  1. Damn! That seems to be in rough shape. Too bad parts are getting harder to find for these cars to a point where owners have to resort to use whatever they can find to make it work on the car. That tailgate lock/button looks very familiar too. Try this
  2. First gen Honda Civic?
  3. Yes, this. Right now that scratch could be seen from miles away, but a simple DIY touch up would make a huge improvement. After the touch up, stand a few metres away from the car and you won't even notice it. ? A temporary measure of course, but this will help you sleep a little better at night until you get used to the car and sort it out properly.
  4. What exactly is your use case? If you're simply looking to scan your car, clear error codes and read ECU data, you can achieve that with Torque Pro. Purchasing expensive software for DIY and use on your personal car is overkill. You end up using only about 20% of the features of the software. If you are indeed looking for a professional grade diagnostic scanner, then the options are endless. You can spend from a couple of dollars to several thousand dollars on one. You just need to know what you will be using it for. I too have a secondary scanner which is a D900 that I purchased in 2015 if I remember correctly. It has not skipped a beat. I got it off eBay and for around $30. It certainly has saved me a couple of times and many of my friends who wanted a diagnostic scan done.
  5. Correct! I thought cutting off the second headlight will troll some people into believing the car in the picture doesn't have quad headlights. Clearly I was wrong. Over to you.
  6. This has been extensively discussed on the forum. Let me link a few threads: Unfortunately the image links in @Crosswind's great writeup is broken now. Crosswind, if you are reading this, appreciate if you can maybe re upload the images to your original post. Thanks! There are so many different versions of the ELM327, each having a different set of OBDII protocol support. What @kmeeg and @gayanath have shared above are in fact two different versions of the ELM327. I have one that looks similar to @kmeeg's but different label. I had trouble with that one with a Yaris (which is essentially Vitz). So if you want a cheap Bluetooth ELM327 scanner, it's best to go with one that is sure to work with your car - in this case what Gayanath has suggested would be your best bet IMO.
  7. Cheers. This should be quite easy:
  8. Good stuff @Hoonigan! The look on the guy's face when she takes off says it all. ? Can't believe this thread has been dormant for nearly 4 years!
  9. Holden Commodore VT. Do we have these in Sri Lanka? I don't think I've seen one.
  10. Your morning starting problems could be due to incorrect starting procedure. You really can't expect a carburettor engine if this age to start up like a car with an EFI engine. Different carburettors require different starting procedures. So follow the procedure that's best for your car. Here's a video of cold starting procedures and why they matter. Originally shared here. If you are already following this, then it could be that your carburettor needs a service. If you're unaware of how long ago the carburettor was serviced and tuned, I suggest that you take the car to a carburettor expert and get it tuned. Now for your engine compression issue - you can get a compression test done to find out if one or more cylinders have low compression. You can do it at home by hooking up a pressure gauge to each spark plug port and momentarily cranking the engine.
  11. It's no different than changing a regular bulb mate. Just make sure you have the lights turned off because the circuit after the ballast is high voltage. And don't touch the glass part of the bulb when installing.
  12. That's not true at all. Humidity is highly subject to the day's weather. So you can't say that humidity is always high in the evening. You can go to AccuWeather or some weather data website and observe hourly stats to easily disprove this statement. However, humidity does affect performance. Engines like cool dense air, so higher humidity reduces performance since water molecules in the air displaces Oxygen making it less "dense" for combustion. Combining both above points, this means that we can't surely say that you will get better or worse fuel economy depending on the time of day. If we assume humidity is exactly the same throughout the day, moderately cooler temperatures would give better results.
  13. That's right. We have quite a few in the country including a couple of Ghias. The one pictured is a Ghia as well. Anyway, well done! Floor is yours.
  14. When downforce is life, and drag is just a myth...
  15. When your neighbourhood "3 wheel malli" makes it to the ESPN F1 Facebook page. ? https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10157829471453759&id=172976613758
  16. I was checking out an Evo X on the classifieds the other day, and it looked very similar to this one. Same Enkei RPF1 wheels, same front lip. I thought it was the same car! Looks clean indeed!
  17. @Naved, welcome to the forum. This question has been asked before, so I've merged your question with an existing thread. Please search before creating new topics. Thanks! The Premio is a Japan only model although imported to Sri Lanka. So you are unlikely to find an English Manual Check t he links above and you might be able to get your hands on a Japanese manual and translate it using Google Translate.
  18. Not sure. trinity works in banking. I work in IT. By the way, there's another member on the forum who owned a CS1, then a CS3 (new owner of my one) and recently an owner of a EX GLS. I saw photos of the car and she is a beauty. I've asked him to share photos here. @s.madura, it has been a few months now... time to share photos and experience.
  19. Never touch the idle adjustment screw. The screw is preset at the factory to work with the ECU. If the IACV was cleaned by spraying throttle body cleaner directly onto it, that would have washed all the carbon into the motor chamber causing it to get stuck. There are two coils inside IACV housing, and they are easily damaged due to wrong cleaning methods. The proper way is to spray throttle body cleaner onto a clean rag and wipe the plunger of the IACV carefully, let it dry and install. Give it a few more kilometres and observe the RPM. The ECU might still be learning. The fluctuation with AC and steering is not something you should worry about unless the RPM drops low enough to cause an engine stall. If the problem still exists after 20km or so, then take the car to the agent and ask them to have a look - they will carry out an inspection free of charge. I say again... do not touch the idle adjustment screw. You will be opening a whole new can of worms if you do.
  20. I have a similar story to @K.o.N.o.S. About 10 years ago when I had my CS3, I was travelling to my grandparents place in Mathugama. This was before the expressway, so I was heading south on Galle Road. At Katukurunda, we decided to to stop at a Cargills supermarket to pick up some stuff. As I was slowing down with my left indicator on, I saw a white CS heading in the opposite direction. The driver and I made eye contact and I knew at that moment that I may know the dude because the car had a GI number - just like mine. I was parked on the side of the road, still in the car and just about to get out when the white car had made a U Turn, and parked in parallel to my car. I put my window down and the passenger of the white car put their window down. He goes "Davy?" This guy is none other than @trinity. ? Someone I hadn't even seen in person or had a personal conversation with prior to this. He had made a U Turn just to come and say hi. A few years later, we're visiting each other, working on the other person's car and taking photos of the ladies together. ?
  21. 6th April 2019 - At the movies 21st September 2019 - In front of an Auto Spares Shop Gotta love the plates of both the cars. I spoke to the owner of the white one too.
  22. I think I know this one, but I'll let someone else answer. ?
