  1. I used a 2011 and fuel is 6-7 city and around 8-9 when you travel outstation. The agents are relatively good but takes a lot of time for repairs and presumably there is a waiting list for accidental repairs.I am not aware of the spare parts prices as it was company maintained but there were no mechanical repairs during the time i used (other than the routine services),Pretty comfortable and has a good drive. Its a good vehicle with no major issues but i am not sure whether it has a second hand market I now use a KIA sportarge (Diesal) with the same type of engine as the Tuscon and does 7 in city and 9 - 10 in outstation.
  2. On the dot though i dont have experiance with Dharshana and Ajith. Better talk about the thieves in the market too,Upul and Wasantha are the most corrupted and never put a vehicle to them as they would do something and rip you off, Kusumsiri runs a garage in Homagama under his brothers name and i dont know much about it. Best thing is to avoild Upul in Malabe and Wsantha in Dehiwala
  3. Malabe Upul will give you credit and rip you off and he will replace parts as he gets all the reconditioned parts in the market (He sends four three wheeler guys to the reconditioned parts shops daily to get the stuff) and that is why you cannot find Honda parts easily in these shops.Upul was there only a couple of years at Stafford and was trained by Rohan (Who is the best and mots reasonable guy with over 20 years experiance and still working at Stafford).Varuna is also OK but he does not work much now,Mahesh is good for hear box repairs . Please avoid Malabe Upul and Wasantha in Dehiwala and these guys will rip you off . The best option is Rohan and if not Mahesh
  4. If its CVT you should change every 20,000KM in tropical countries like SL due to dust, humidity, heat and extreme driving conditions. The ES8 does wonderfully well on fuel compared to the ES5 and if not for the steering rack issue its the best in the range. The nylon bush remedy is temporary and you will have to replace it with a reconditioned rack in a couple of months The cost of recondioned racks have gone up because What upul does is he sends about 3-4 three wheelers with his henchmen to areas like Delkanda every day and buys all honda parts availabble in the area and he creates a market for himself. This is one reason you cant find Honda recondioned parts in these shops and it is always better to go to a person like Rohan or Mahesh who are genuine and will talk facts
  5. I just sold my ES 8 and for me the EPS steering rack was a issue for me.The nylon bush repair will work only for a couple of months and the rattling will start again and you have to replace it with a reconditioned rack for which guys like Upul charge around 25K.If you take off the rack issue its a wonderful car to drive. Its better to go to a person like Rohan who still works at Staford and would genunely tell the problem unlike Upul who is realy money minded and unreliable. I am now looking at buying a FD1 and i am concerned whether it would be difficult to re-sell with 1.8 LTR engine as well as the spare parts being relatively expensive .The fuel consumption is also relatively low with 7KM in city. Appreciate your thoughts
  6. will it be dificult to resell with a 1.8 engine in this hybrid era and what is a good price for a 2006 FD 1 in good condition
  7. Hi Guys I am thinking of buying a Honda FD1 and found a reasonable car a 2006 brand new 1800 CC with pump assisted steering.I hear that there is the steering rack problem as in the ES8 in the EPS model and what is the actual fuel consuption/milage per litre.I also hear that the parts are relatively expensive and resale is a bit difficult. Kindly update me to make a decesion on the purchase
