  1. It's a Daihatsu Mira L700. thanks for the reply.
  2. I see the Oxygen Sensor in the Exhaust manifold. and there is a secondary sensor connected to the exhaust pipe (about 2 feet from the manifold). what is this sensor? is it yet another O2 sensor? whats the purpose of this? if anyone knows about this configuration and technical details please comment.
  3. Damn Rats! one sucker got stuck on the Radiator fan and cost me 5k. Fuse blown. Fan Broken. Motor Busted. 1 dead Rat. Shit Day.

Lol all rodents are the same. One of my rabbits keeps crawling into my engine bay. The other day I found out why. He basically destroyed my foglight/horn harness. Just put up a fence in my garden so I guess I should be save aleast until a rat finds it's way in.

  4. Guys anyone knows a joint where we can source parts for a Perodua Kelisa

  5. yeah.. the issue could be "multifactorial". Infact i was in a hurry to reply to your post. consider the following things to improve engine issues in general 1.IAC valve (Idle Air Control Valve which your mechanic talks about could be one issue but this DOES NOT require a engine replacement) 2.EFI clogged up. 3.Air Filter clogged up. 4.Oxygen Sensor Over heating or sending in wrong readings to the ECU. (This will have to be diagnosed with an OBD II scanner) 5. Gearbox lubricants has not been changed for ages. 6. Engine Mounts / Gearbox Mounts. 7. Bad fuel (we will have to consider this too in the current context) Start with the smaller stuff. and work your way through a list. i had to do alot to get my car back up to a decent condition. i still have some more to do. but in your case you may need shed some more money since you are a mechanical novice. i do a great deal of the stuff my self.
  6. Oh hell didn't see this thread before. I have a Mira 2000, i hope you didn't go and do some repairs with a Maka Baas and waste your money. i had the same problem. car seriously vibrates when driving up a hill or on high load. you know what the problem was? Gearbox! first do an ATF flush that should sort it out. i changed the ATF my self 3 times on 2k intervals (Mobil) and added ##### Transmission Treatment. now its as smooth as a new.
  7. I see a 'trend' with these new Micro Panda owners. Couple of weeks back i took my car for a service and here comes a panda rollin in for a body wash. the owner was surrounded by other guys who has come for a service and this guy (the panda owner) start on how "Good" the panda is. i immediately noticed some green liquid on the floor near the radiator when he parked the car (mind you this is a brand new car) and he was saying to all the gullible people around that its VOLVO technology running the whole thing. (maybe he wants to improve the resale value in his own little way)
  8. Thanks Elvis, Dinuk.. looks like its not really a major issue. thats a relief.
  9. Hi Guys, Serious issue. i did an EFI Clean up about 2 months ago at a Garage and the guy who did the job has left a hose disconnected from the Air Box. this hose goes into something closer to the AC compressor so i assume that it takes in filtered air to be used for Air conditioning ? and since the Air Box is having a open hole to take in unfiltered air (where the AC hose should be) there is some dust and dirt inside the Air Box again i assume would have gone into the engine itself. as soon as i did the EFI clean up i noticed a very dramatic performance increase. and now after 2 months the car has become very sluggish. over the weekend i decided to do the regular oil change and some other stuff myself (for the first time) and found out this whole issue when i popped the bonnet. what could have happened by now in terms of the AC as well as the Engine? how do i reverse the effects of the dust and dirt? Thanks in advance for your input.
  10. Thanks for the input Watchman and Don.. i guess i'll leave it to an expert and ask my friend to put it up at a garage.
  11. hi Guys, i examined a friend of mine's car the other day and found out that one of the spark plug boots is not the correct one installed for the model. 3 of them original and 1 from another car manufacturer altogether. and one more thing i observed is that the spark plug in this particular cylinder is brownish on the ceramic end where the boot connects to the plug. the car is having a lot of vibrations on the lower gear higher RPM (for example when climbing a hill) could this be the cause. and can this mismatch have an adverse effect on performance of the engine? Thanks
  12. Under the glove box on the passenger side its between the heater unit and the glove compartment. pull the passenger seat far behind and get under it and have a look. if not get a good cam with a flash and take a picture and examine the wiring and other stuff (you dont have to break your back this way )
  13. Good lesson to everyone reading this. engine 'flush' is a big no no for an old car. because the detergents used could break apart all the stuff that are deposited over the years in the internals and go in to some god forsaken place and block important arteries of the engine. luckily your's is still running some have experienced total engine failures due to 'flushing'. best way to clean up an old engine is to change oil more frequently. maybe every 3000 Km for about 3-4 times.
  14. Where on earth is the Cabin air filter? i've been looking for it under the dash inside the hood. but no luck

      Elvis_Pil

think its under the glove compartment

In my car, it was behind the center fascia, accessed through the passenger footwell

  15. There is a disk brake contact cleaner. if all 4 are disks then you can do it your self. buy the can and spray on them. Dont spray stuff like WD40 (Your car would become a boat if you use the wrong stuff on the brakes)
  16. Thanks you all for the valueable input.
  17. Hi Guys, Anyone been to Nuwera Eliya during the holiday season, i just wanted to know what the road conditions are now. its been 2 years since i went there. and planning on a trip in june first week. i wanted to know the following. 1. from Peradeniya to Nuwera eliya town. has there been any major landslides and are there any nasty detours that we need to take 2. Access to Haggala from Badulla Road is it again having any aforementioned issues. 3. How is the condition of the road towards Worlds End? any help would be greatly appreciated.
  18. Hey guys got one more issue. a friend of mine told me to get the medical certificate before going to RMV for the new DL, and i went to see a doc and he asked me to get the blood group tested so that he can put it in the certificate. but the form available in the DMT website here does'nt have a place to put the blood group. is this essential to have this information to get the old DL renewed?
  19. So the prius is running on solar power and kittens ('Litter')? man these toyota engineers are crazy!
  20. I bought a set of Dunlop tires from the agent about a month ago. Very comfy and has a good grip. price was cheap with the "discount" , the previous tires were not completely worn out but i opted to change them all as they were of 3 brands front 2 where Nankang, rear CT-Radial and some other god forsaken Chinese tire which i can't remember the name of. the CT-Radial side walls have gone so soft that the tire was looking one size wider than they are suppose to be under normal 28/29 Psi pressure, when i bought the car i thought the previous owner has fixed a wider tire mistakenly but the size indicated on the CT-Radial was the same as the other 3. if you consider safety, CT-Radial will be something to stay a way from in my opinion.
  21. I think you have said enough "parak" thawath parakku karan nathiwa nawaththanna. i've been reading the hillarious stuff he's been saying for the whole of today. but dude seriously if you think the concept of riding a bike or walking is better than driving a car to work or for any other matter. you seriously don't belong here. just my 2 cents. this is not bikelanka or walklanka by the way.
  22. O2 sensor was 5000 bucks, i used a wireless obd2 scanner. not mine really a friend has one i got it done with him. and the fuel system cleaning was done by a pro.
  23. it's an investment really, in 10 years time the thing could be sold to the tune of $1M or more in an auction. Simple economics. Collectors item's do not have a set market value, "inestimable" is the term i believe.
  24. Guys, Have you all heard of this.. just came across on the internet and thought i'd share it with the forum. there is an "Open Source" car project. still looks like a start up but i think it has potential. guess we would never get a car for free like linux but at-least a free blue print for a car would open up possibilities for investors to start their own car companies maybe in SL too. site is here --> http://www.theoscarproject.org/
