Well...I think by now we know you are a danger to pretty much everything and anything...not just the manifold :)

Looks like RedBull has the pace and the better driver (Mercedes had that previously), but they are down on strategy. Looks like its going to be a competitive season.

I've been following MotoGP this year and its a crazy season.

Same thoughts here. Verstappen is the better driver IMO.

I'm rooting for Sergio Perez this year after his amazing 14 overtakes from last to first during his last race with Racing Point. I've watched that video so many times. Here it is:

His first race with RedBull was also absolutely amazing given that he had car trouble, started last and finished 5th with 19 overtakes or something insane like that. :D

Verstappen has become a much better driver than he was 2 years ago, the guy deserves more win

Sadly the Blade has dissapeared from us for 15 years. The following Auris' and most other models' bases were not very "fun convertable" and making it fun required extensive work-"ups" that were cost prohibitive. With the TNGA platform things seems to be getting better.

Yeah it sucks the Master G didnt have any successor, here in Australia the popularity of Crown had trickled down into the Blade Master but I heard theres not many in Japanese auctions

Not really....Toyota has plenty of boring cars but those are the usual super market runners. The 4Runner is probably the only Toyota car that still carries the old school Toyota way of doing things....if you look at old Toyotas they were designed and built to be understanted and bland...for the average non-caring...kmpl counting Marys and Joes. However, they also took these land cars..did some tweaks that turned them in to completely different creatures for the more youthful and passionate at heart. The 4Runner is one of the few cars that still can pull that off.

    Toyota Blade Master G :D

    Hi Guys,

Continuing my car hunt for a non ridiculously priced car. I'm  looking for a car that is  relatively comfy around 1.2-1.4 Mill. There are early 90s Diesel Barges for this budget. Nissan Bluebird U12 and Camry/Vista CV30.  64- plates. Have a couple of questions for the experts here.

    1. What would be the better choice between Bluebird and Camry/Vista? Parts wise? Engine reliability? Easy to live with? Performance?

    2. SU12 Bluebirds are almost same price or more expensive as CV30 Camry's...given that Toyota's are more expensive usually is there a specific reason for this?

    3. How reliable are these old diesels(Bluebird has the vanette LD engine and Camry has 2C )? Can a one time engine overhaul sort things out for a reasonable time? How would these engines fare at emissions test?

I don't have a specific reason for buying diesel but prices seem relatively ok and you can't find petrol variants of these cars easily.

    Any other suggestions are welcome.

V30 Vista is a beautiful car, but I haven't seen one in a very long time, they seem to be some what rare. Parts are bit hard to come by including mechanical parts. Last time when I went looking for CV30 parts, some spare parts shops didnt even know the model.

Its funny I'm looking for the same 2 cars as you these days but I'm looking for for the SU13 and SV40 though, and I',m looking for the Petrol ones because I cant stand the noise of Diesels, and diesel engines are not that good compared to petrol's. Specially given that these cars are almost more than 25 years old.

Petrol is either EU13(SR18) or HU13(SR20) and diesel is SU13(CD20)

Well....for starters it was the permits...then it was the whole engine size to body weight thingy...apparently this guy who set the laws of physics has made it such that for a large vehicle with added weight to move at decent pace it requires more power. At the time this meant larger engines and also at the time large diesel engines were more economical than their petrol counterpart (the higher low end torque made it easier to drive around town as well). Add to that the fact that the permits at the time had a engine capacity of 1500-1800cc for petrols and 2000cc-2200cc? for diesels...people went for the diesels for better value for money (I think there was a capand you had to pay some other duty for anything in excess of that).

To be honest...a 1.8L V40 was not the most zippiest car around...it had like 120hp but it was quite lethargic (low on torque and weighed a good 1200kg or something close). The diesel had less power (100hp or something ?) but had oodles of torque. A friend of mine had a hardtop petrol V40 and another a V30 Camry diesel. The diesel would smoke the petrol one off the mark everytime....but it did run out of puff at about 100kmph :D

So yeah...almost all large cars you would find from back them would be diesel

The CV30 Camry is diesel intercooler turbo, 2C intercooler turbo to be specific. Have driven one and can confirm its pretty quick. A small light on the instrument cluster comes on when the turbo kicks in :D

  6. We have a U13 Bluebird diesel, mechanical parts are available around Kandy and Kurunegala but body and interior parts are rare. We ripped off a 2.0L SSS in Japan and brought down the parts. The 2.0L SSS has different bigger brakes, slightly lower suspension, different interior with more body hugging seats, wood trim on the dash, more seat driver seat adjustments, rear seat console and brown tinted glasses.

There are 1.8L SSS variants in SL but highly down any of the 2.0L made it to SL.

Hmmmm.. We are one of the few extremely lucky cities when it comes to Covid.. Fulltime working from home lasted only a month from mid March to mid June.. Things slowly opened up after and been normal since like August.. People even shake hands now.. :D  Massive kudo`s to the government for excellent planning and execution (state and federal both) and also to the general public for behaving themselves.. Plus, I have a feeling that being the most remote city of more than a million people in the whole freaking earth may have helped a bit..  :D

The number of deaths from the flu season actually dropped in 2020. Social distancing meant that we didn't even catch a common cold last winter.!  Having a 4 year old who didn't get sick in winter was unreal :D

I`m sure the ripple effect on the economy will be felt for a few years to come, but not many people are doing worse than they used to around here. Some did better due to stimulus payments. Campervans, 4WD`s, classic cars all got sold like hot cakes. Took advantage of the Covid boom and sold my E30 too (sold within week of advertising).. :D People started doing renovations and shit so every tradie and their dog were like booked out for months! It's amazing how economic/market dynamics work in scenarios like this.

It`s like anything else in life really, when shit hits the fan, people/communities/countries with financial reserves and good management/planning skills may come out better on the other side..

I'm pretty sure MCM had more to do with the E30 than Covid boom
