    Transmission Fluid

Interesting developments in the 'mazda' transmission fluid thread The reason for you not finding mazda cvt oil at the agents is possibly because the number of cvt boxes in mazda is still very low in SL. Certainly none of the 3 or 6 models imported by these dealers hv the cvt box (not sure) and all older 2004-2009 models (3/Axela, 6/Atenza, RX-8) are either EC-AT or MT. Lalith is probably the most knowledgeable person on this, so it's no surprise he has the cvt oil in stock. My only wish is that he's more reasonable in his prices - but you can't beat him for parts availability or know-how. And I saw someone mention above that they don't trust the wholesale (i.e. barrel) imported fluids. Well, in that case most of the Mazda's in Colombo are f**ked because majority of M-V (@ either car mart ratmalana, colonial battaramulla or mazna pepliyana) are dispensed off barrels. I call a load of bollocks

    Mazda Axela

Well, GIYF .... but Axela is 1500cc and Mazda 3 (asian variety) is 1600cc You get 2.0L and 2.3L 3's in US/EU. I'm talking in general about 2004-2012 models which are being discussed in the posts you quoted.
  3. Davy, is it confirmed that you can renew an expired RL online? I thought you can't, maybe there is certain period within which you can. Any detail would be helpful.
  4. yeah, it was filed under satire - I didn't notice earlier .. the part about Akiyo Toyoda testing and being taken up with the RWD of '86 is true but the rest is some pretty vivid imagination. Only if toyota has the nous to do it!
  5. Hey, have you guys heard about this: Toyota Ditches Current Lineup, Goes RWD OnlyIs it for real? Even if so, as the very first comment reads - would they find a way to make even this 'boring and fugly as shit'
  6. You can buy an unlocked version from US as well. Unlocked GT-i9300 is currently selling $350+ at amazon marketplace. I expect there to be quite a few deals (close to $275) come black friday and cyber monday. And the model numbers are not confusing at all - just read the wiki article for S3 or S4 - things are quite clear there.
  7. Pity that, they should timeshare SS2 for quali and race like DTV does. I'm not too worried though as ESPN HD carries everything from practice to race, it's worth the 200/- month ... only maybe not just worth to see Seb boy cruise to another win. :/
  8. Are you serious? Do you think net income is the indicator of quality or popularity or the numbers of the product - think twice and look four times around the net before you share anything like this. Your defense probably might be - lets just compare the mobile handset related profits alone of the brands eh? Wrong again. Read up: http://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2013/07/27/interesting-number-samsung-now-beats-apple-as-worlds-most-profitable-phone-maker/ I grant that the business model of apple has always been to sell higher grade product at a premium price (usually keeping close to a 40% margin on each product, ex. overheads). But higher grade does not translate to best - what they did was to create a separate i-environment which was not compatible with many other standards thus leaving their own consumers with no fair comparison. They are going to hit a wall sooner rather than later when regulators (predominantly in EU) come up with tougher standards like the universal micro-usb for charging, DLNA or wifi-direct for sharing etc. and they will be forced to change their business model drastically. Believe me - EU forced Ferrari to go hybrid and make more fuel efficient cars, they made Mazda stop the production of the popular RX-8 altogether, firms like apple will hv no choice. And apple has already lost most of the advantages they had on IP, many of their design patents have been successfully challenged by others in court and recently firms like Samsung, Google/Motorola has been creating significantly higher IP activity for future. So selling fewer products at inflated premiums work - just not in the long term.
  9. Lots of guys hv got this wrong. Samsung's version for the Korean market (SHV-E210K/L/S in the case of S3), is one of the best versions for any phone model they produce. The 'domestic' model retains the best processor, RAM and radio (LTE) and other features compared to the international version 9300/9305 and the US versions. There's no real benchmark difference between SHV and 9305 versions though. I don't know whether they sell it really cheap domestically though but I know that many of the clones of SIII are off the SHV aka the korean version.
  10. Like H.C. and Watchman, I've been using my S3 for an year with nary a problem. I've been using a $1.15 cheapo cover (matching color though) and the cover is starting to give up but when I remove it, the back cover of the phone is as brand spanking new. I've never used a screen guard (don't believe in 'em) but there isn't a single scratch on the screen. There is a slight crack on the chrome on one edge due to multiple abuse on the phone by my little one - but that's it. YMMV but I thought the S3 was pretty ok build quality for the price. I'm only pissed at Samsung because they've really f**ked up on S3 update after 4.1.2 due to their need to hawk their new phone.
  11. Somebody will make an F1 sound emulator app; you point your camera at the cars racing around the track and earphones will fill your ears with the appropriate sound effects from the pre washing machine era! Seriously, one of you developers get on it - there will be demand
  12. And the FIA continuing on their 'make the sport safe (boring?)' trend is now looking to officially ban/stop drivers picking up others. Mark's and Fernando's warnings were based on different infringements in that they entered the track without permission and drove in a manner which could be deemed potentially dangerous to other drivers respectively, but from now on even if they do it in a reasonably safe manner it could be an infringement. If you look at an isolated incident, it's very hard to ignore the safety factor, but in conjunction with everything else going on with F1 at the moment - this just looks at another (small) nail in the coffin.
  13. Another awesome drive by RBR and Vettel. But the poor guy must find it so depressing to face public jeering at almost every podium now. I couldn't remember it so well, but it was quite a while before the other German multiple champion got booed off, wasn't it?
  14. DTV is broadcasting Star Sports2 i/o ESPN to show the race. Thankful to them! How was Fernando's start? Time and again he keeps getting those amazing starts, to bad he (sort of) gives up at qualifying.
  15. Oh sure, yep we don't even have that. I'm watching it online .. but I'm sure my dongle's data usage will run out before tomorrow's race is over! http://live.foxsportsasia.com/f1/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=Companion+Promo+Post&utm_content=Companion+site+link&utm_campaign=british_gp http://www.vipboxsports.me/sports/formula-1.html
  16. Really? Who's running ESPN2 - it certainly is not in the Fox Sports fortfolio. None of the Indian D2H services carry it as well, so unless it's a C band satellite channel, it pretty well does not exist.
  17. I saw that Dialog EPG had no mention (apart from delayed Qualifying broadcast in the wee hours), so I checked with foxsportsasia who now owns all the sports channels in Dialog TV (Indian feeds, naturally) and yep - the Dialog EPG is correct. I sent them a frustrated email and posted in thier FB, but unlikely that would even get noticed. So, the long and the short of it is, that we are f*$#ed, thanks to Cricket and - to a certain extent - Footie. k9master - the usual suspects like the vipbox carry the UK and Fox sports feeds but they are not always reliable. I missed to check them out at FP3, will do so at qualifying.
  18. Is it confirmed that we will not be able to watch Singapore GP on TV due to Cricket and Football? I'm totally disappointed with Fox Sports asia on this issue for the sub-con. If that's the case, does anyone know a place which will broadcast the race with access to Star asian feed?

