  1. The Viva will be a safe bet , the most economical and recent in that price bracket. 110s while good , spacious , more comfortable than the Viva are quite old and dated now plus it will be quite hard to find a well maintained car with genuine mileage. Value for money ? Viva as it is newer , decent build quality for a Malaysian car, offers most of the comforts and features and its 1000cc which puts it under the segment where little tax is paid. All those cars you have mentioned have decent resale value. I know some people who sold their auto and even manual Vivas within a couple of hours of advertising. Others options in that price bracket which are older and will give you a lower fuel consumption figure , March K12,FB15, Vitz, 2001-2004 Swift,2001-2004 Cruze, Demio, Ford laser, N17 , Mazda 323 etc Viva is the smallest out of the bunch but newer and gets decent fuel economy. The car has held up quite well on our roads.
  2. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Philips-H4-Xtreme-Vision-130-Headlight-Bulbs-12V-55W-eXtreme-P43t-38-Blue-W5W/323482848083?epid=1536936004&hash=item4b51148b53:g:ZBMAAOSwcUBYM6UF The following (Racing vision) are the best I have ever come across as a performance bulb. They are the best among the bunch even better than the PIAA Xtreme white plus (in terms of brightness and visibility). The downside is that if your lucky you may get around 6 months life out of them. Xtreme vision, nightbreaker , night hawk platinum (this is hard to get it shipped to SL) give much better life roughly around 1 year in average usage. 100% blue coated bulbs like cool blue advance , cool blue hyper , cool blue boost are all useless in terms of visibility. If you really need a white light and proper brightness on a halogen the PIAA s are the only way to go while being quite expensive. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-H4-PHILIPS-Racing-Vision-150-Light-Car-Headlight-Bulbs-12V-55W-Blue-W5W/323207161304?epid=9003224047&hash=item4b40a5e5d8:g:awYAAOSwVuFbYk-1 https://www.ebay.com/itm/PIAA-Xtreme-White-Plus-H4-Car-Replacement-Headlights-Bulbs-Twin-Pack-HE303/332316797314?epid=8017024781&hash=item4d5f9fe982:g:uTQAAOSwPDBaDBfG If you need a white light while sacrificing a little bit on brightness and visibility these bulbs are the way to go. 3. Must be something wrong with the unit or wiring. Does the reading lamps dim with the other head unit ?
  4. Machan take a look at the following as well Philips Extreme Vision GE Night hawk Nightbreakers are good, the new laser ones are a waste of money , no where near the claimed output and a tiny difference from the old unlimited . Philips and GE tend to be more reliable overtime, their cut off and light are also superior at least in my experience.
  5. Yes @sathyajithj99 I was talking about the body kit of the GT trim which really takes away a lot from the actual clearance
  6. Honda Civic, best value due to the tax structure , most of your money goes to the car instead of tax. Great to drive , spacious interior , offers lots of tech features depending on the trim you get Honda Vezel RS, decent ground clearance for our roads, it’s a hybrid to save some fuel, it’s faster than you think, much faster than the other two , practical and has most of the new features cars have. Toyota CHR, well made , very nice interior with quality materials , lots of tech features , nice to dive, average fuel economy , this being a crossover you would want to have some peace of mind regarding ground clearance. Think again , specially if you choose the GT trim, ground clearance is like a car.
  7. Yes Correct ! Beautiful car let down by reliability, I don't think the company exists today, maybe some assets at Tata. Floor is yours
  8. If your main reasons are things like "Comfort" why don't you opt for a car ? Both those vehicles are like boats swaying from side to side if the roads are not straight, CRV is a bit better though. Both are vehicles from different leagues and if off road is not your thing then IMO the sensible choice would be the CRV. If you want a big SUV which is also comfortable on all kinds of Roads/terrain go for a used Discovery, downside of this will be maintenance.
  9. I took one already today , @Crosswind over to you
  10. Corolla hatchback late 1990s ?
  11. Yes it is. It’s a Citroen DS, it was ahead of its time when it came. I think the floor is yours now
  12. Wow is this a poor design or running for excessive amounts without changing oil ? I'm guessing the latter.
  13. That Chinese Micro car which looked like the Vitz ? C10
  14. Although they are both similar in price , there are a lot of differences. The vitz is a very practical nice small car, holds up well in our roads , it’s reasonably comfortable for a small car, quiet. Good quality interior , gets above average fuel economy. I think the safety model (Vitz) in this case will give you only the auto brake feature and auto Hugh beams. Overall it’s a very nice car for a small family. The swift is more of a drivers car, a lot faster than the vitz , very responsive steering, suspension is more stiff which results in a bumpy ride in Colombo broken roads, in contrast the Vitz handles these roads much better. Of course the plus side of firm suspension is that it will have better ride quality on twisty roads and roads with good surface (highway, road from dambulla to trinco etc). This model is prone to premature wear and tear of bushes in the steering rack. Quality of interior materials are better in the Vitz, Swift is of course more spacious. Reale value, I think the Toyota will hold better value. Overall if your the kind of person who takes pleasure in driving and likes modern features like climate control for example the swift will not disappoint. If your not, the Vitz is a nice car which will be easier on fuel, probably maintenance too, will handle SL roads better and I think it will hold its value better as most of the Toyota’s do
  15. It's also a nice car, fun to drive and has a decent ride, only thing it's a little bit on the small side compared to other cars in your list. As other members stated make sure you get one with a torque converter autobox. Go for a test drive, if the gear changers happen within milliseconds its a DCT and if it takes a little bit longer it can be one with a torque converter. Most accurate will be to check the VIN and explore.
  16. If you are considering the eco sport I think your looking at a registered model which came in around 2014-2015 or so The Good, it's comfortable, very stable in the highway, a lot less wobbly than something japanese like a CRV. Much less body roll, excellent ground clearance for its size, suspension is a bit on the firm side but in a good way, feels heavy specially when closing a door, if you can find a titanium model things like cruise, climate Control, keyless start are included. Really nice factory fitted sound system. Fuel economy is around 7-8. Overall compared to other vehicles in its price range this is really good value. The agents are really good too! The bad, it has one of the most frustrating 5 speed automatic gearboxes that I have come across. Not sure if it's a DCT or AMT but either way shifts are painfully slow when you want it to change, for example when you overtake, it makes all kinds of grinding noises when it shifts. But if your traveling in the city or just cruising on the highway it's quite alright. Secondly it's made in India. There are some minor quality issues which you won't find in something like a Focus. If you can live with a annoying gearbox it's a very nice car. Resale value might be alright since it's a SUV regardless of brand.
