  1. Kuga is also coming? Hmmm .. that's a good alternative to many boring SUV's!
  2. Anyhow, one of my ways tune out the madness outside is to blast my ears with euro-techno that I hv in ample supply in my USB drive. Then again, while I'm grooving to music and ambling along - there is a good chance that I might be the cause of road rage for some other road user. Sometimes there is no way around this, for example - some people pick up really slow, I OTOH try to get to 3rd the fastest I can (really heavy footed, scant respect for fuel economy et al), I'd like to think I'm helping the traffic move along better - but for some people tt'd be annoying to see me revving up 2 feet behind their back while they are smoothly accelerating with a 12 feet gap with the car in front! Each of us drive differently and when others do not conform to your idea of 'correct' driving, it'd be the cause of road rage. Ignorance and avoidance (by getting the hell out of that situation) seems to work best coupled with driving within the law at all possible times.

    Mazda Axela

Yeah .. but just to check it out. I really want to get my hands on an Axela - just waiting till the funds fall in place. Hopefully by the end of April.
  4. Oh nothing much .. a K11 and an FB15 on and off. Nothing that can't take a few scrapes in the bumper.
  5. I've actually rammed a couple of Trishaws (gently ...) when I've had enough!

    Mazda Axela

I used to hate the Face Lifted version as well .. until I got to closely inspect and drive one at the Colombo Harbour! Man it was awesome - the interior is quite improved in the f/o model as well.
  7. Afaik, it's not the Fiesta hatch they are marketing here ... unlike in india
  8. Fiesta is at 3.3 M + VAT, not bad IMHO. Wonder how their after sales is gonna be 'cos I've had variable experiences with S*ft L*g^c when it comes to Dell/Nokia

    Mazda Axela

Yeah sounds pretty dumb when you consider the price difference (based on quoted prices), that's why I asked if anyone's come across a sub 25M Axela - then at least there is a 0.5M difference! However price is not the only factor for some - a 2nd hand car is yours for minimum hassle and 1 days work. Importing is a bit different. Anyhow, a car that has kissed our lovely roads for 2-3 years is bound to suffer some ailments - point taken.
  10. Big buses trying to do 100kmh and a two lane 'expressway' - this does not sound right at all. We might as well be talking about the Gall Road Bamba - Kolpettly stretch, at least that is straight!

    Mazda Axela

Again, if you want better fuel consumption buy an Axio. If you want sharper ride and looks - get the Axela. With permisson of Rockers & continuing on the same topic - is it better to import a 2008 (pre-facelift) Axela for around 3 - 3.1 Mill or buy 2nd hand in SL (2003-2005) for 2.6 -2.7 million? Does the model year make such a difference in general performance, economy, maintenance (i.e. some issues that were rectified on later model years) for Axela? (again talking about the pre-facelift years) Finally, hv any of you seen Axela or Mazda 3 on the 2nd hand market for sub 2.5 M? Cheers
  12. If they let the big buses in just as well abandon all hopes of 'expressway'! Anyways, what's it gonna be : Matara - Kottawa 1 1/4 hours, Kottawa - Colombo 2 hrs!
  13. Right, now who is willing to drive a Nano to report about it? I guess you .. will Anyone else?
  14. I've seen it on the Allion 260 as well. I think it's the immobilizer system telling you something(Guess you're using the smart key for the Premio) .. but since the vehicle starts, don't really know what.
  15. There were some nice cars in and around Roy-Tho car parks as well. I clocked a Cadillac Escalade, a new Type R and a 911 all in front of SLC. Edit: I forgot to add the 370Z - how did I forget that beauty!
  16. Big, Big, Biggest Match in the universe ... ;P

  17. Aha.. the Mustangs are going to give you hard time, they already started this evening ... LOL. Anyways good to see new tents coming up, but naming one after the good old loo is .... I don't know!!!! Yours truly will be at SLC/Grandstand downstairs if anyone wishes to come in for a tipple. Running the tent for the 5th year and lovin' it!
  18. Sorry, my info is hearsay and anyone taking this seriously will hv to call DMV to verify. But as I've heard you hv to register as a dealer for a particular brand of vehicle with authority of the manufacturer to import 'unused' vehicles. (like Soft Logic for Ford etc...) Any 'brand new' vehicle offered by 3rd party importers are infact 'used' vehicles with 'zero' mileage. There are better persons here to answer this thoroughly than me ..
  19. Yeah, don't think you can bring down vehicles that are not registered in JPN. You need a dealers permit for that, if I'm not mistaken. OT .. why don't ppl bring down more cars from Europe, where 2nd hand market is cheaper for some models. (ex. 2007 BMW X3 could be bought for 1.2 Mill LKR in UK, and it's 3.4 Mill in JPN - I know the tax will be the same based on valuation, but stil ... )
  20. AFAIK, the end purpose is the same. JAAI is obviously specific for Japan Vehicles taken out on auctions there. BV has an office in SL. Both certifications are internationally valid.
  21. Yep, if the boat is big enough ... Seriously, they do the same job (toothpaste less effectively in heavy duty stuff) but in subtly different ways.
  22. Yep, life goes on as usual - right lane is full of 3 wheelers, buses still mow me down and bikers hv infested the land (oh wait, there was no rule against bikers!) Been to Katunayake and back yesterday - did 90% of overtaking on the left lane! What else to say about this rule and the mentality of our drivers ...
  23. Brasso? Hmmm .. I've heard some say Toothpaste as well! Supposed to work. Both are abrasives and will grind down your glass in whatever amount. What do these 'professional' headlamp cleaners use? Again, some sort of abrasive again, I guess ...
  24. I've driven both auto 1.0 and manual 1.3 K11; The auto 1.0 kind of gets stuck at 80kmh and needs a bit of work to nudge past 100kmh. 1.3 goes to 100kmh+ without an issue.
