  4. +1 for replies above Stay at oem specified thermostat. running an engine cooler is not the best idea. when the ecu knows the coolant temp is low it changes the air fuel ratio to rich and you are going to use more fuel. when the ECU knows the engine is running hot it changes the ratio to lean which also not good for the engine.
  5. New ford focus's and fiesta's also uses a dual clutch transmissions. they have dry clutches requiring no ATF. i have driven both and they both have surprisingly smooth shifts even in hard acceleration.

  8. are you sure that you changed spark plug tube gromets with the valve cover replacement. some times mechanics change only the valve cover gasket to cut the cost of parts. these are the possibilities 1. Spark plug tube gromets are old 2. They replaced it but its not alined or installed it right 3. Didnt torque the valve cover bolts enough plug wires will be ok if there is no break and spark is not leaking. if you are planing to keeping the car for a long time and you doubt about them i would replace the wires.
  9. i use a permatex leather repair kit and they work really well. hopefully you could find one in SL.

  16. whats the idle speed right now? if your idle is very low oil light may flicker because engine is not running fast enough to pump sufficient oil.
  17. when i say this no one believes it. on my 91 camry (R12system) i still have the original refrigerant. my family member bought it new and i had it for the past 10 years. its still close to ice cold (touch wood!!!). best thing you could do for your ac to last long is to use the AC frequently. at least use it once a week for about 10mins. i run my AC middle of a freezing winter for about 10mins every week. most leaks are from hose joints which seals with rubber o rings. every time you run your ac the whole system gets lubricated and extend the life of all the AC components. when you let it sit all the rubber gets old and brittle and start leaking. when you do a full AC job make sure these are done. make sure to flush the condenser and all the ac components. i personally replace the evaporator and orifice tube. after that, change all the o rings and inspect all the hoses. final step is putting a UV die in to the system and check with a UV light for leaks.
  18. use dextron III from any reputable brand. castrol, mobile 1, valvoline etc
  19. your mechanic is 100% correct. if it overheats after changine coolant its air in your cooling system. air cannot cool the engine and it kind of restricst the flow of coolant. best thing to do is put the heater to the High and open the radiator cap and let it run until it bleed it self out. some cars that dont have a radiator cap comes with a bleeder screw.
