  1. I use a Bush mechanic from the Katugastota area for my work, anything Mitsubishi I give to the agents. If u are interested I ll pass the contacts But its not a posh joint, small place in a narrow road, but will know your car in and out
  2. So I have this habit, I go up the hantana range to a secluded spot way up in the hills and fly my drones, I do it almost every 2 weeks in my montero sport. Since my car is in the garage being painted, i took the family Montero v98

Seems the ground clearance is lower than the Montero sport that I managed to peel or off the rear bumper costing 90k for the fix, a ledge that I cross frequently

Dad has been swearing since morning now. This is gonna be a fun weekend

      @Gummybr will pm u

Your Jimny will hop through it no issues.

@Hyaenidae some bits like clips and all dont move that much ne, they are out of stock

@Magnum the way the suspension behaves its totally different in the 2

Lot of overhang in the pajero, ands heavy

If u loose traction on a slant it will start to sway and hit something.

This weekend I went in the vitara, she managed without any issue. but I was super careful. Had a spotter to watch tricky places n all

To add I have 265 75 16s on the montero sport, AT one size up than standard.

Whereas my dad has 265 65 17s on the montero, almost a road tyre

The vitara comes with 215 55 17s again road tyre but is way lighter and nimbler,

@tiv thanks for the detailed explanation. The phantam 3 series isn't available anymore. Most are used by now.

I would like an Air 2, but I can buy two mini's for the price of one Air 2. Is it worth the extra cash?

Also whats the situation on drone regulations now?

The mini is under 250g, so the FAA in the states. has no issues(under 250g considered a toy). Is it the same in SL? Internet search has hazy information.

Phantom 3 s are available, as they are constantly refurbished, there are guys who sell them as brand new.

Unless you are a drone geek, no point on investing on an Air 2,

start with a mini, but the thing is now minis are so rare, due to import restrictions.

noobs who bought em crashed them in days, so a mini can go upto 130 with combo kit new now. Used ones at 105, 110 with come 80s with standard pack.

anything lesser is broken as it has no sensors and is tiny and fast so fellas tried to kiss walls.

Anything with a camera has to be register3d as CAA, so u got to do that online, and they give u a date to come show the drone. They put a code on it, thereafter you got to pay to fly it aka getting a permit.

i do most of my flying in private property with permission thereby I don’t have to pay for permits, but I have registered the drones through the site, was not called for an inspection to date for the mini.

The mavics don’t grasp attention, mavic mini most think it’s a toy, thus no one goes to register.

phantoms on the other hand Attract hooligans to cute chicks to dogs. Then after like 30min, battery dying; a cop comes by

  3. I've noticed Defender values are plummeting

    Any particular reason?

Lack of parts due to import bans?

Or has the 2020 plastic sculpture affected the value of the old one???

I think because of the new one, I heard one or two came down to SL

Interesting as the new defender is completely different...I was actually figuared the opposite: The old defender would hold its value and the new one would drop in value due to a lack of sustained demand! :D

  4. Gosh this is an enormous amount of bullshit for a small repair, 600k? Gosh you could have bought a speedbike And the sub par work they've done, invain you could have taken this straight to the owner, actually who is a friend of a friend. I'm staying clear, my Bush mechanic seems to be divine compared to all this.
  5. Has anyone recently used CARS Paint shop kandy ? Their reviews in the past haven't been the best but I am being told by colleagues they are good now.

Need a booth paint, stuck with primer due to the weather,

Decided to go with my painter, will wait till the weather improves

Way too many bad reviews on cars after digging around a bit.