    Mazda Axela

Wow that's kinda strange as Car Mart advertised M6 and CX-5 both 6M upwards (CX-5 obviously priced higher, both for permit) about a month back. I don't know if the tax schemes or exchange rate has changed that much.

    Mazda Axela

That's about 400k steeper than I'd have liked, given that the 6 is also great and not a lot more expensive. Thanks for the info.
  21. I too have a lot of faith in Bryne and Allison, based on what I've researched and read. If the two drivers can keep a sensible head and engage in developing and tuning the car (like Fernando has been doing all the while), then Ferrari should be really formidable. I like the fact that the whole team looks stable and mature - including the drivers. Contrary to what the media would have you believe, these two guys should bring synergy rather than chaos to the team as they understand the game better than anyone else. Also the DC article below is a much accurate depiction of the situ than the lame "Alonso is faster than you" jokes so abundant But the emphasis still on 'could' rather than 'would'. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/motorsport/formulaone/ferrari/10303515/Kimi-Raikkonens-return-could-re-energise-Ferrari.html
  22. Do you think Kimi is faster than Fernando? I honestly think they both have similar approaches to raceday driving. Fernando seems to be a little more mature now in getting the car tuned to his liking. But I can't understand Fernando's approach to qualifying, for a while I keep thinking that he should put his 500% in to qualifying but just seems to let the car inhibit him. It's as if he's accepted that 5th place is the average start for him.
  23. Looks like the interest in F1 (at least judging from the activity on this thread compared to 2012 one ) is driving away like Vettle drives away to victory from the pole! I keep watching every race but all the racing is for the 2nd place downwards... Hope things change with better cars under new rules for the other teams and heavyset combinations like Fernado-Kimi shaking up the balance and creating a bit of drama for 2014!
  24. Couple of things; >This is a common issue with Mazda 3/Axela, RX-8 etc. >Your taillight is not glued to the housing, it's ultrasonic welded. Opening it up may take some work compared to a glued light and since none of our shops do US welding (afaik), it will never be back to original status - however I have seen people achieving a good seal. >One common cause of water getting into the taillight are the worn gasket between the light and the body. Since yours is 2004, this could very much be a likely cause. Hence if you don't replace or properly set the gaskets when fixing the light back, your problem might come back sooner rather than later.
