  1. It never occurred to me that steering lock is an effective way to prevent car theft. Now that you said, it's absolutely clear! I feel silly, being aware of the option for years but never really understanding what it was for .. never really bothered to ask anyone, really! Question is how many of us USE it for that purpose! LOL
  2. The moon is fantastic for a handheld shot at that zoom level. 35x zoom is equivalent to 630 mm !!
  3. 131.5k at CMB ELEC with kit (18-105) lens. That's the cheapest I saw.
  4. I saw a Silver/Gun metal 2009 XF at CR on Saturday at Mercantile 's .. KK plates. I guess you all know whose that is .. but this was the first time I saw a live specimen of the new model and man ... suffice to say I momentarily forgot all about rugby!
  5. Just to butt in .. is it true that HR-V has more than its fair share of gear box problems, especially for auto's? I also hv the option to swap an FB15 for an HR-V (2001, H-numbers) for just a little bit more, but am thinking whether it's worth it....

  7. I see a lot of people here refusing to see apparent favoritism at RBR which in my opinion has cost them the title as this point - before the race. You just need to look at the footage of Hemul Marko, Newey and the gang jumping up and down with gay abandon after last evening's qualifying. They don't give a flying %$#* where Webber finished and what is going to happen to him. Sooner he's out of their frame - it would be better for RBR and their golden boy, or so it seems. So unless Alonso's engine decides for an early nap (which is unlikely given the care Ferrari has given to that aspect), it's hard to see how RBR benefited from all this Vettle-worshipping this season. Of course as a long term investment - they are on the right track. I hv the bubbly out to celebrate a deserving WDC win for the most complete and deserving driver on the grid. Let's hope is focus and engines .. hold up!
  8. 199/- ??? They must think all their customers are clueless as to the prices and choices elsewhere. Damn, I would not hv been surprised at 100/- ... what a gall! I will never subscribe to Turbo at that price and hope DTV will learn something if most people vote with their dissent!
  9. No mate, I said Kubica and Kobayashi along with the current top 5! IMHO, Those two drivers seem to be best of the rest. I would agree with your top 3 but not with Hamilton at top - not on current form. But that's just an opinion!! LOL

  11. What rubbish? Yes - Alonso is a cry baby and Ferrari made their best diver win the races and formulated their strategy for him. But so does ALL the other teams and drivers - on a lesser or a greater scale. Complaints - ditto. Team orders - ditto. Anyone would be hard-pushed to point out the 'best' driver in F1 at the moment - each has (no so) distinct styles, faults and strengths but the top 5 along with Kubica, Kobayashi et al are certainly are at the top of their game or getting there. To discredit Alonso is hilarious at the least, because as Isurujosh pointed out above - Alonso probably IS the most complete package in current F1! And if someone goes so far (as the author of the article does) to question the persistence leading to luck, as in the last race, then you know who's kidding whom!
  12. I think it's good car - performance-wise and value-wise, a lovely car and most of all, would stand you out from the usual toyota crowd in SL (no offence ). I would go for the 2010/11 model if money was no issue, but as it is now .. am looking for an older model.
  13. Absolutely! Thoroughly enjoyed the race - which could hv been a non-starter, after all the happenings in korea. Being an Alonso fan, I could not get the smile off my face but Lewis and Sebastian both drove exceptionally under the circumstances. Had Vettle gone on to win and somehow claim the championship though .. I don't think that would hv been fair on the rest of the drivers who hv on average driven far better than Vettle through the season (Alonso, Webber and Hamilton - to an extent). Looking forward to Brazil, which could set up a thrilling climax for the finale. Just hope Alonso could score a podium there!!
  14. Don't think it's an issue at all. Fortunately I've never had an encounter with airbags so far .. but I've broke my spectacles 3 times! And once while I was wearing them (don't ask)... They are a plastic compound (95% of the time there days) and broke without even causing a scratch. I don't discount the risk of pieces of lens or frame jabbing your eye, but I count it a lesser risk with lesser probability than killing yourself in a non-airbag vehicle.
  15. Rooting for a podium finish for Alonso!

  16. Later ... I think he can (re)use the Spa engine at Suzuka and the Monza one at Korea .. if the Korea race happens (there is a realistic threat that the track will not complete in time). But I've seen people suggest that he takes a fresh one and the 10 point grid penalty at Interlagos, because he has fought his way up through the grid with proven results and Brazil weather and racing patterns could be unpredictable. Whatever strategy they chose - I sure hope it'll leave a close finish for the championship up until Abu Dhabi.
  17. Don't laugh now - used to be an EG8, now a March 1000cc !!! Anyways, hoping to carry over the name to an Axela sooner rather than later
  18. Do you guys think Alonso has a real chance, given the fact that he has to use revamped engines in the next 4 races (what's the chance he's gonna sacrifice 10 grid positions for a new engine?). Webber might not face the same level of choice till Brazil or Abu Dhabi and other three are similar. I personally believe he's the most clinical of all 5 drivers but if his car and engines don't support him ....
  19. Kickin' march butt!

  20. Not trying to equate 3-wheel drivers with Lady drivers ... but there are a couple of similarities in the 'annoying' factor: - both types either do not signal or signal in the wrong direction - both types drive annoyingly slow, often on the middle of the road or the right lane - both maneuver and THEN look, instead of the other-way round. - both are clueless about priority There is a difference too .. you can knock the teeth off a 3-wheel driver if he knocks your well kept ride, but you (unfortunately) can't do the same to a lady. Ladies are decent drivers, they just need to brush up on several key stuff which might not come naturally to them, I guess ...
  21. LOL .. girly not, mine's named Storm. Whatever car I buy will be named the same - Storm. (only in my head though!)
  22. Sorry about the late reply Skyline, I was away. I just checked with a mate, the D90 he bought at Majestic City in SL was made in Thailand.
  23. Not to add fuel to the fire or anything .. but .. I looked at the very same Hyundai about 4 months back when I was in hunt for my first car. I was actually after a Ford which was at the same joint which I thought was a new addition, but found out they changed the reg # in the ad just to lure in new customers. The Ford has been there (in April) for about 3 months. Now by the looks of it (I saw the ad in the HitAd this week), the Coupe for 3 1/2 months. No wonder they don't get sold.
  24. About 141k LKR with the kit lens (18-105VR, is it?) on the "duty free" places. Obviously much higher at the agents. Dunno about Malaysia but about 1600+ SGD in Singapore ( ~ 1175 USD) for the kit.
