parts. like some previous discussions quality and type matters. kyb shocks come from thailand/japan, oil/gas , stock /sports. so choose whats best for your driving conditions, any gas shock gives superioir handling compared to stock but bit hard initially. Do check your springs as if they are sagged they will give a harder ride with the new dampers.
  5. well all new cars need a bit of a run in, approx 1000-5000 kms for best results, using 3 star petrol would help the knocking else use soltron fuel additive it works for my camry . economical option is IOC(extra mile) what u r using. have u done your first oil change? if costing is ok go for their highest grade .
  6. well thats the average the car will do considering with A/c and 3 cyl engine. try staying around the 2k rpm on high gear and bit more gentle on the acceleration, it helps. need to do 3 servicies then the engine seats in well.

    Oil Sludge

You might be using synthetic fluids, so Try using normal mineral oil and change it with oil filter for 2 consecutive services at around 2500kms, instead of using a flush. or take it to automiraj a do a flush approx Rs 6500/;. dont use flushes that come in small cans as it could worsen the situ. I have sludge in my engine too but no stalling problems. try the oil flush treatment and check the air flow sensor.
  8. Its better to use japanese NGK/ND plugs specified for this car. May be the main fault was a defective chinese brand of plug! do check for valve leaks B4 you reinstall the head.
  9. well the torque curves on petrol n diesel are different the auto box is designed for a petrol, you might have the same torque rating but the diesel putsout its power at lower rpm so you might not get the desired power output. always advisable to change the trans.
  10. sometime they may be cheap always look for date of manufacture as i once had a bad experience by getting a fat discount from SK munasinghe's (had repeated blow outs)!!
  11. yes amila tyres give a good deal else olympic tyre at havelock road.
  12. whta the engine on OHC/OHV efi? on the OHC efi (7K) its about 7-8kmpl urban/11-13 highway
  13. Well, what other competitor is there, insight? there are lots more vehicles with highbrid technologies, just that the users are car lovers and dont drive at 40kmph.(camry, crown, landcruiser, lexus harrier,hiace...)
  14. As for a seperate column i would say DONT. let them also use this page so that we Octane/cetane users know what up with them and C the things they talk about.(except fuel eco) give some time for the running repairs to start...
  15. hybrid is only a new technology like alternate fuel: duel fuel guys use LPG/GASOLINE, diesel, etc. i wonder why all the fuss is about. a VW jetta diesel common rail turbo can match the prius is performance. all cars haave its pros n cons. for those guys whose head-gaskets are over sized just because they use hybrids think of the draw backs in this country when it comes to servicing n repairs!! any layman can handle a petrol/diesel,.
