  1. On the Hornet 250 there is no timing chain. Its gear driven so it should not have anything to do with a timing chain. However will be ripping apart the head with the Mechanic and i have a feeling its the valve shims. Does anyone know a place i can buy valve shims from? or even a place i can get them machined and a cut?
  2. do they give license for 17 year olds?
  3. ive been riding for 6 months without signal lights in the front... no cop scenes so far.. touch wood!
  4. correct me if wrong... a 4 cyl bike with DOHC they require valve adjustments and not tappets replacing right? On idle my engine seems to be making alot of mechanical noise, this wasnt there before. On the other hand there is a loss of power. I do suppose this happens when the valves go out of spec and need adjusting... ive done about 12k on the clock and not sure if the previous owner did any adjusting with the valves before. The other day the bike started to misfire, the carbs are out of tune yes, but i think its time the valves need adjusting too... Anyone recommends a competitive mechanic for 4cyl bikes? My mech guy is quite good but ive never seem him adjust valves... not sure if other riders take it to him... he does get some fancy bikes but any recommendations are appreciaited.
  5. anyone here knows a place to get Valve clearances and cam timing adjusted on a 4 cyl bike? The valve adjustment and carb tuning is of first priority... Its time i do the valves on my bike... i do most of the services at home on my own... i have an idea on how to reset valves on the bike but for some reason im a bit afraid and short of time... not sure if it might need new shims and stuff... The valves seem to make alot of noise... on idle theres alot of mechanical noise from the engine. Details of a well known competitive bike mechanic is appreciated. Thanks a ton in advance!
  6. For more cheapo stuff... You need to start watching mightycarmods on youtube!
  7. Hey guys... Im planning on buffing some metal and brushed stainless steel bits. Im looking for Autosol. Normally comes in a tube i suppose. Does anyone know where i can purchase it in Colombo? Thanks a ton!
  8. yeah its like an "O" ring but bigger. the petcock is operated by vacuum and the busted gasket due to loss of pressure is letting out fuel into the carbs and the floats leak. Thanks... will keep trying. I wonder if any biker guys in here have experience anything similar
  9. Ahaaa i see where your going.... dont worry about my world mate... Burnout and handbrake is on the same level. No ultra! (troll face)
  10. Gosh... simple stuff... Hold the clutch and brake down on 1st gear.... This is how i do it.. lol! If you have good muscle reflexes... Gear on 1st... brake and clutch held down.. quick release the brake and stamp the accelerator while lifting the clutch off... If your fast... you will feel no vehicle judder/ clutch drag/over rev... the vehicle will just take off like it normally does... you have to be fast thoh. Warning: the above method may sometimes cause wheel spins which is super cool!
  11. where can you buy rubber sealant? Ive tried many places for the last year ive owned the bike... Specially panchikawatte... Nope... they ddnt have it. They tried to sell me the whole unit which is not needed. Ebay has got "petcock rebuild kits" but none in Sri Lanka. Rubber sealant should do the job... let me know where i can find it... Or i might have to look at making one myself with a blade and fuel hose... its a tiny little thing.
  12. Hey guys Im experiencing a slight fuel leak from my fuel tap on the bike. I previously sealed it with Araldite gum... its quite good but has now given away. I found out the reason for the leak was a worn out rubber gasket. This however is very hard to find as its a tiny little thing no one is really bothered to stock it. So ive decided to glue it. I was wondering if Gasket sealent would do the same thing? Gasket sealent is resistant to petrol so i assume it should stop the leak? please advise. i believe Araldite is resistant too? correct me if wrong. If gasket sealant is suitable for the fix, where can i purchase the sealant from? could you recommend a place. Thanks
  13. A colleague of mine who ran to the funeral confirms it was a Toyota vitz and he had apparently had it modified too... The story about returning from the airport is true and correct... also the friend whom he dropped off close by confirms that he had missed calls at 3am just after he was dropped... but the guy was asleep and did not notice the calls until morning.
  14. Ive been in the Hilux and the Navara... i like what the Hilux looks like... to me it just looks really good, the Navara is quite good too if your looking for something thats going to be on the road most of the time... But hey if you want something that is really as hard as a rock go for the Mitsubishi L200... my company owns a fleet of 3 now and the first one is almost 2 years and its been put to hard use every day... yes... to tell you how frequent.. its used every day for Safaris at all the national parks in Sri lanka... the company i work for is into wildlife safaris and we use L200's brand new from the agent in colombo... we also currently use a Toyota land cruiser, has good 4wd but also has alot of repairs once in 2 months... the L200 is solid! its just my opinion in terms of hard as a rock use... It doesnt look that good but does the job!