  6. During my accident chaos, the offender was a imbecile with a learners permit. As his stunt nearly killed me and almost took out a house with people, I was told by the police that if taken to court he may loose license permanently, And with a strict magistrate or poor defense can end up in jail for 2 years tops. Reason due to endangering lives/ gross negligence I cannot comment on the credibility of the above as it was not a lawyers word. My lawyer was like let’s sue him and the Lorry owner and buy a new Jeep lol.
  7. Jag Xf; I’d except it to be more troublesome but the Audi A6 and BMW 520d are fairly cheap to maintain cars, and with almost no issues, like I said a hybrid cayenne will be heaps more expensive to maintain than the above. If you like the exotic market, if looks aren’t a problem, and IF RUNNING COSTS ARE IMMATERIAL then go for it. Don’t attempt it even with a 6 figure Sum set in your head for maintenance And repairs, it will disappoint you.
  8. The fact that you are concerned about the maintenance cost and looking at independent garages is a giveaway that it’s a financial mistake, for expensive motors like these expect at least 1.5 times average Late model merc ownership costs, let alone repairs. At least 1mil, in maintenance a year, given u run liberally, with just maintenance, NO REPAIRS besides people are running away from aquas with hybrid batteries why would u want to be stuck with a pointless hybrid from an exotic manufacturer with deficient support just because they came in cheap through a loophole and now they are cheap for the obvious. Don’t board a sinking ship mate.
  9. This must like be nirvana when compared to the vitz, pretty car Congrats. something I’ve always wondered, do they do the facelift here, to the latest model, I’ve seen pakistanis or Bangladeshi troops going at it. +1 on the alloy wheels, many perks
  10. Anyone know of a place near kandy or nearest to get stuff chromed for a bike?
  11. Replace the rack mate, these repairs don't work long. U can find a recon one for cheaper in delkanda.
  12. My Montero Sport Saved my life today.

Took a T bone collision to the rear quarter panel, from a lorry, the thing came straight to the drivers door. I accelerated and saved my self, just got discharged from the hospital after a checkup,

No matter what new fellas say about crumple zones and what not, this thing is proper weight to weight. Just realise how strong these suvs are. Just a  large bump and I drove it home. Amazed realising it took tg awhile weight and was shoved to a side.

The lorry was a proper mahiyangana sand lorry, full load, the c**t was driving on a learners permit, couldn't control his reverse into the construction zone, lost control and rolled right onto me down a slope, face first. If I was in my vitz or a smaller car, I'd be in a morque now.

Cops took over the lorry momentarily but I deferred them.

Repair cost approx 100k, given I need a new wheel arch and tail light. And its pearl white, expensive bitch to paint.

Despite my parents and friends deciding to ruin his life legally, the driver is in the hospital after negotiations but I am not pressing charges or taxing him for the repair, as he will loose his livelihood and be in jail.

Best part is, if the car rolled over, I would be in the mahaweli river.

Dear friends, please give up smaller cars when money permits. Get something large and safe.

Due to privacy concerns I am unable to share pictures.

glad to hear you're ok and it may have been your luck that you decided to take the SUV instead of the smaller car when you went out.

would have been better if you decided to press charges just so the person gets to understand the gravity of the risks they take without consideration on others' lives. he got to walk away with no hindrance today might result in him taking someone else's life in another day, doing the same mistake.

