Some of the Jap sets do not function with out the map SD card, i had a similar issue with my Nissan Leaf few years back.

Card is usually standard with the set it would have been nicked at the port or your dealer. Ask them to get it fixed.

In my case they had to send back the head unit to Japan and get a new card programmed. Just inserting the card (copy) does not work either.

    Thanks kush for your feedback.

  2. Hello friends,

I recently bought a Honda CR-V 2018 model from Japan (Ex-Masterpiece). Regarding the Honda Gathers Internavi it has few issues.

    1. The main menu or audio menu is not functioning. But by the steering multifunction can change the audio source.  When I digged into it, found out that the map sd card is missing. I thought the importer given one sd card it will be fine.  But it is only for the music rack and the map card slot was hiddden inside a cover. No solution was provided by petc* lan*a as well. The gathers set model is VRU-195CVi. The importer is telling the map card must be bought seperately from the dealer as it is not a factory option blah blah..

    2. My question is the japan map is not important to me. It has apple car play where gmaps can be connected. But why the menu doesn’t function..?

    Thank you

  3. You are comparing two different vehicle segments. While honda civic 1000cc turbo is a subcompact car, the vezel is a crossover (entry level) SUV.

Both engine sizes are different and one is hybrid while the other is a turbocharged 3 cylinder.

Mind you, that the ground clearance is quite low in that civic compared to civics such as EK, ES series.

Even though the 1000cc turbo gives you around 130ps, it will have some turbo lag. Therefore you cant compare it with a 1500cc non-turbo civic. When I once test drive that civic, it was poor in inital acceleration compared to my EK3 Civic.

  4. I would say google like this

    for toyota - “toyota.jp premio”

    for honda - “honda.co.jp vezel”

then get it translated by google.

If you do not mention the japanese website, you will only get the international/US version of cars and there wont be any premio/allion.

  5. Dear friends,

i have a small clarification to make. Once I was warned by a traffic policeman if I don’t have the copy of car Rev. License pasted in my front windshield, he will be issuing a spot fine.

How is that possible? Can any friends knowing the legal background tell me how it will be an offence since the original was avilable with me inside the car?

is there any provision in Motor traffic act saying a copy of rev. license at the front is more important than the original inside the car..!

What if I have only the copy pasted buy no original with me at the moment..?

    thanks

  6. Guys,

What if there was a heavy rain, and the tires were wet.

    Contaminated water can conduct electricity..

And the story of the Faraday cage is no longer there..

    Just my thought.

But just to tell you guys, actually in engineering theory - the last few kms of lightning strike is going from the ground to the sky.. and not vice versa which I learned in the university

  7. Hi dushan,

You has two leaks earlier. But are u sure this time also is it a leak?

Did they measure the refrigerant pressure this time too?

In my 2000 cuvic too i had an AC issue.

Can u verify this time whether when u press the AC engage switch, u can feel compressor engaging?

Because there was a AC hi/lo pressure switch in the AC filter in my car. But i thought my compressor or pressure switch gone.

But finally there was a loose connection in that pressure switch which will cut the power supply to the comprssor clutch relay coil.

In this case too- you will get dry air blown only.

    Just one possibility.

If this is not, then a failure is happening when the system gets hot -> means clearance in metal pipes will occur. Check whether r they using o-rings wherever essential in such as conpressor connections.

  8. Still the OP didnt reply to this thread with the car model & year and is it auto gear or manual. If he can identify the compressor clutch relay, he can remove that and try to turn on the A/C. Sometimes the condensor fan motor may have a short too. It is very rare an auto gear car will stall in this situation.

Still we cant tell anything unless the car model is told and the type of A/C system. Whether one common fan or seperate condemsor & radiator fans!

What do you expect from transmission.....flirt with you??????</p></blockquote>

Well said. I have a CVT in my 2000 Vi-RS, and when you want to overtake and press the accelerator pedal fully...

The engine goes to about 5,000rpm. Few seconds later you see the speed is 100km/h fcame from nowhere :)

These are very useful. Thanks for even going for extra distance.<br />

I will start looking.. May be a Ceres or Carina GT. But I will go for a well maintained car.<br />

With the current one (it is also 17 years OLD) I got lot of repairs, I will definitely let you guys know once I made my choice.<br />

<a href='http://forum.autolanka.com/user/45859-nsiva/'>@ nsiva </a>Do you still own the car? Tell me more about your experience as an owner? :prankster

    Sorry bimal

I havent owned any carina Gt.

I was trying to buy one for my friend.

