  1. Well I guess not since the people with an actual requirement will buy a vehicle that suits their requirement. The 'keep up with the siripalas next door' bunch will buy whatever s the trend these days. Usually what happens is Chamara and his family get inspired seing Nishantha next door buy a WagonR FZ and at the next family funeral Chamara meeting his wifes cousin who has friends in leasing who says 'lease ekak dala gannako malli wagonR ekak supiri wahane hondata thel karanawa hi way eke literate kilometer 45i thallu karan giyoth 65. mama danna kenek innawa uta kiala lease ekak dala gamu' and Chamaras wife joining in with : 'ow Priyantha aiye mama meyata kianawa hamawelema ..koheda itin ' Anyways cars are no longer appreciating assets (bar the few idiots whod pay 3-4 millions for crap-heap 121s) but a fair resale value(you won't make a profit but will not depreciate like a used electronic item) will still remain for the non-saturated vehicle categories. . Only way out of this is not sudden but will take time and very unlikely a) A shift in thinking from the peoples side : I know a guy who gets trasnport from his company , his wifes a teacher who is within walking distance to her shcool and yet they bought an AQUA of all things this kind of thinking has to stop. b ) from the authorities side : an improvement in public transport. believe me I've been a use-the-train advocate ever since i was a student but actually in recent times public transport has become a hellish experience and right now there are like half a million passengers in a train so i'm compelled to contribute to the traffic by driving to work. You really can't blame someone for not using public transport given the state it is in. I don't see either of the two happen - so god bless us all.
  2. This is so true. the 225 is a fair representation of the 20 Million. If you look at some opinions of the masses on social media you get to realize how retarded this nation is.
  3. AFAIK this is true at least from what I have experienced - when in heavy stop-go traffic your battery does not get to charge - acceleration etc is affected. When ECO mode is off the entire output is dedicated to movement
  4. Reliability depends purely on the particular specimen you're buying so make sure you get the vehicle checked out. Nissan March K11/K12 both come with airbags and auto - K12 might be out of your budget. Mazda Demio circa 2000 - comes with A/T+airbags Perodua Kelisa 2007+/ Viva elite 2008 (Viva Elite 2009 onwards is above 2 mil) : Auto but no airbags First Gen Vitz (2001) : A/t not sure about airbags tho. Toyota Starlet is one of the most overrated and overpriced cars in SL : you can get something from around 1997 for that budget There are also Japanese Suzuki altos, Daihatsu Miras, Suzuki Kei etc but I doubt they have airbags. Why particularly a hatch may i ask? Is it the whole sedans-are-not-for-ladies mentality?
  5. @Mbw Dont you have a specific requirement? It's kinda difficult to be helpful when we don't exactly know the context. If it was my money I'd definitely go for Tiida ? For 2.7 mill there are so many options...
  6. ok so basically you will not be around to maintain the vehicle either right? Well really no one can predict the vehicle market in 3 years time. Comfort-wise you'd better drop the vitz. The Allion ( at 3.8 Mil you get the first gen allion) will tick your boxes but practically it is getting increasingly difficult to find Allions of this era in good condition. That leaves the Axio - which comes with a CVT gearbox that has a tendency to give trouble down the line - However Why don't you consider a Corolla 141 (Non JDM version). most of them were bought on permit here and some are still maintained by the agents. It is a bit more thirsty than its axio counterpart. It has a 1.6 L engine and a conventional gear-box. For example this one in AL claims to be agent maintained http://www.autolanka.com/view/toyota/corolla/54248.html Of course there are quite a few Non-Toyota options out there too : Nissan Bluebird Sylphy G 11 (2010) Honda Civic FD1 (2008) Lancer EX(2008)
  7. Welcome to the forum. if you can be more specific about your requirement it would be easier for the members to provide some input as you're comparing a 2 year old 1000 CC hatch with two econoboxes (that also belong to 2 different levels) from the last decade. Resale value is something we can't predict and looks are ...well it depends on your point of view. In the local market some models have the misfortune of being prime contenders for the 'Buy--->Abuse--->Sell' lifecycle - Axios and allions are two such models so automatically your chances of finding a specimen in good condition are reduced. Having said that if you're travelling long distances etc you're not going to appreciate the vitz and its 1000 CC engine . I guess you're considering Toyota simply for the resale value right?
