  2. What's up with larger sedans and interior abuse? Most of the 90's Cefiro, Bluebird, Camry/Vista interior bits look like a bunch of sabre toothed tigers had an orgy inside them. This is not the case with the Sunny's Corolla's Starlets and Marches *most of the time*

@MaleCortana Is right, lack of parts is the major plus these cars are hard to come by in Japan too to get the parts. Ours wasnt in a good nick when we got it 17 years ago.

  7. Has anyone done any audio build with car Nakamichi speakers or other hardware ? Are they as good as their home sound kits?

@tiv Take a look in some of those used spare parts shops, sometimes you will find a good pair of Alpine or Carrozzeria speakers from Japan.

  8. When driving. there is this kiri kiri rattling noise coming from inside the rear speakers. Without putting the setup on. Anything to do about it? The normal kiri kiri noise that comes in old cars

Is it from the front or rear speakers? Sounds like the speaker is loose, which happen easily on those parcel shelf mounted speakers

Nakamichi used to be a very good brand back in the 90s, if I'm not wrong they were optional extra on certain high end JDM cars(I think on the earlier Celsior). However the Nakamichi you get now is solely owned by and managed by a Chinese company

Akebono is good, I'm using them on my Hiace, I dont notice a difference between the Akebono and OEM. Maybe it's because Akebono makes OEM pads as well.

Bought a set of NiBK pads for my Crown, will update how they are once I fixed them

Not only that, most Toyota JDM cars have really good resale value, not only they hold their value but go up in price as well

@Kavvz There’s a following for JDM cars here. People who are into cars will definitely notice a Century. When i drove this I noticed people staring, they probably were wondering what it is. My Crown also picks up a lot of attention at traffic lights and at shopping centres, I often get people asking me what it is.

I have used Amayama and I know many others who have used them to get stuff to Australia. No trouble at all

  21. I saw atleast 5-6 GX110 cars on sites and I thought to myself, "ah okay I'll wait until I sell my car so I have the money to buy this noh, unfair to just give sellers false hopes", now I sold my car and not one to be seen. If you have a Verossa, this isn't me asking whether you're selling. I need it. Give it.

The recent JZX conversions has increased the demand for Mark II, Chaser and Verossa. They seem to be moving fairly quickly for the right price

  22. Anyone tried two different brands of tyres for front and rear? Does it upset the balance of the car around corners?

    1. Magnum

Found a set of tyres, two Bridgestone and two Dunlops. I gave up the idea, I think I will go with a a full set of Pirelli or Contis. I currently have Goodyear Eagle F1 directional tyres, they got good grip but they are bit noisy.

  23. Almost every econobox on the road wants to go racing with my little copen! Be it Corollas, passos, rice civics, 80s 90s sticker raped cars and the latest one a wagon r with this V I P 2000buck light.

he was trying to race behind me for like 20miles, I wasn't even trying.

I guess the lack of travel and covid lockdowns have driven road buffs to insanity.

  24. Bit of advice for those of who like me who purchase quite often online.
Recently I bought a head unit and an amp( two seperate orders from a Sydney based store). The head unit arrived in less than a week with no problem so went ahead and made another order for an amp. 1 month went by but I didnt receive the amp so I tried calling them and their phone wasnt working due to COVID 19, when I contacted them through FB they told stocks are coming in 2 weeks so I gave it another month but no delivery. Just like that 4 months went by and I got really desperate so I did some digging and found out that I wasn't the only one who got caught up with this store so i repeatedly e-mailed them but still no response. Luckily I had made this purchase through PayPal so I opened up a case and got my money back within a month. What I learnt from this is that always try to purchase stuff of eBay, Amazon or even Aliexpress because if you dont get your stuff they will get your money back without an issue and if you are purchasing directly from the store's own website then make sure they got PayPal.

@Hyaenidae I have purchased from Amayama, they are ideal for genuine parts

@fiat fan I think my bank card has that, but I thought of getting the bank involved as a last option

  25. I have relatively dim lights upfront. I usually turn on my Heads because I can't see anything down the Talawatugoda:Hokandara road at night with my low beams (has a gazillion little potholes) and don't worry looks like my heads don't annoy anyone since I never had someone flash their lights back at me or brake check me which probably indicates that my Heads are the equivalent of a low beam of another car. Where can I go from this point onwards, I have been looking at LEDs or a High Wattage Bulb. Can someone give me the Pros and Cons? This is for a '98 Starlet.