Check if any one of the vacuum hoses has become leaky or disconnected particularly the one that connects the PCV valve to inlet manifold. As others have pointed out above the problem may not be due to a timing issue. When was the last time you got the engine tuned up (throttle body cleanup, plug and air cleaner change etc)</p></blockquote>

    Runesh,

When tappet cover was removed mechanic removed one hose from it. I will double check that.

Actually a full tuneup was done in staff*rd within 10,000km.

So i also now believe this may not be a timing issue.

    Thanks.

    Hi<br />

T belt change is not a big deal and almost all cars are same. how ever it will be better if you get this corrected by Honda technicians .i can send you a number for a good technician<br />

    <br />

there will be white color dot on the crank pulley (TDC), you have to lift the wheel and turn the wheel (with gear 3,4) till you see the white dot on the pulley . then open the valve cover and see the cam shaft wheel is in the right position. cam wheel also got 2 white marks which must be at the right position . if not then wrong timing. <br />

    <br />

    </p></blockquote>

    Thanks Sira.

    I ll check like that.

  13. Issues after timing belt change

I have a 2000 Honda EK3 civic and recently changed its timing belt as it has run about 200,000km. It was done in a local garage as the agent told that timing belt is not available with them. So i dropped the idea of doing that in colombo.

After the belt change two issues have come.

    1. When suddenly accelerating from stop position, or with bonnet open when i pull the throttle lever - engine jerks as if the engine mounts are broken like that.

    2. When idling at parking gear, the rom doesn't vary much. But the car periodically jerks and when i watch the exhaust pipe - it gives some hiccups like jerk (is it called missing? This happens when engine has reached operating temperature.

Since thus was done in a local workshop, the mechanic told he has not replaced honda belts but has done toyota belt changes. He said that the crank pulley rotation is anti-clockwise and had doubt about the crank pulley bolt loosening direction. My car's crank pulley bolt needs a special tool for bolt removal- which he didn't have.

In toyotas according to him, when one wrench is put on crank pulley bolt, if we crank slightly - bolt will loosen. He tried that but the bolt got further tightened with some jerk. Since he didnt have the special tool, then he hit slightly the crank pulley on the timing mark groove while holding the wrench in crank pulley bolt to loosen it. Can it damage the crank bearings and create issue?

Is this bolt loosening method the reason for the engine mount jerk when accelerating (issue 1).

Regarding issue 2, i checked when he aligned the belt drive pulley & camshaft driven pulley in timing marks. But not sure whether timing should be adjusted on hot engine.

Guys please give your valuable comments on what i can do to get rid of these issues?

Note: When he showed the first engine start after timing belt changed, engine running was perfect as it was a cold engine. The hesistation/ miss started when i arrived home only!

    Thanks in advance..!

  14. Thanks Sampath. I also drive 12000-150000 per year and will plan to replace annually or 10000km

by the way does the AC need any service. Usually unimo check the AC gas during the vehicle service intervals. But for AC does it need a specific service ?

If you go to a specialised Auto A/C technician,

He will check the present A/C pressure and checking by hand whether conpressor functions properly

Then he will release the refrigerant R134 from the line

Remove the evaporator (cooler) and clean ot with water. Renew o-rings

Clean the condensor (like radiator) by water to remove dirt

Clean the blower fan and replace cabin air filter

Then he will add new compressor lubricant (synthetic)

Then he will connect a vacuum pump to empty the lines

Then he will test any leaks by Connecting with Nitrogen gas cylinder

Then he will refill new refrigrant gas

Run the A/C and check whether it cools properly with sufficient cold temperature from cooling vents

  15. Malinda,

You have replaced with new belts (most probably aftermarket) - OK.

But, are you sure they are of correct size? You had better get hold of a parts manual or ask from agents for tge correct size.

I also remember, when I changed all 03 belts in my civic, one belt was slighly off the specification. Mechanic adjusted the pulley but that too has some limit. Isnt it?

  16. As far as I can remember needles are the same for all four but corner jet (No. 4) is different but that too by a small margin. What is a the difference you observe in the needle (diameter, shape, length..)?

Usually these needles (made of an alloy to reduce weight) get worn out very quickly and that's one of the reasons for its bad reputation on fuel consumption and difficulty in synchronizing. Other thing that can happen is the loss of tension (or resilience) in the rubber diaphragm. It cannot be an issue with a valve cos', if so, you should have observed a noticeable wobble at low revs.

Edit: Get the No. 4 carb tuned using a color tune kit. That should solve the problem.

If the carburettor is VP03- then follow this diagram:
  17. I can only answer that issue with your reverse cam:

I have a pioneer set as the reverse cam display, and if the battery is disconnected, I have to again reconfigure all settings in that Dvd player. This includes something called "battery polarity" for the reverse cam.

Is yours an aftermarket DVD player?
