You guys remember Californican?
If he was around AL now he would be having a blast with all these hybrids and electric cars coming down to SL now
-
I guess our tax people haven't yet realised yet that car manufacturers are downsizing the engines and turbo charging them.
They seem to focusing on engine capacity based tax rates
-
Sometimes on the road you would see vehicles which have one headlamp that stays on high beam at all times while the other one is in low beam.
I heard this is done(not sure if intentionally or unintentionally) by using the wrong bulb type.

Does IOC and Ceypetco share the same fuel? Or does IOC import separately from India?

Have you guys tried the original Toyota air for tyres? Makes a massive difference in comfort and handling
-
I remember someone here asking why new Toyota cars have a vertical raised up line on each side of the roof. I found out why, it's to do with aerodynamics

You can see the bumps on this pic

Do fog lamps come with a height/beam adjustment?

The deal is in a unlit pitch black road and Sri Lankan setting,
Auto adjusting kind of makes a mess of things, especially pot holes messing the system alignment you end up losing usable low beam for a few km each time,
To add to this if it has Auto dimming or built-in setup to lower the beam based on the oncoming lights,
Then a local Mad max style mudalali express comes with all 24 lights on without a care in the world floats past you while singing his horn and all those sophisticated electronic bits leave you in low bim dipped to the max and you the human component partially blinded by there hideous glare!

Earlier models of BMW such as E36 and Mercedes such as W123/124 had anti glare side mirrors but newer models don't seem to have that. Any idea why? I'm not very familiar with European cars.
-
@The Stig that makes sense
I guess it was standard back then which is why you could find most cars with them.
I read somewhere once Lexus entered the markert it became quite difficult for BMW and Mercedes to put forward a price that matches with Lexus especially in the US. I assume to keep the price down they started turning standard features into extras and selling a base car with simple features at a lower price

Its about time admins check threads before they are posted. Someone had created multiple threads advertising fake stuff. On top of that some people open threads without searching, there were 2 new Hiace threads recently when there's already a thread with loads of discussion.
-
User accounts do have to be approved before they can be used to post content. If not for that, we would have seen much much worse spammer activity on the forum IMO. As soon as I saw those posts, I reported each one of them (and I think everyone else should use the "report" feature whenever they notice spamming, name calling (see above reply), advertising etc.).
Mods and Admins can't really keep an eye on the forum 24/7 IMO (they too have lives). So as a community, it's our responsibility to help them keep it running smooth.
@vag2, If you look at the date on that thread, it was created a year ago. Also, I don't think you can call it idiotic. It's just ignorance.

Michelin or Pirelli or Continental?
Whats your pick?

@terrabytetango Makes sense, not sure how Maxxis are but according to consumer reports Toyo doesnt seem to be doing that well.
Btw didnt your Axio come with Michelin? -
@terrabytetango Most JDM compact cars come with Toyo, Bridgestone and Dunlop. Probably Yokohama too. But I think the Axio WXB comes with Michelin(not sure if its an eco tyre).

So, randomly people pop and try to say something bad about the Hiace
and this specially comes from hybrid owners/lovers.
-
Some people are going bonkers with engine tune up and its become bit of a hype. How often should we do an engine tune up? or should it only be done if you notice something wrong?
-
Guys! any idea how they come up with the fee for annual license fee?

Toyata Lanka is selling a Hiace with 5L engine, I thought that engine went out of production long ago
- Show previous comments 7 more

Don't think the 5L model is allowed to be sold in Japan due to emission restrictions. Plus 200 series being heavier than the 100 series I can imagine how underpowered it would be
@terrabytetango whats a ROW model?

Why are government vehicles from Mitsubishi or used to be from Mitsubishi?
- Show previous comments 1 more

It's still from Mitsubishi. Recently they bought a fleet of L200 sporteros for Municipal councils and other government offices. Police highway patrol divisions use Lancer EXs. CEB uses Mitsubishi fuso trucks
Maybe an agreement between UNIMO and the government (They might have *cough* greased some wheels *cough*)

Mobil or Castrol or Toyota genuine engine oil for diesel?

Anyone knows a solution for dried water droplet marks on glasses? I dont have this problem on my windshield but only on the other glasses. I tried glass cleaner but that didnt work.

Don't use normal compound on the glass if you don't know how to do it properly. You will scratch it. There are water stain removers that you can buy (or get someone to mail it from Japan). Maguiars water spot removed used to be available in SL. It is a lot more user friendly and less prone to permanent scratching of the glass. Granted it will require more elbow grease than using compound.

What has been done to that poor Primera?

If you leave a tire idling after using them for a while, do they become useless?
-
@TarragonTV I didnt know this

I waxed my Hiace a month ago, is it okay to apply paint sealant now?
- Show previous comments 5 more
-
Progressively yes....depends on the shampoo you use as well. If you use something like AUTOGLYM, Maguiars, Turtle Wax, etc...the recommendation is that you use their wash and wax shampoos. Been using Maguiars for sometime now and with the wash and wax the wax does seem to stay a bit longer than when I would just wax and use a normal shampoo.

Any idea which euro standard fuel we have in SL?
-
I know ceypetco super diesel has only max 10ppm sulfur. Is IOC the same?
-
what tyre pressure do you all have in your vehicles?
I have 28 in the fronts and 25 in the rear
