  1. Hi, I once was interested on this duet ( at that time it was around 1 million), but heard from many that Spares were a problem in this model....and also not that many duets around too, with a low 2nd hand mkt due to the spares I believe...I went for a Startlet ( which was higher in price even then ),but was a good decision at the end...

  2. Guys,

FB15 recently I bought , I was told the ATF was changed with " mobil " oil and the car has done only 84,000 km uptil now ( one owner - directly bought from him..not open papers )..what do you think of the oil ? ( only once changed after doing 75,000 km )...

  3. Guys, out of the blues...

Have seen a good Tiida ( Hatch Back's ) to import directly ( 2009 model, auto ). How are these ( in respect of fuel consumption, after sales and other issue;s if there is...

  4. PrasadK

You can check the discussions on same issue under Peugeot 206.

Can recommend you only one place aprt from the Agent, it'll cost you about 1.3- 1.5 lks + autogear oil ( will take time ). the place is in Kandana called "RS Auto Transmission Centre " of Rajeev Dassanayake's..

but I have come acoss in "Alibaba " site from China, where they manufacture autogear parts...no idea how good they are !!

    cheers

  5. That's it. Subasinghe Motors ! Thanx brother!

    Thanx everyone!

To all the peugeot lovers.....there's a person called Mr. Rajeev Dassanayake, who restores Autogear boxes in most of the European cars / coaches / Trucks and also can by spare parts ( brand new or used ) from him. His place is along the Kandana station road called Auto transmission Centre. If you are unable to find any spares in Panchikawatte you could try this location. Rather reasonable prices and a good preson to talk about your vechicle.

And also there's a crook, who owners a shop called " Abirami Motor Stores " in Panchikawatte, near the" Darshana Motors". This fellow has got many used spares too...but will try to play a massive game and cheat on you, tries to be smart....

As Harshana mentions, the other places are worth a visit - specially Ideal, Darshana etc.

I did restore my Autogear box with original spares, hunted down in Panchikawatte and then met Mr. Rajeev finally..

    cheers

  7. Hi RWD,

Yes 2002 are the ones in the market available with price tages from 1.5 m to 1.65 m differing from Manuel to Auto. But then I came across a 2007 unregistered, auto without that intelligent key for 1.9 m. The question in me now is why should I not go for the unregistered comparing with the make of the year and price.. Though I got no clue of this unregistered market price. But will the resale of it will depend of this key issue lateron ?

One person said the fuel worksout about 15 per L ( manuel )in a 2002 make..I doubt it !!!

Even came acorss a 2002, registered in 2005 for 1.45 m ( auto, 60,000 km, 2 owners in J number ). It was good in condition, but had done a fully paint job, which took me off the idea of buying, though I liked it. All other Auto ones were around 1.6 m +....

    cheers

  8. Dear Friends,

I'm a bit interested in this Beetle AK 12, 1240 CC ( 2002 model and unregistered ) and have seen a few so far with various price ranges. But would like to get your expert opinions on intelligent key issue / Remote key, Fuel consumption, Manuel / Auto, retractable mirrors, the reasonable amount etc...and other issues negative / positive in selecting....

( went through the archives but could not find any information ), so hope I could some help from u fellows !!!

  9. To Chooti Putha,

I did the 3rd part for my 95' Starlet from SL I*******. The 1st owner who had used it for good 10 yrs and had gone by only 3rd party all these yrs ...it was only Rs.819 /-...

    Rgds

  10. Summary stats:

    Specification Sidewall Diameter Circumference Difference

    155/80-13......4.9in....22.8in....71.5in.......0.0%

    165/80-13......5.2in....23.4in....73.5in.......2.8%

    165/75-13......4.9in....22.7in....71.5in.......-0.1%

With 165/80 tyre circumference is 2.8% more... so when odometer says you have travelled 100km, actually u have gone 102.8

similarly when speedo says 100/hr you are actually going at 102.8/hr

so apparent fuel economy will change; real fuel economy (within the limits of my understanding) will not change

165/75 appearance will be more or less the same (tyre is wider but that is usually not so visible)

165/80 tyre will look bigger, and also there's a chance the tyre will rub against the body if there's not enough clearance... usually 3% extra shouldn't cause a problem but once bloody A*W tricked my wife into larger tyres on the K11 (because they didn't have the right size in stock) and it was rubbing somewhere when steering full to left/right.

