Has anyone here played either DriveClub or Project Cars 2?

If you want to let go of realistic physics & enjoy modding & adrenaline chases for a while, obviously NFS. If you are still hooked for a highly realistic driving experience with beautiful graphics, P-cars 2.
Played NFS Payback last week on PS4 and it has an okay story. Although if possible, go for NFS Heat, it rocks! Car laundering cops, Car customization & character customizations are endless, graphics are fab & a wide variety of car choices, from MX5s, Skylines & EK9 to exotics & classics.

Agree with what @□AVANTE□ said. The last NFS I played was NFS Most Wanted. Lost interest in the game after that because handling and physics was becoming too arcade-like. I'm more into simulation, and I play a lot of Rally Games.
The best Rally game that came out recently IMO is Dirt Rally 2.0. It's an absolute masterpiece when it comes to physics, handling, car tuning and most importantly, breathtaking stages. The original Dirt Rally had it's quirks and really difficult to play (reminds me of Richard Burns Rally - so much realism). But Dirt Rally 2.0 is so much better. You really need a good steering wheel setup to play it though.
Make sure you watch this on 1080p @ 60fps
-
@Davy Dirt Rally is neat. Tried it briefly yet I loved it and even follow the subreddit.
I have a Logitech F710 controller and still play the 2012 Most wanted just for crusing around at legal speeds and suddenly tipping off the police (Sike!). Real life is already too real, would like to have some fun in the digital fantasy atleast

@Dee Jay Pretty sure the damage was beyond the front lip, you can see the driving side fog lamp also go off. The bumper also must have got damaged

I drove a BMW E90 325i, I got to say it feels great to drive, but the interior and the comfort levels arent really up to the standard of a premium car

@Magnum "sheer driving pleasure" & "ultimate driving machine"...reviews say the same can't be said for the new 7-series though

Anyone else prefer to stick to JDM stuff for your vehicles as much as possible, even when buying accessories and upgrades? or is it just me?

@iRage Good to know I'm not the only one
-
@Uditha88 I think 800 is cheap, was it one bulb or a pair?
-
@Magnum one

Remember the beeping old JDM vehicles used to make when you go past 100km/h? Any idea when they stopped it?

Go to the Wagon R club Facebook group and look for a ‘meet up’ video

I wasn’t aware that we had EG and EK hatchbacks in SL ?
where were they hiding?

They dont understand what we get here, cuz they only get a handful good stuff from Japan. I have met few of them, , their car culture is different.
For example there was one guy who strongly claimed 4Runner(which is basically a gasoline Hilux Surf with fewer options) is better than the Hilux. For them off-roading in a gasoline vehicle is normal, where as most other countries prefer diesel SUVs and Utes for off roading.
-
Did any of the new Jimny come down to SL? I havent yet seen one on the quick site
-
Fun fact: Car guys have senses in their ass, when they sit in a car they can give report on some of the issues with your car

SUVs with mods beings targeted by cops?

Mud tires have more inertia of rotation. Couple that with drum brakes on these old 4x4s, stopping distances are heavily affected.
But the Problem is the tires the RMV mandates on these vehicles. They (4dr5s, BJ40/BJ43, Nissan Patrol 160 and land rovers) came with older 600/16 and 700/16 tires, the so called "jeep katta" narrow tires. They are outright unusable in todays asphalt, especially during rain.
Changing the tire sizes in the CR is a huge pain in the butt unless you are willing to pay someone at Werahara a handsome amount.
-
31x10.5 x 15 would be the most ideal and safest replacement
Came oem size for most newer SUVs (90s)
But fellas here go ninja with 33x12.5 and 35s and 38s
And yea with drum brakes and aftermarket STEEL wheels, not to mention the heavy winch up front, high lift jack that rusted into the body as it's not been removed from 2007, and all the other jargon they've copied off,
Probably replaced with recon diffs or body permit with welded on brake lines and some caravan master pumps,
making stopping in an emergency a rather religious event
It's TRUE these mandates are necessary in interest of public safety but not blindly tearing down utilitarian mods and destroying a wonderful car cult and a motorsport. It's the mandation of the standard of mods that's necessary, not to tear down every non stock nut and bolt. To give cut offs to what is road legal and what is not. In other words some slack for modifications. This way ones hard earned hard built rig will not be harmed whereas some seller who powedered up a pajero to make a fast buck will think twice.
-
It's interesting to watch Jimny's off road capabilities being compared against big 4x4 SUVs such as Range Rover, Land Cruiser or G63. Says alot about what a great lil off roader it is.

Does the Honda Grace also have the DCT issue? So far I haven't heard any issue regarding the Grace, one guy told me the problem is only with Vezel and FIT but doesn't the Grace also share the same gearbox?
- Show previous comments 3 more
-
Two possible reasons
1. The one Sathyajith mentioned
2. The fact that graces started flowing into SL later. So :
(a) They haven't still been abused as much as the other two models - might see more graces have issues later(b) By the time the grace became mainstream already Vezels and Fits started giving trouble so awareness on DCT was there and users took extra care
(c) Due to the tax change during the period when Grace was just starting to get popular there are lot less Graces than fits or vezels

Those Chinese head units, including the Android ones. How good are they sound quality wise? Some even have full band equalizer.

I read somewhere that the new Kenwood units have crossover feature built into it.
I have passive crossovers for my speakers and tweeters. They make a huge difference but i dont think active crossovers would be good as passive ones.
I checked out the Android head units online, they seem to be various features but not sound settings, some dont even have a full band equalizer. In comparison my Carrozzeria has two menus of sound settings such as DTS, music/cinema mode or positioning. I'm gonna stick to my current head unit till I find one that has good sound quality and features.

Why drag racing cars dont use low profile tyres?

