Welcome back @Magnum
@Davy well I purposely choose this new badges and ranking system which came up with recent forum upgrade instead of old one because it is more advanced. The new badges and ranking system is based on achievement rules and points. The old ranking system was only based on number of posts.
@iRage is now gone up to 'Enthusiast' rank and achieved quite a lot of badges which is quite impressive! ..oh that summery is super 😀 I'm sure things will pick up after the pandemic situation and also when the SL economic crisis recover back.

Yes..the GL variants seem to have los the AWD variant. Strange....a few weeks ago there were some articles talking about how the Hiace still sells 80000+ units per year that was only made stronger last year because people were buying vans (Super GL variants especially) for home use as an outdoor/travel vehicle as they do not want to use public transport anymore.
@Gummybr...that ProAce is not offered in Japan (or any other Asian markets if I am not mistaken). Some markets have the small body HiAce (200 series) for commercial applications and the large body GrandAce (HiAce ?) for passenger passenger and large commercial vehicle applications.
The above mentioned article also mentioned that the dealership networks do not beleive that there will be a proper replacement for the 200 HiAce because:
- The current model is still a strong contender in the market (due to lack of strong competition)
- Because of the electrification requirements releasing a new model now would make no sense and a new electrified version needs to be developed.
As a result there are probable intermediate solutions being whispered as well...
1. Market the ProAce as the HiAce...apparently this is not a very cost efficient approach considering the 200 series' ongoing competitiveness.
2. Use the upcoming Noah/Voxy base vehicle..which apparently is not attractive because of its FF layout...

@Kavvz There’s a following for JDM cars here. People who are into cars will definitely notice a Century. When i drove this I noticed people staring, they probably were wondering what it is. My Crown also picks up a lot of attention at traffic lights and at shopping centres, I often get people asking me what it is.
-
Drove a friend’s Audi A6, it’s super nice to drive but lacks a lot in terms of comfort and interior quality
-
Fixed the original suspension back on the Crown. I can barely notice any potholes now even with low profile tyres.
-
Anyone tried two different brands of tyres for front and rear? Does it upset the balance of the car around corners?

@HaeylMI'd say they're better than GT - imo.
-
Hands down the best cars were made in the 90s, they had the ideal amount of creature comforts/electronics. They were comfortable to daily drive but not over filled with electrics to make them boring.
-
Indeed, perfect example is the 70 Series Land-cruiser and Merc W124 (Slightly older to call as 90s car). although these doesn't loaded with electronics, it's a well designed and well made cars. i think Manufactures realized later that they couldn't milk enough money out of these after they sell, and design shit box cars we are having today.

Magnum's Wisdom: an economical drive is great but switching the car into power mode and sending it is even better...

Bit of advice for those of who like me who purchase quite often online.
Recently I bought a head unit and an amp( two seperate orders from a Sydney based store). The head unit arrived in less than a week with no problem so went ahead and made another order for an amp. 1 month went by but I didnt receive the amp so I tried calling them and their phone wasnt working due to COVID 19, when I contacted them through FB they told stocks are coming in 2 weeks so I gave it another month but no delivery. Just like that 4 months went by and I got really desperate so I did some digging and found out that I wasn't the only one who got caught up with this store so i repeatedly e-mailed them but still no response. Luckily I had made this purchase through PayPal so I opened up a case and got my money back within a month. What I learnt from this is that always try to purchase stuff of eBay, Amazon or even Aliexpress because if you dont get your stuff they will get your money back without an issue and if you are purchasing directly from the store's own website then make sure they got PayPal.- Show previous comments 1 more

@Hyaenidae I have purchased from Amayama, they are ideal for genuine parts
@fiat fan I think my bank card has that, but I thought of getting the bank involved as a last option

You know my modern cars have angry looking faces? Its because they need to put up with all these emission standards ?

Vehicle prices these.... LOL
are people actually buying for those ridiculously advertised price?- Show previous comments 5 more

even if you sell your ride now for a good price its a bad time to upgrade. you are going to have to pay a premium for a new ride and any gains on your sale will be eradicated with the premium you pay for a new vehicle..... and the hit you will have to take when its time to sell once imports are allowed again.
-
Well...the issue is...people believing cars like the Premio are investments. So it is a desperate attempt to buy low and sell high. However a lot of people seem to be doing it assuming that the prices are going to go even higher. What is ironic is that the prices right now have gone up because of these very same people..so once they stop buying the prices are going to drop to a more realistic price. The reality is...the prices would go down if they actually stop buying right now. But no...our brilliant idiots are not that smart.
Most of the once who have gotten hit with reality and claiming that the Premio is over priced were interestingly looking for cars or trying to sell theirs just a few weeks ago. Then there are the once who were looking to genuinely purchase one during this period who have gotten right royally probed up their rear orifices because of those who are trying to make a quick buck or profitable flip.

Whats a 2C molli engine?
- Show previous comments 9 more
-
We had a Town Ace CR27 which manufactured in '94 had an "Molli" Engine. Molli Engine is the latest generation 2C engine. so sellers make it as a statement to draw customers saying this has the latest and greatest ?. i remember one of our cousins had CT-150 Corona (which originally imported to Navy) had flat head valve covered 2C eventually replaced by "Molli" 2C engine.
-
@Ruslan I assume the CT210 series were all 'Molli' 2C?
-
@Magnum yes. They came with Molli engine as well.

Theres a beautiful Mazda Familia for sale on the quick site

I don't understand people who fix Lexus emblems on a Altezza. Wasn't the Altezza a better car in most ways compared to the IS?
- Show previous comments 2 more

The Lexus got more creature comforts but the Altezza was not too far behind. The differences were mainly there because of market preferences/practicality. And yes...where performance variants were concerned the Altezza was handed out with far more offerings than the Lexus.
At the end of the day..none of these badges matter. In SL it is all about the letters on the number plate....if it is not a new lettered number plate...doesn't matter whether you are driving a million dollar Jag from the 90s...you are driving an old car (usually the reason is because you are having trouble in your career that you cannot afford a three digit Premio/Allion or a Land Cruzar Parado.
-
Not sure about creature comforts but the Altezza was a better car in terms of performance.
The 3SGE on the Altezza was lighter compared to the 2JZ on the IS300, as the 3SGE was 4 cylinder the engine sat further behind giving the car a better weight distribution, Altezza had a six seed manual option and the 3SGE has heaps of aftermarket mods in Japan. Altezza also received some aero options. -
Like I said..the Altezza was handed out with far more performance offerings. As for the 3S-GE....to be honest...I like the less strained smoothness of the 2JZ. The 3S-GE at the end of the day just feels strained and not very smooth. Not that it is a bad engine..just that the 2JZ is a much smoother engine to drive. the 4 vs 6 cylinder running makes a difference.

After a cut and polish is done, is it necessary to do a polish by hand? Or should we straight away go for a wax?

Apparently Australia has a FD2 which isn't a Type R, I thought all Type Rs were FD2
