Nope, apparently there are few rings. He just removed one. He said that in design it comes in this way to accommodate this fix.
-
Ha ha definitely, this cost me just 300 rupees..

It’s not a modification per say, fairly a simple fix. As far as I can say, the AC system works as it intended to work. The ASX has auto climate control. Didn’t see much of a different between both vehicles in AC wise. However in comfort, power, handling and overall driving pleasure wise, the Lancer is way ahead of the ASX. Driving that vehicle made me question the value addition the ASX or any other mid range SUV could give over a Sedan like ours. I don’t see any good point over the sedan when compared those vehicles. Just pure waste of money. I would pick a Lancer EX or a Mazda 6 over any mid range SUV at this juncture.

Not sure this is the same issue but I’ve experienced something of similar nature. This was when I bought the EX, AC worked fine in the first day and I noticed A/C dropping during city run on the next day. My first observation was that when driven in very hot conditions (like in city traffic) for a while, the compressor clutch stopped engaging. when this was referred to my AC mechanic, he instantly identified the problem. The solution was to remove a metal o-ring from the compressor clutch assembly. He said that due to metal expansion when getting heated , clutch moves further away from the coil thus preventing the magnetic bond. He further said that in time as the compressor wears off, this happens. Removing the metal ring solved the issue and it never surfaced. I don’t know whether something of this sort causing your problem as well. Reading your symptoms, It seems the culprit is the compressor. So better to start from there. However replacing the cooler was a total unnecessary thing in my opinion....

You are correct, sorry for the misinformed post. When I replace tires I usually do an alignment as well (in addition to the balancing of wheels) just so I don’t have to worry about going to the tire shop for another 5000kms. Mere for time saving. Maybe back in my mind I was having this thought when I typed that post. Didn’t occur to me that it’s misleading and not relevant. Thank you for pointing that out @Kavvz. Much appreciate it ?.

Yes machang, gonna get it done with my guy. Thinking of importing the original bushes & source the link stabilizers locally. No point in going to agent for these things.

Ha ha yes , I very well know what to do.. Anyways, had to ditch the Lancer for the trip as I couldn’t replace the tires on time. Figured it’s not that safe to drive the car there as the condition of the tires are not suited to a trip like that. Instead drove this baby. This one belongs to one of the friends who joined the trip with us.He ran the shotgun and let me drive the entire trip. Would’ve enjoyed the Lancer much over the ASX cuz SUVs don’t handle bends well. Anyways I’m planning to first do the suspension repair and then replace the tires now. Otherwise I’m gonna have to align the wheels twice.

6.Front Brake Pad Replacement Previous owner of the car had changed the brake pads at 94,000kms in 2017. This has been done at the agent and back then they've charged Rs.16,580/- for the pad set and Rs.1,443/- as labour. After almost 60,000 kms (58,900kms to be exact) I decided to change the brake pads as they were worn out pretty bad and I had a trip planned to visit Nuwara Eliya. Got it done last Friday at Unit#d Mot#rs - Orugodawatte. The prices are as follows, Brake Pads - Rs.18,810/64 Labour,Lathe & Vat - Rs.4,444/64 So the prices of parts have increased about Rs.2,200/- and Labour about Rs.600/- for three years. They recommended to replace two caliper pins and brake shims soon as they've worn out. Gonna talk to my mechanic about it later. Found out that lower arm bushes are kaput and arm links too needs to be replaced. My tires barely has thread. Needs to replace them as well. f**k me side ways!!!!

I've used these on my previous Lancer and had a very pleasant experience. Wipes clean and lasts long. Couldn't find these around my area lately.

Surprised to hear that agent worked with parts bought from outside. How did you manage that with them?

Maybe cuz these were bought on order.

I think what Davy mentioned below could be the culprit. Busted clutch release bearing could prevent you from changing gears. How does the clutch pedal feel? does it feels like its not attached to anything and moves even with a slightest touch? I've faced a situation where I could not change the gears and clutch pedal started to feel very loose. This happened during a drive to Nuwara Eliya. I suspected a busted clutch cylinder (release bearing) but found out that its due to loosen clutch pedal itself which was causing the issue. If i'm correct there's a tightening nut at the base of the clutch pedal which helps to adjust the pedal. In my case, it has got loosen and everything worked fined after tightening it.

Man that looks like an engine bay of a barn fine. At least use compressed air to remove that dirt.

True to a certain extent, but we don’t need a shiny car with an engine bay completely covered with layers of dust now do we? Besides, with dust there’s a chance of moisture accumulation which could lead to unwanted issues in the long run. Especially for a car like mine, as it’s run on the coastal line every day. So what I do is use a foam engine degreasing agent every other service to clean the engine compartment. My service intervals are very short (like 2 to 2.5 months max). What i discontinued doing is high pressure washing of undercarriage during the service. That’s a useless thing.

How about using a foam cleaning agent?