165/75 will technically give better steering response because of the shorter sidewall, but I don't know if it will be so much that you'd really notice

Thkx a million for your speedy and expert reply. Opens my eye....cheers

  11. Shouldn't you be considering 165/75 or 175/70 if you are staying with 13"?

You can use this calculator to see what impact it will have on circumference http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

(the variation will affect speedometer, odometer, and ABS if you have it)

whole bunch of advise on what to consider when changing sizes: http://www.conti-online.com/generator/www/...plus_sizing.pdf

to my understanding, a wider tyre will give you better steering response, but will cost more.

and if you increase the rim size, you can also additionally get better looks (wheels look better than tyres) but will cost even more as you have to replace rims as well; maybe OK if you are anyway converting from 13" steel rims to alloys.

AFAIK If you are not after steering performance, you're probably better off with standard size

    Hi Sifaan,

Thkx for the reply. Well I will not change the rims, will stick with the size 13. ( Unfortunatley Java doesn not support my PC to read your link ). So if I go for a 165 / 80...( existing is 155 /80 ) what will be the final out come ? looks / less fuel ( as of now it's about 15 km/ L avg. ) / good steering response etc....

  12. ahh the advantage of driving a diesel.. you dont have anything else to do while the engine is heating up... thats the period i use to buckle up :D (provided the vehicle has a belt)

well i do always buckleup thatz from EU experince. But my 69 VW bug doesnt have it. The old short seats ....but wish it was there, for the speed I take it up on road in SL !!!

  13. Nankang is Taiwan based. Used their NS series tires sometime back and they were good bang for buck. I think the company is like to the Advan/Yoko group.

    Yes correct, its Taiwan made.

Now hope I can have some replies on the tyre sizes, as I'm a bit confused after checking with the dealer. ( sorry if this was spoken earlier, but pls help me)...

My existing is 155/80 x 13 for the starlet. What are the positive and negative points if I go for a 165/80 or 155/70, need to decide before I buy them or should I stick to the same size for a good performance. ( specially the fuel , tyre wasteage etc.. )

    thkx

  14. Guys, out of the blues.....I got a email from a reputed Tyre dealer in Sri Lanka saying can buy tyres and pay in 6 months interest free installment by Credit card....they say they have "Nankang" for my Toyota Starlet...How good is this brand for mine ? Any expert comments ? Coz I need badly all 4 's ....

  15. Dude...

I call it for a VW 1300 the best for you..need to pocket out a bit more, but can get a cool damn pretty bug for around 2.5 lks.

What else you are in campus, girls will adore and guys will envy for the classic!! no need of becoming shame...you can proudly boast you are a VW classic fan bitten buy the bug !!! Can park it anywhere you need, even beside a Benz with your heart !!! minimum cost of maintain..no need of Car services, just fill the petrol ( which would work for about 10 km per liter in city ) and once in a while engine oil and break oil....only thing find a good reliable mechanic.

go for it buddy...I have seen many good bugs on for sale recently...even for 2.8 lks a damn good cool machine !!!

If Manoj sees this..he too will fill more !!!

    cheers / rez

    Hi Kule

You may go for good running conditions

    B110

    B210

    B310

    KE20

    Ke30

    Ke50

    Lancer 1400 Wagon

    Lancer Flat Light

But those will not be very best conditions, still may be in good running conditions

i think ,Out of those B210 is the best in fuel consumption and also bit sporty car

i got one it does above 16Km per ltr, do you may need max of 250 per day to travel

    Thanks

    Regards

    sumith

  16. "reasonably good condition" doesn't justify that price IMHO

the ~1 million bracket has quite a bit of options open so if i were you ...i'd look around a bit more

I was hunting the same and few weeks ago came across one for 11 lks. But dindt like the owners attitude of selling and maintenance of it. Heard it had gone for 10.50. If you aren't hurry wait and see for more !!!

  17. I think the 5.5k ones u mentioned are the Pu leather 1s.They last only about 2yrs.

sorry forgot to mention, it was some velvet fabric with sides in Nylon .. !!!

  18. guys, I'm looking seat covers for my Starlet EP 82 which would last for few years, but the prices are like.. 5.5 k for a normal one..is it worth ? wtz the best for a Starlet which goes with value ?
