  1. I bought a second hand car about 5 months back. And few days later noticed a Cockroache was inside it then removed him and parked it in the sun with doors opened Again another appeared So I did an interior cleaning where they said they found a lot of insect dropings and eggs in the back of the car and removed them They didn't remove the roof and upholstery or the carpets (original velves ones) saying that needed to be cut to be removed. He also told that insects couldn't be there on the roof as it gets heated in the sun. But again Cockroaches. And a service and few months of sun bathing later still Cockroaches. It's been few months so it's past the life cycle of a roach so they may be reproducing in the car. I would like to ask experts what should I do. I didn't use poisons yet as it would be bad for the occupants also and if they all die inside it would be smelly inside. I've noticed that they usually come out in the evenings. Would be thankful for any ideas or suggestions on this matter
  2. If the reasons for selling the fd1 were ground clearance and fuel economy. The fuel economy issue will not get settled by buying another 1.8car. And the ground clearance will not get settled by buying a car. What you need is a diesel Suv And for your budget it would be a korean one. As you are searching 2008 allion You can go for a 2008 or 2009 Santafe. Handles like a car. Adequate ground clearance. And comfortably does more than 12 on diesel in colombo
  3. I think korean vehicles ticks all your boxes. You can easyly buy a post 2006 sorrento/santafe at that price. Now they are actually cheaper to maintain than their Japanese rivals
  4. glad you dropped the Perodua it's not worth that money
  5. Most shops who do auto colours have that option. but they only match it to the level of the eye, so unless you paint the whole panel there will be a slight difference in the colour. But it will be better than using the original colour code as the paint may have faded away by now. I sent you a PM check your inbox
  6. Initially when the NZT260s where 1st brought to sri lanka i asked the agents and they said the box was maintenance free and only needed checking of oil, but i was suspicious. Now they are telling it needs 40 000km oil changes and rightly so, sometimes bad experiences from sri lankan users may have lead the company to advice on this. Balance the cost of replacing a new gearbox and doing frequent oil changes, Then you can understand what to do.
  7. GP1 is the best, The suzukis come with 660cc engines and will feel underpowered in long distance travel, And don't even consider the Axia, it will not do good on fuel and no way near in build quality even with the suzukis. You can avoid the initial depreciation by going for a rgistered and slightly used car, that way you can get an aqua into your budget, not saying that the aqua is better than the GP1 I prefer the GP1, but the aqua will keep your neighbours and co-workers happy
  8. There are people who will match the colour to the current colour of the car by removing the fuel filler lid and matching colours according to it
  9. U and I'll have RPM meters and climate control ACs The others don't
  10. Go for the manual no need to worry about the troublesome CVT box right.
  11. The fact is that even if you buy a reconditioned car from a sale you may buy something thats R grade and being in heavy accidents. There were 2 times when car sales have given us vehicles with sever frontal impact nicely covered up. it's only when one had a paint job we realised the car was yellow the fender was blue and the bonnet/hood was orange. Mind you they were bought from reputed car sales. So it may be this would be similar to buying a reconditioned one from a sale, But I dont think it's wise running into a trap, knowing it
  12. 300-400km per month So you pump roughly 30-40L of petrol per month, that means Rs.3000-4000 per month, and if the fuel economy would be reduced by 1kmpl you would lose Rs.300 per month, Phew what a loss when you consider the initial investment is Rs.2 500 000 to Rs.3 000 000.
  13. It looks like the H3 capsized by it's own, probably due to swerving to avoid the bloody vitz, For that damage to the vitz the SUV would take only a scratch in the sumpguard
  14. Google maps on an android phone is far better than the sala unit, We bought a sala unit foe 25000 but after using the Google maps it was thrown away to a side, The touch screen of the unit is rubish and takes an age to respond. I use a Galaxy S5 and google maps work excellently, But the pronunciation of sinhala words is a little hilarious.
  15. I have used both the Premio and the X-trail(petrol) in the list and i can safely say the Diesel santafe is more economical than both. It's easy to drive like a car (that's because my mom uses it without any issues) so it would be easy to drive for some one new to cars. Is a SUV so can take some hard roads, The same can be said about the other korean diesels - economical, easy to drive, comfortable, and cheap to buy. Only downside is that they wear out a little bit earlier than the japs. So they satisfy all his concerns.
  16. You can go for a 2008 Santafe a good condition one will be in the lower edge of you'r budget and you will have some spare cash for repairs, It's a SUV it's cheap to run and not that expensive to maintain, If you want something newer you can go for a newer Tucson or sportage around 2013
  17. My advice will be for you to buy a slightly used car probably 1yr or so, so that you won't hit the initial depreciation hit by a brand new. Practically you can buy the same model for around 3mill with a YOM2013
  18. I sent you a personal message read it,
  19. Look for few more 307s before you buy the specified one, Just search the "quick" site there where brand new imported ones for that price. It's always better to go for a brand new imported one because it suites our climate and roads etc..
  20. Thanks, Actually the full beam burned some time ago in one side, didn't care much at it was a 2nd car and it was a daytime runner to work. Then the dim went in the opposite side Upto now i have only used economy shipping comes in around 4-6weeks will the other option come in 1 week if so i'll go for that. Thanks, Actually we have 2 other vehicles and we rarely go out at night so this is mainly used in the day time so 1-2 weeks will not be an issue, but if it takes loner (economy shipping time, should consider this)
  21. What is the quickest way to bring down these bulbs from ebay, My headlights have burned off and need replacing. Any recommendation for a santafe 2008 H7 type bulbes. I prefer HIDs for the dim and a high powered yellow light for the full.
  22. If you want to drive like in computer games buy a PlayStation4 and use the bus. This is for the other road users safety
  23. So you found yourself your dream car a lancer EX