  8. SX4 is a better all-round vehicle. It'll be a little thirstier than the other two but still I think it's a more 'wholesome' choice. Specially if you're a family guy. The IST you're looking at is 15 years old and at this point and is generally a bland vehicle. You'll be paying 2.5 Mill for a much older car just because of the Toyota badge. so in order SX4 > Demio >IST
  9. Well this could also mean many Picanto's were brought over the last couple of years - it's logical that if a certain model is brought in large quantities the number of the same model for sale is also high. Observe that there are a lot of Registered 2016/17 Axios for sale too. well you can't sell a used car for the price of a brand new As per Wikipedia Assembly South Korea: Seosan(Donghee)[16][17] Malaysia: Gurun (NAM) Taiwan: Hsinchu (Sanyang)[18] Vietnam: Chu Lai (Thaco Kia) Algeria: Batna (GLOVIZ) In short we will never know why people sell the picanto maybe it was brought by folks well beyond their means or they didn't actually need a car but brought to keep up with their neighbors or maybe they are all queuing up to buy the Civic 1L Turbo. Just because a certain model gets resold a lot doesn't particularly mean there's something wrong with it
  10. if this is for family use etc. bear in mind the safety issues pertaining both the reuglar Tuk and the Bajaj-quadricycle neither the quadricycle and the regular Tuk are both not safe vehicles . How much are you planning to spend on tuk/bajaj Qute and how do you plan to use it?
  11. As far as I know Lancer EX has ECI-MULTI @Davy correct me if im wrong Well if the car is manufactured by Mitsubishi they ensure it meets the same quality standards - regardless where it is made. The Lancer EX is made in Japan,China,Taiwan, Brazil Thailand - AFAIK it's the same car. So you don't have to worry about it. It's not something like the Renault Kwid. The EX is a wonderful car - way ahead of it's competition in terms of handling, comfort etc. That's why there are alternatives - for example people rely on M**na motors for spares. Even Axios and new allions have CVT gear boxes. Funny how people always think of Honda CVT boxes failing when Axio CVTs fail en-masse around 100,000 km - if not taken care of properly EVERY damn cvt will fail. this is similar to the wisdom of the 1990s regarding automatic gear boxes. You will see even the older hybrids holding up well. Take a look at the number of 2007/8 Honda Civic FD3s still running well. If you're looking for a hybrid just get it checked. It's not as scary as it sounds.
  12. For the same reasons Clarksson mentioned - plus market perception and the BS shovelled by buy-and-sell folks. However this is changing a bit - you can ask any one who tried to sell a used car of late how difficult it is due to the mass appeal for new kei cars. Also in the past (few years ago) and mostly in outstations people did not know that much about non mainstream brands: 'Perodua? aaa mokadadda ee' 'Hyundai apooo e mokadda' 'Sunny hondai' 'Corolla hondai' Anyways of late old cars value appreciating is a dying trend - the fact that you can get a 2018 kei car or a 2010ish hybrid for the same price as a 121 from 2002 that has been abused and painted over with dulux weather shield has made people think differently. But still unlike in other countries older cars still hold their value due to their ease of maintenance.
  13. Between the two go for the Yaris.Just make sure you get a good specimen and get it checked. The problem with your ae101 was because it was probably very poorly maintained and abused and hacked to death. Usually Toyotas and specially the Corollas are the most abused cars in SL. There are many very well maintained cars for 3 Mil. Just be patient and look carefully. For the same price as the Yaris you could probably get a newer Lancer Cs2/Cs3 or a Tiida and from my experience car hunting I know Non Toyotas are USUALLY better maintained
  14. 406 has been discussed many times :there are at least 4-5 threads on the subject. Here's one for example
  15. this is an impractical combo - maybe the alto will do so but usualy the Sunny's, Wingroads and bluebirds will struggle to acheive 10KMPL in city. Plus older cars fuel consumption is highly unpredictable.
  16. The thing i like about the alto looks wise is it has a bit of a retro-hatch look to it.... the mira's rear lights looks very toy-like
  17. perfect word Marinos,CK2s EK3s EG8's are all on the top of choon-boy's choon wislist
  18. Welcome to the forum. Similar discussion are already here these are two i just dug up Prices may not be spot on but you get a general idea
  19. EG8 is a decent car but due to the Ricer-fan-boy factor Eg8's are overpriced and aren't Eg8's anymore - most of them are basically life-size hotwheels cars with engines. Ek3 is a really nice car - and comparatively you have a better chance of finding a decent specimen (despite those also being on the ricer-fan-boy wishlist ) If you're ok to look beyond Honda, consider Mazda 323/Famila too
  20. Oh and BTW forgot to add some inputs to the actual questions 1. I know a guy who would make this to your spec - but he's undergone surgery so out of action for 3 months 2. No idea 3. No Idea 4. Again PM me if you want to know someone who will source the equipment and do all the setup etc if you're lazy to do that 5. This is the easiest thing on the list 6. No Idea 7 and 8 : Last chance (expensive) or those generic shops in Pettah. 9. Damro is recommended reasonable prices + decent quality. 10. Get hold of a Baaas. Electric Gate - I used ThreeS*nha ~105 k for a 14X9 door. Wooden Gates are a bit hard to maintain honestly.
  21. for some reason when I first saw this I missed the 'L' in clocks.... and then I saw this ... this all sounds very weird bro P.S: Did you forget to add the large freezer to store the hair and nails of your victims
  22. Based on this video or any personal experience?
