  1. could you not have asked these questions from them?
  2. Well I solved the alternator issue without taking everything apart. Turned out the pcm signal wire was not connected. I had a non-ford alternator put in two years ago since the old one gave out and ford alternators are crap. The ford has a 3-pin connector whereas the replacement is two pin. the pcm line was added separately I guess.
  3. Put a G-grade badge on it. Most people only care about the badge anyway.
  4. 190k. Rebuild wasn't for any damage to the engine. Had a oil leak from the oil separator which called for the removal of a head and another oil leak in the oil pan. Since the one head needed to come out and the engine needed to come out to get the power steering rack out for new mounts, i just overhauled the whole thing just for the hell of it. A little excessive but it should be good for at least another 100k and i wont have to worry about any more oil leaks. The bore, pistons, rings were in top shape so left them as is.
  5. can you at least bring down a decent car? I mean come on, you want to show off the fact that you went to Australia (for the record it seems like at least one member of every Sri Lankan household has moved there) , good for you, but there are a lot better hondas out here. You're not going to put a sticker on it saying "This is my Honda from Australia" right? Saw an inbred like you drive around with a sticker like that once. But seriously you sound like you're twelve. The problem is, once you are 18 the car will have surpassed the age limit for importation.
  6. I might be a little late for this parade, but what kind of an inbred would go around searching for one of these Japanese stickers just to show off that he has a JDM car? In fact wouldn't it be better if the sticker wasn't there and people thought your car was brand new and not something a pointy eyed jap took a massive sashimi induced dump in? (no offense to all the other, more mentally sound, owners of used Japanese cars).
  7. right here. What's up?
  8. Didn't get to update this. Turned out the problem was a bad contact cleaner and corrosion from leaving the harness off the car for two months. Got the entire harness off an cleaned up each and every connector, plugged in and runs fine. Now I do have an alternator issue to sort though. It doesn't seem to be charging. My best guess would be that someone may have crossed wires at some point so the alternator needs to come off tomorrow to have the voltage regulator checked out. That itself is another massive PITA since it means the subframe, lower control arm, etc. will have to be pulled out. Messing with alternators on these trucks is not fun.
  9. also make sure you order a new set of head bolts. The torque to yield bolts should not be reused.
  10. Try rockauto. They are based in the U.S. and have it available from their european warehouse. I've gotten most of my parts through them. $43.79 for the gasket plus what ever the shipping is. btw the shipping for the gasket is $130 on fedex international priority. You would save a bunch if you had some on in England reship it using regular post.

  12. hey guys, Any input on this would be appreciated. I had my tribute rebuilt. Basically everything minus the pistons, piston rings and bore. Got everything in last saturday and now we can't seem to get her running. My mechanic is actually not here since his dad died so I'm left with the joy of getting this done. It started twice so far. Once on saturday and then again this morning. On saturday I had to shut it down since a transmission line sprung a leak. After fixing it today it start up with a bit of an effort and ran rough till it shut down. Ran a scan on it and got a code for an ignition circuit malfunction. Upon further inspection I found that someone had mixed up the wiring to the coil packs. Put it in correctly and tried starting it up but it failed. the battery charge was low but I recharged it and even tried a new battery to no avail. Now my odometer displays dashes when in the on position. in any other position it displays the mileage as it's supposed to. Also my scanner will not connect to the pcm. I thought I may have fried the pcm but after taking apart the cover it does not show any signs indicative of a fried pcm. The pcm fuse seems fine and I swapped the relay. Also there is spark at the coil packs and fuel pump switches on and the fuel rail remains pressurized. So now I'm kinda lost as to what the next step here should be. Any ideas? BTW. the motor this is for a v6 mazda tribute with a ford duratec motor.
  13. Biggest fail this week: Ordered in a new transmission filter. Took out the pan with oil that's pretty new just because I wanted to change the filter. Get a new gasket and oil ready to put in and start scratching my head trying to figure out where the filter is located. Turns out Ford decided to make it non-serviceable and it required a complete dismantling of the transmission if I want to change the filter. Never wanted to set my car on fire this badly.

I've read about external filters for CD4E gearbox. Have you tried that option?

BTW is your tranny giving trouble?

  14. If you are changing the oil yourself and have a strong hand, you could get away by not using the wrench as long as the engine is cold. So far I've had to use a wrench only once. In that instance a screw driver and hammer did just fine .
  15. Do we honestly need to know details of Dhammika's fathers history and the type of dwelling they presently occupy?
  16. Well if oil is leaking to the spark plugs it would cause a misfire, which means there will be a vibration. But I guess you already know this from your 50 years of experience.
  17. For those of you who may not know, you can actually buy a black receipt from a cart in panchicawatte for Rs. 30. It actually has the shop name and the phone numbers of the cart owner. So the next time you have someone buy parts from panchi make sure the receipt is from an actual shop where the part was purchased, or you might find yourself being ripped off. An idiot from the navy actually had the balls to buy a receipt whilst in uniform while I was there.

  18. Make sure you buy the G- grade (Garandiya Grade) ok? An unlimited permits bearing person like you should not settle for anything less.
  19. governing government? as opposed to a non-governing government?
  20. 1 hour of breathing in fumes from engine de-greaser will really make you dizzy and feel sick. On the plus side, I now have an intake manifold that's clean enough to fill with water and drink out of.
