  1. Experts, Can there be a difference in the pulling power with respect to the fuel level in my tank? Or is it just because the quality of the fuel?? This morning I experienced this strange thing, I was running low on petrol and I didn't feel a difference in the pulling power. I stopped at a gas station and pumped petrol (full tank). Low fuel indicator was on but I found a gas station within 2-3 Kms (didn't drive more than that with my low fuel indicator on) Just after pumping fuel, my engine was running like crazy, Pulling power was much stronger. Can it be due to an issue with fuel pumping system (donno whether it is the correct name for the parts responsible for taking petrol from the tank to the engine) in my car? or can it be the quality of fuel?
  2. Hello experts, How do we recognize a problem in clutch plate? What are the most common things that can be noticed from a bad clutch plate? I'm driving a manual N16, mileage is ~160K. Recently I noticed that it makes a strange (but not loud) noise when I press (press it fully) the clutch peddle. Its like something is touching a spinning wheel once in every cycle. Could this be an indication of a bad clutch plate? Further recently I observed only once a very high RPM figure climbing a hill on 1st but the pulling power was very poor compared to the RPM figure. Is there a way to check whether the clutch plate is Ok?
  3. Thanks guys. Replaced the top tank with a new plastic one. Radiator House did the job for 7500.
  4. Hi experts, I have a crack on the top of my radiator top tank. Its a ~1 inch long crack and the coolant keeps leaking from the crack. Vehicle is a 2004 N16. I called A*W and their solution is to replace the top tank (replacing only the top tank is not recommended by them but on a customer request they will do that). Cost for replacing that will be around 15000. Is there any other way to fix this? thanks, explorer.
  5. Guys, Just saw this news in dailymirror (http://www.dailymirror.lk/news/12755-petrol-stocks-contaminated-again-unp.html) I don't know anything about the accuracy of this, just posting here since I thought it would be help someone if it is true.
  6. Guys, I pumped petrol (90 Octane) from Laugfs Kosawatta on last Sunday and didn't drive more than 5-6 Kms. I started the car this morning and felt a sort of abnormal vibration in my engine (I didn't start it after last Sunday). I stopped on the way and then started again and it seems to be normal (or may be I have get used to the vibration). Could this be due to bad quality petrol?
  7. I pumped ~40L from Laughs Koswaththa last Saturday. Donno what to do now.
  8. Couple of years back I did a timing belt replacement of my corolla from Alawatta Associates, Battaramulla. They did that well, but I can't remember the cost.
  9. I took the car to Alawatta Associates (Battaramulla) this morning, and they inspected it and cleaned the air flow sensor (free of charge ). Problem was 75% solved by that, also they recommended to do a engine tuneup. Then I took it to A*W for an inspection and they told me a tuneup is not necessary (after inspecting it plugged to their diagnostic devices) but my plugs needs to be replaced. Did the plug replacement, "for the moment" problem seems to be solved (this comment is based on a drive of ~10 KMs from A*W).
  10. Check-engine is not on. I'm planning to take it a mechanic tomorrow.
  11. I recently bought a NISSAN N16 (1600 cc, manual transmission) and the pulling power was quite OK. I have done a full service from Pitstop recently after that I'm experiencing very low pulling power. I have to press the accelerator to its max to reach 2000 RPM even in 2nd. In the service only additional thing they did from a standard service was an engine flush. Any ideas on what should I check?
  12. BTW, Who are the dealers/agents for Fiat in SL?
  13. Forgot to mention one thing in my previous post, it has the feature of doors getting locked automatically when I exceed 20Km/h (don't know the name of this feature). Now the doors get locked at about 60 Km/h (sometimes it does not work at all) So I'm also thinking it is related to some sensor. Anybody know a good place to get this fixed?? Thanks,
  14. HI Mike, Did you get your RPM meter repaired? I'm having a similar problem with my AE100, If you have get it fixed please let me know the place. Thanks.
  15. Couple of months back speedometer of my AE100 stopped working, initially it was displaying a low speed (ex: when I'm driving at about 60Km/h it was displaying like 40Km/h) and now it is 0 Km/h always. Odometer is also now showing a wrong distance. For example when I travel about 100 Km it shows 50 -60 Kms. Strange but similar problem with the RPM as well, When the engine is running about 4000 RPM it displays ~2000RPM. When I show this to a reputed (having a famous name) garage, they told me the whole panel with all the meters needs to be replaced and it will cost me around 10000 - 12000. Another garage investigated the problem and told that it is a problem with one of the sensors and it needs to be replaced (but they didn't have parts). Does anybody come across some thing like this? Any good place to go and check/fix this thing? Thanks.
