  1. Always go for manual one, 4 door flat roof one has the highest market value. Auto gear vehicles has very low pulling power compared to manual.

    1. Check the mileage and engine condition. Most of these vehicles are high mileage. If it's genuine mileage even 150,000Km van should have good condition. If you see something around 80K or 90K for this type of van, then it;s most probably altered mileage.

    2. Check the body condition, some vehicle comes as nice pack and are altered one in Sri Lanka

    3. Especially, ride around good 5Kms and feel the quality of the vehicle. Most of these vehicles need entire suspension overhaul.

    Pros of this vehicle

    -----------------

    1. Good fuel economy. Outstation 16Km/L, Colombo 10-12Km/L.

    2. Very reliable vehicle

    3. Cheap parts

    4. Good market demand

    5. Safter than normal van due to front bonnet

    Cons of this vehicle

    ----------------

    1. Very bumpy/rough ride (compared to a car)

We had CR41, flat roof, manual vehicle with us and it's one of the best vehicle we had in our life.

OMG, Thanks a lot bro...really helpful for me...

Got the all info I need from ur description...

    And just another question,

And is there any different of the demand (reselling value) between Manual and Auto ??

    Because my budget is 2.5Mil..

    Thanks a lot..

  2. CR41 is 2WD model with 2C engine

    CR42 is 2WD model with 3C engine

    CR51 is 4WD model with 2C engine

what are your requirements from them?.

Need to select an economical vehicle, but my budget is 2.5Mil...

And what about the average fuel economy CR51 and the resale value ??

    Thank You

  3. Hi Guys,

I have a Toyota Townace KR41 (1998) GL, Petrol, Auto Transmission, Flat Roof, 4 Doors... :music-smiley-012:
And is it okay to convert it to a Diesel engine ?? And i'hv heard that there are different type engines...such as 2C, 3C , 3C Turbo...

    So,

    what are the differences ??

    Fuel Economy ??
    Average prices ??

    Thank You :music-smiley-004:

  4. There are plenty of places to get the interior trappings, roof cuts, side cuts, glasses and the full works, BUT my dear Sahan however much you modify you will never get that original factory finish and you are also bound to have various complications and problems. I am telling you this because I had a 4WD Delica P25 (commonly called PO5 which is the 2WD) which was spruced up by the previous owner with original equipment of the Star Wagon. It looked very impressive and was a one of a kind on the road turning many heads BUT it had various complications because of the transformation.

Why don't you just sell your CR27 and get an original CR22?

    CR22 HAS A GOOD RESELLING VALUE ??

  5. Hi guys,

I have a Toyota Townace Cr27 4 door high roof vehicle (252) and i need to modify it like this picture i attached here..
And if u guys, know any professional place to modify it, please let me know

    1) place to buy the stuff ??
    1) Place to modify it ??

And it's having a normal diesel engine, Is it powerful enough for a dual AC unit?

  6. CR36 is the 4WD model of the town ace

CR27 is the normal 2WD model of the town ace this is the common model

CR22 afaik is the royal lounge limited twin moon roof trim level this come with ether 2CT or 3CT engine this is the full option model they are hard to find because they are rare in SL

if you want best resale value go for the CR22 they are have more reselling market than other models and if you want best fuel economy go for the CR27 and find a flat roof one with 4doors they have more second hand market value but if you can find a CR22 for your budget i advise you to buy one it maybe do max 2 or 3 KMPL less than CR27 but it have way more options and luxury's than CR27 any ways good luck fella.

wrong CR22 is the royal lounge limited twin moon roof edition they come with 2CT or 3CT engines and rare in SL

Thanks a lot dude....looking for a high roof, Becasue it has more space.. :sport-smiley-004::smilie_liebe9:

  7. As far as I am aware there is no CR22. There is a CR26 which has the 1C diesel engine and which is the previous model to the CR27/CR36 which has the 2C engine. The CR36 is the 4WD and the CR27 is the 2WD. These models also came in 2 variants, popularly known as the the dolphin model and the later lotto model in SL.

There is also a model with the 2C "molli model" engine which was a later model 2C engine which was also found on the late model CR27/CR36 Lotto models and early model Noah vans. These are 2ltr engines. There is also a 2.2ltr turbo engine which is a bit rare to find.

I had a TownAce 4WD CR36 and a relative of mine had a CR27 automatic which he later converted to manual. Both were 5 door dolphin models. My one was a DX basic and my relative had the GL which had a clock, cloth trim, full hood lining, fabric carpets and full door trim which were not there in my DX. Both had heated rear glass and wiper.

There is also the luxury model If I am correct badged "GXL" or "FXV" with full lights front and rear, full option, sun-roof, rotating seats, needle punch carpets, curtains, digital clock, RPM meter, dual A/C and they come in 2WD and 4WD. This is the model in your photo, which is a 2WD Automatic.

As for fuel consumption there was hardly a difference to speak of between the two. If I remember correct they used to do 11-12 kmpl in Colombo which went up to around 14-15kmpl out of Colombo.

They were very reliable. We've been on many trips around the country and the 4WD ( with high and low transfer) has been taken on some very rough terrain at Yala, Wasgamuwa, Udawalawa, Bundala (severe mud, sand, rocky terrain etc etc) which it handled well except that the ground clearance I felt was a bit inadequate. Anyway always it came through with no damage to the undercarriage except a few scrapes on the guards protecting the transfer case, sump and fuel tank. The downside of the 4WD is that the steering (power steering) feels a bit rough with quite a lot of kickback being thrown-up from the front wheels at moderate to fast speed on uneven terrain/roads. This was not there in the 2WD.

You should be able to get a reasonably good basic model DX or GL for around 20, and the luxury model for around 25. Re sale would not seem a problem as there are people who prefer these to the Noah CR42/KR42 as interior space in these is slightly more than the Noah models.

Thanks a lot dude, Really helpfull for me...

  10. like Nilantha said you can't do a complete conversion while retaining 5 opening doors. either you'll have to seal the 5th door or weld a side cut off an original noah. sealing the door is cheaper but results could vary and its very time consuming. installing an original noah side cut is the best choice because it gives the most original look and if it came with the cavity for the rear a/c unit it saves even more time. however the side cut alone could cost you upto 250000 rupees.

    oops...!

If is that so, I'm not going for a side cut...! But need other additional stuff.... :speechless-smiley-006::sad-smiley-067::speechless-smiley-004:

  11. i know you are talking about the SR40 seats, but instead try to go for the Voxy's seat(which is the next model) it fits perfectly, my cousin fitted that to his townace

Ya i need that "SR" blue colour noah seat set..actually i dont know much about voxy type..what may be the cost of that seat set?? Thanks buddy :D