  13. They even alter mileages of the CLA and C200 2019, sadly we have very poor examples as agents with a buttload of crap or indian waste being offered as brand new cars, hence these crooks have become the most well off society in this country.
  14. My budget was 7 to 7.5, I was trying to purchase it while keeping my old one, I could scrape up enough, for 3.8l As for the 3l, couldn't find a good example I even tried looking for the petrol 1st gen montero sport, Devindaz even guided me onto a few, never found one good enough, I'm not picky but atleast 50% reasonable condition is a must This one, 3.8l v6 with massaging seats, theres a handful here , it's got Rockford sounds as well. I've seen black and grey ones Those are JDM, distinctive 18 matte wheels and got a few extras. You ll turn the key again while the engine is running. It's that silent. And in tune so well, spurting water off the exhaust. Just ask unimo, they know The one I went to see was owned by a well off businessman, he was quoting 8.5 and was not bothered to even discuss a deal, well off budget. I'm not sure if it's worth the number. Mileage was 115k ish The 3l v6 ones go for 6.5 to 7mil, I guess the ideal no would be 8mil. It was like it rolled off the factory yesterday, that good, was sold within the week.
  15. Reliability Diesel and petrol in our context are equally reliable, If fact ive seen lesser problems in the petrol one. Diesel 4m40 has all the classic 4m40 issues pls search and most are manual 3.2 l 4m41 needs super diesel, timing chain kit issues are common, typical diesel engine hoo haa, pulley bearings etc The petrol one is super smooth, but not that gutsy. Gearbox feels pretty much the same in both. Both are equally noisy 2 to 4kmpl and 95 oc is advised , pls do not get optimistic on the fuel figures, they are not cheap to run, do not buy If fuel economy is a concern. 7kmpl is highly exaggerated and hard to reach even in a diesel The main problem is most of these vehicles are poorly used and maintained by cheap skates Run on poor quality petrol, mileages clocked back. Masked gearbox issues, hidden CELs, skipped preventive maintenance Poor botched repairs on suspension etc So find a good one and u are set for life, or look for another car. Dont try to get the cheapest one in the classifieds. I own a diesel one for ages, looked for a petrol recebtly one, and gave up due to the bad examples in the market. Do not buy a lemon keeping a margin of like 500,000 for repairs, bits are far more expensive and some repairs can only be done by the agents. Instead search hard and find a good car To add there is a marvellous 3.8l petrol variant, tight as a drum and super duper smooth, extremely silent but about 1 mil more expensive
  16. I guess we have a bunch of bike fans here as well, as the topic says I have a bit of a plan to find an average CD200 Roadmaster and do a restoration. I'm totally new to the bike scene so any suggestions, tips and ideas would be helpful. They go for enormous prices in comparison even in horrid shape.
  17. To add, most owners bought them an ran them down with poor maintenance and cheap repairs, Expect locally repaired clutches, faux battery mods, and mostly rotated mileages, Unless you find a solid car with solid history, and willing to take a risk with further depreciation I would not advise you to go for a 2014 Vezel, there is a tendency for it to become a money pit of repairs and go into further depreciation. There Is no scenario where it can come up good for you unless you buy the car about 1 mil less than the market price,.leaving u margins for a new battery and a new dual clutch setup plus a few bucks more for ancillaries
  18. Apparently a colleague told me they are trying to force customers to pay 2mil to full value without the cars reaching the shore, something fishy there, I told him not to agree Especially when they do not have a demo unit, also the price is still not stated. The manager apparently had asked to go see a black import car in a kohuwala sale to get an idea, which is a higher grade, the dude backed off and is holding his ground saying he will not purchase until he sees a car. They also say they've sold some 50 odd units which again is bluff I guess. I wouldn't move any money until I see the car in their showroom, let alone gearbox fears
  19. I think I saw the car in kandy a while ago, looking good!

    D4D Hilux 3.0

Is it a uk Hilux? very common issue, Replace the idler bearings and alternator bearing as well, also look for cracks around the alternator mounts, common issue again causing belt wear and bearing issues
  21. Guys planning on doing some suspension chaos soon, with a lift

Looking at either iron man or arb via their respective agents

    Pricing is almost competitive

Brand and agent  you would recommend?????

    1. MrCat

      MrCat

Is this the front strut assembly + rear springs/shocks combo for a Prajero?

As far as i know ARB does not brand shocks etc.. but they they sell Old Man Emu? could be wrong though.

In Australia, Old Man Emu tends to have a better reputation around shock-absorbers over Iron Man. Not sure about the agent situation in SL though.

  22. Yes obviously it's not the same, no one said that, it was just a heads up. Nissan has had a whole array of gearbox issues, and we've had an array of dual clutch issues in SL, so something to consider before diving into a vehicle right in from the first batch, And lastly we all know how helpful the agent was when the issues kicked in, even for the cars they themselves dispersed. Finally some owners had to make do with Bush mechanics and makeshift garages doing home remedies and owners lost like 5 mil in depreciation in months
