FB keeps suggesting me to follow a group called 'SL DEFENDER ලන්කාවෙ ඩිෆෙන්ඩ(ර්) යක්කු' and yes as the name suggests it's full of cringeworthy retardedness

The current generation has ruined whatever "regard" that the vehicle had. They were capable off roaders and spent their free time with the mechanic but now they've become shorts for instagram with a bus song describing Kim Kardashian in Sinhalese, in the background with a lot of shaa, sira, adoh, ganing bung comments. Not forgetting the loss in regard to driving etiquette on the roads when driving these. They go swerving with horns, lights assuming its a rocketship with ground clearance, and then get raped by a prius carrying 4 tourists to nuwara eliya..
At times when I see these I feel its time to leave Sri Lanka.

Boiss need help. So my rear two tyres are sort of out of date. Looking to replace in coming months. Any idea about good tyre brand (which is reasonably priced?)
Looking for HT tyres for a SUV 255/60/R18
-
If you are not after brands;
I've used Maxxis, Federal, Nexen, Nankang- in various vehicles with various sizes. Never had any issue. Would buy these any day even if I owned a rolls royce and if they made a tyre for that!
Used Cooper, Continental, Dunlop Enasave- Very fragile, patch prone, but comfortable
Once used Evergreen - a chinese tyre, to my surprise held up very well for ages on an SUV, but very uncomfortable.
Bridgestone- Hard in my opinion but no issues.
Good year - average

I have used the Liqui moly purge, plummed in directly to a common rain engine, huge improvement in smoke, power and engine noise. Unit#d Mot#rs recommends it like every 50K km.
Also have used their petrol "injection" cleaner and "injector cleaner". Both improved throttle response on different cars.Usually all additives have corrosive effects thereby I use them sparingly. like every 50,000km or once I notice power loss.

Hey folks.. I need some help from you'll. I'm looking to bring down an interior part for my rexton (front dome light assembly) as 1 function is not working. Any reliable source to shop (used or recon both are fine with me). Note that I could not source the part neither in Ali nor ebay
Also didn't check with any local sellers who might have it either. Even if you know any local seller do let me know please.

A certain agent quotes 18.4mil for the new Nissan Leaf, under the foreign remittance permit 🤣🤣
-
Issue is, say one of us got a nice EV back in 2019, by now we'd be in all distress either trying to shed it or looking for a battery. The same would occur if anyone ends up with one in this day and age. I wouldn't trust any agent with an EV here, esp for north of 18mil. The cherry on the cake is that all the grey importers are all ninja on the EV permit as well!

If anyone wants BMW or MERC parts let me know. I moved to Germany. Rare parts can easily be found here

I wonder what will happen to the rather optimistic nissan leaf pricing now...
-
During the time when I owned one (AZEO), they used to deplete 50% capacity in like 3 years with very marginal use and very few fast charges.
Given that you buy a car with a replaced battery,
Lithium batteries are banned now, the prices will nosedive further.
Sad scenario for the ones who brought them in panic. This will affect the latest model ones as well unless the govt. gives some concession.

Tucson 2012 or Rexton 2008/2009 model ? both are diesels which one is better and reliable?

I like how there's a bentley steering wheel for sale in the ad section.

@fiat fanthis should be the quote of this year!!!

True, as the tariff hike is here to stay, honestly unless there is no fuel crisis, EVs are a bad idea here, especially the new ones with larger batteries. Going solar works but, solar for an EV is a a much larger requirement than solar for a household. So with the starter cost, it must be cheaper to stick to fossil fuels unless you really love the environment. Then again, our grid sources are not that green either.

Has anyone done any audio build with car Nakamichi speakers or other hardware ? Are they as good as their home sound kits?

While carrying a Nightbreaker bulb in my hand my hand knocked my hip and the nightbreaker fell into the water.. I dried the nightbreaker in the sun.. Will it work now?

Go for LEDs off a good brand, they have the color you like and the lumens to light up the road properly. And batteries last longer as their draw is drastically reduced. You save on the long run,
Newer models light up the chamber just like the halogen bulb so there are no issues with light scattering

Bits would gradually corrode and give away, night breakers are pretty much overclocked or tuned bulbs that run a bit brighter than standard bulbs, they normally last like 2 years with standard usage
Now they are kind of phased out during to the led influx.
I had a them in my hilux and defender
Usually after wading, the fog light bulbs which were night breakers used to give away in a month or two, those days the bulbs were like 2500lkr which was a decent buck, a pair so I did give attention to cleaning them and drying them out if I saw water ingress in the lights.
They never lasted, while the Headlight bulbs managed atleast 2 years.
This was the early 2000s and the led fest had not begun.
Now I have light bars which get soaked regularly, nothing happens!

what are your insights on purchasing a evo 4/5 or sti 4/5 probably a conversion? How about the durability of the parts and how difficult is it to source parts? Is it a good decision as im planning to use it as a daily and roughly do 1500km per month..
-
Also do consider the wrx sti pool, due to sheer numbers of converts you can get a properly done car.
If you have the funding and money why don't you get the conversion done by yourself with supervision from one of the convert gurus
That way you won't cut corners and they ll handle the legal work, and we ll have a build thread to read
