  1. @pdeeban, was it one of the new models, like YOM after 2010?
  2. Guys, Can anybody point me in the right direction to verify if body conversions have taken place and if so if they've been done as per the law (taxes paid, authorities notified etc... etc...)? As many of you pointed out RMV is one good source of information but I don't think going to RMV with the vehicle registration number will help. How would you handle this? Thanks AF79
  3. Hi Guys, Thanks for the heads up, invaluable! Yala, you mentioned about a "Club" for vehicles like these. Do you know their name/location? Can anybody point me in the right direction to verify if body conversions have taken place and if so if they've been done as per the law (taxes paid, authorities notified etc... etc...)? As many of you pointed out RMV is one good source of information but I don't think going to RMV with the vehicle registration number will help. How would you handle this? Do you think vehicles with locally converted bodies are safe in case of accidents (I know no accident is safe but you know what I mean)? Thanks once again for your comments, suggestions etc... etc... Really appreciate them. AF79
  4. Hi Priyanka and Miniace, Wow, thanks for that info. Didn't know about that before. Suppose it's a 160 carrying a Y60 body (this is likely to be the case unless if the seller has made a mistake with the YOM in the Ad which, I think is very remote) fitted as per the book, do you see a problem in terms of say safety etc... etc...? 5. Hi Nexus, thanks for valuable information! Appreciate it. - AF79
  6. Hi Guys, In love with a Patrol Y60, LWB, YOM is 1984! Not sure if this is a good decision because 1. Level of maintenance that’s going to be required over the next few years – I know it’s hard to tell w/o inspecting the vehicle but we’re talking about a 1984 Y60 which has been running on local roads for the past two and half decades! How’s the parts availability? 2. Ability to resell it in few years for a decent amount 3. Suitability for day to day use (especially in terms of fuel costs) 4. Wife has threatened that she’s gonna take public transportation whenever I drive this – Don’t worry I got this (I think)! What do you think? Few more questions if you got a minute! I intend to do a few modifications: - Replace the front and rear bumpers with steel winch front bumper and steel rear bumper. - Add a snorkel - Replace the current set of wheels with aggressive mud tires – not sure about the size need to check on this. What do you recommend? 5. Where do you think I should look for parts? 6. What are the reliable places where I can get a good job done? 7. Will this reduce the resell value? (I have this bad feeling it can!) Looking forward to hear from you! Thanks for reading my post. P.S. I already read a few other threads on Y60s but I couldn’t gather much on the above questions. AF79
  7. Hi Guys, Many thanks to all of you for your invaluable advice and suggestions. I knew it's going to be a mix of views. You guys got me thinking and it is good. I am usually not from the camp of "buying using others' permits", in fact I have ignored such opportunities in the past but as MoneyMaker points out this is happening widely! Its seemed there are ways to alleviate the risks hence wanted check with you. But based on what I've heard and read above, it turns out there are no fail proof means of dealing with the risk. I value my peaceful sleep at night. With that thought in mind, I thank all of you once again for your advice! Cheers, AF79
  8. Hey guys Crosswind & VVTI, Many thanks for your input, 100% agreed! AF79
  9. Hi Guys, I’m a worker in the private sector, so no permits for me But I have come across a chance of buying a permit (nothing is finalized yet, this is the stage where I seek advice from you experts re. this matter), one of those non transferable for 3 years permits. I’m about to shoot some questions for which some of you might giggle from both ends but bear with me, help the poor guy who is seeking some advice/info. 1) Is it safe to import a vehicle with a permit I purchased from somebody? Is there any way to protect myself from say the permit holder claiming ownership for the vehicle at a later time? If you are wondering if I know about the permit owner, hell no… He is a perfect stranger to me. All I’m looking for is some way of legally protecting my investment. 2) I’m short of cash (I know what you are thinking, but hey I like to drive a crossover too). But can comfortably pay the loan I'm looking for (yeah, I get a decent salary). But many places I checked with don’t offer loans for people like me who are trying to buy vehicles on permits don’t belong to them. Are there any places you know of (again not those “poli-mudalalees”) that finance pathetic projects like these? Appreciate much if somebody can shed some light on the above. Like I said, am new to this permit business, just came across some chance and considering. Many thanks for taking time to read my post! Adios, AF79
  10. Hi Guys, Thanks for your quick and valuable response! @Kelum_WJ, will try SL and PL. Thanks for the info! AF79
  11. Hi, Can anybody let me know of a reliable place where I can get a set of reverse sensors and a camera (with a display unit) fixed to my Tucson 2011? TIA AF79 P.S. Did search this forum for info but did not yield good results, hence making a new post.
  12. Hi guys, Thanks for the info. The design issues you've pointed out is certainly a concern. Appreciate more comments/thoughts on dependability of Kyron as a SUV and its price (registered) on the market. TIA, AF79
  13. Hey TS, thanks for your thoughts. Appriciate it! Anybody care to add info on other Q's I've raised up there? TIA AF79
  14. Hi, Thinking of buying a Kyron (2009/2010) but not familiar with Ssangyong products. Can somebody shed some light on a. what would be the price of a registered Kyron (2009/2010)? b. Is it a good option for a SUV (inexpensive of course)? (I've heard the problems Ssangyong were going through in the recent past) c. What are the other options for a similar price range? Looking forward to hear from you folks! TIA, AF79