I could try explaining it..but a better way for you to figure it out..is watch "Street Outlaws" you have many streaming sites The drivers (who are the characters in the show) explain these things (about going to big end, small end, etc...).
Basically, you need the thicker and higher walls of the wheels to absorb the sudden impact the wheels will get from a high torque launch (sorry..not being a techie person I have no idea how to explain it). The chunky walls absorb it making sure that the rear stays planted (if the tire does not absorb it that initial jolt is going to go to the stiff suspension which will make the rear bounce up and break free..not to mention break the suspension). So yeah...those drag cars go with different sets of tires with different walls to change during an event.

@iRageexactly what I tried to explain

So Nations Trust Bank has put up a pic of my van in their Kandy branch board http://oi65.tinypic.com/o94qdf.jpg

Whats the difference between a C22 Vanette and Largo?
-
I am guessing you are referring to the Largo and Vanette of the same era ? The C2x series ?
The Vanette was intended for commercial use and the Largo its passenger variant. The Largo of this era shared the platform of the Vanette. Later on the Largo became a mini-Elgrand with a slightly different shared/morphed platform with the Serena (which in some markets was the Serena and then progressively became Serena globally)

Anyone else using Akebono brake pads?
Last time I installed Akebono pads at the front and FBK shoes at the back. Planning to get Akebono front and back
-
@tiv Brembo did but I think we need to replace the rotors to fix those. Dixcel has pads for Hiace, they are about 4k more than Akebono per pair. Might go with those
-
Is it true that if we replace the ECU we have to reprogram the new ECU?
-
I dont think so. Here are my points.
- If it have to reprogram what is the point of replacing a ECU (except hardware failure) ?
- Why it should reprogram ? if it can read the inputs form all sensors the ECU should serve well.
- ECU programming code may not disclose to public from any manufacturer because it is a property of the company.
Only thing I can see is, rewrite the millage if you overhaul the engine. But the millage is not storing inside a ECU. So that is also not applicable here. May be they have created a business like servicing cell phones.
(I am not a ECU expert and commenting based on my electronic & computer programming knowledge)

@kusumsiri It was new to me as well, I read that in a Pajero group regarding the MK4 Pajero

@Magnum Lets wait for others reply too and see.

I just realized that adults are on 4X2 mode while toddlers are on 4X4, hence toddlers have better traction
-
Almost all of them start having problems with their 4X4 systems within about 2 years and switch to 4X2... after that the 4X4 system only works intermittently as @tiv has mentioned. goes to show how unreliable 4X4 systems are.

Is there any difference between 2014 and 2015 Vezel? Some people claim that the 2015 model Vezel gearbox are more robust than 2014

Yes mate.Even in the Civics and Fits the steering wheel has the particular issue.
Oh sorry mate,I have been mistaken about the gearbox type. Then the gearbox might be a bit durable, but can’t exactly tell.
But do you feel that the complexity of the powertrain while you drive?I mean the the motor to engine transition is not smooth like the toyotas. When we drive slowly and suddenly at the need of extra power the throttle response is a bit hideous. It feels like the car cannot understand what to do next?
-
@alpha17 I thought that delay in response was common to all hybrids, true it is kind of annoying. It feels like the vehicle is in a complete confused state.
-
But I have to mention that the best hybrid I’ve ever driven was the Insight ZE5,the 2015 one with the 1500cc engine. The model is a bit rare since most of the insights are ZE2s with the 1300cc.It also got paddle shifters and man I love that ride. The IMA system feels just like a normal gasoline car but more livelier. But I think that the IMA system is far ahead in reliability and simplicity when comparing with the i-DCD system.

Thoughts on the third gen CRV? if im not wrong the JDM version was only available with a 2.4L engine. Are the 2.0L models agent imports?

Dad had a RE4 (third gen AWD) which he sold off for when mom's RAV4 in Japan was brought down. He regrets selling it off
The RE4 was very comfortable and the interior was very plush compared to the RAV4 and XTrail. Felt a bit heavy on the hand (RAV4 feels lighter and nimbler). The only thing I did not like about it was the gearbox with its fancy slope control dual shift thing-a-magic; took a bit of getting used to on how to work with the gearbox.
Fuel economy wise it was pretty much towards the upper end of the spectrum in relation to the RAV4...more closer to 8ish (roughly dad's monthly running includes about 75% city driving towards the tail end of rush hour traffic and 25% driving outstation to Sigiriya). He also had a RD4 before the RE and the RD got about 6-7 (just as the RAV4), but the RE was a lot top heavier than both the RE and the RAV4 (also for some reason the rubber door handles just broke off over time like a dog had chewed it).
Yes..the JDM variant came only with the K24A 2.4L engine. The K24A engine was first tried out on the2nd generation facelifted CRV (RD7/6) with some minor updates and putting out a bit more power (150 or something vs 170?)
The 2.0L variants are export variants. I believe most were sold brand new by the agents. Most of the 2.0L variants from the agents seem to be FWD variants. Whilst the 2.0L AWD was also sold by them it seems like they also offered the 2.4L AWD (after some time ?). I have seen some imports from UK and Australia as well.
-
@iRage 8ish is a decent figure for city running, is there a significant difference between the K24A and K24Z? Based on the fuel figures you have mentioned, there seems to have been an improvement.
Also I noticed that only the JDM models seem to be available with Alcantra seats while the export variants were offered with leather seats. -
Oh, the 8ish is what he averaged in a month/cycle which included 75% city driving. And his city driving was not in the thick of rush hour traffic. But both he and I do tend to get heavy footed.
No idea about the changes.
Yes, even to this date most JDM cars have alcantra whilst the export variants have actual leather because Japanese people do not get the whole leather thing
