  1. Thank you very much Nishan.dj.
  2. Hi Does anybody know where I can buy some sand blasting sand for a small personal project? Regards.
  3. As far as I know (from experience with VW and Audi) Diesel Euro cars have better fuel consumption figures than comparable Japanese ones. At the same time better performance too partly due to common rail technology. Cars with Common rail engines are supposed to be driven at high speed frequently in order to avoid carbon build up. Highway driving is ideal for this. They should not idle at home for long. That is the main cause of engine problems. So unless you use it as a daily ride and at the same make it a point to drive it at high speed, it would be asking for trouble. just my two cents.
  4. I used to visit Germany quite often. On an emergency I get a friend to ship them here. A lot of sellers on U.K. eBay are willing to ship directly here. But parts are more abundant on German eBay (and other places ). Actually ever since I manage to source parts at a price cheaper than Toyota parts of a comparable model.

    Rust converter

    Thanks Crosswind.
  6. This is not directly related to Porsche but VW. I own a VW Transporter and bring down spare parts directly from Germany whenever is necessary. The agent costs in general 2-3 times as much as direct import. For example clutch kit + flywheel costs around 400000 from the agent whereas I brought them down for only 80000. The independent workshop that you mentioned use Chinese no-name parts sometimes which I don't like. Plus they messed up with my vehicle even though the charge was quite high. If you own a vehicle from VW group you should own their Elsawin and Etka software. That way you can get yourself familiar with components of your car and related repairs. Actually I do most of repairs on my vehicle by myself now. This is the final outcome of being ripped off by all major workshops out there!

    Rust converter

Does anybody know where I can buy some rust converter? The few places I already checked with have even never heard of it! thanks in advance
  8. Could somebody tell me the contact details of a good independent mechanic for Volkswagen ? What are the places to buy genuine VW parts? I have bought a 2008 VW transporter cab. Thanks in advance.
  9. Hello there, When I said 'first hand experience' I meant it. I have a close friend of mine who is practically blind (cannot read a single character on the test chart) with one eye. He was able to obtain his driving license without any issue here in Germany. Needless to say he had to go through additional examination than regular to prove that the good eye can compensate. In the process he got to know many others in the same situation and he shared the news with me. So this is not an isolated incidence either. Therefore this is a real life concrete fact! No amount of your google searches can disprove it! Example of cricket was to stress the human body's ability to adapt to the nature's demands as several others too did on this same thread, which apparently you fail to comprehend. But I know this is my personal experience and others might not find it so useful. Hence '2 cents'. But it seems your google searches are worth 2 millions to you. I don't want to argue about my '2 cents' . I am sure you will find somebody else to argue with about your '2 million-worth' google searches. .
  10. I know from a first hand experience that monocular driving is allowed in Germany, a country with most strict rules and regulations. This is true for the whole European Union and applies to the US and and Canada too I believe. As the previous posters mentioned it is just a matter of adaption I think. I know of a friend who was very good at sports like Cricket and Table Tennis but was blind in one eye by birth. He played for the junior cricket team of one of the leading schools in Colombo too. Just my 2 cents
  11. Perhaps he is doing 'drop shipping' sales. That is, he does not actually stock the items but the parent seller is shipping for him from China.
  12. I used to live in this area 5-7 years ago. I always felt something suspicious about this place. I had the feeling I did not get the amount of petrol I paid for.(as compared to Jubilee post petrol station for example, which by the way I found to be a genuine place at that time) The very few occasions I have been there I saw the owners/workers in heated arguments with customers and owners theatening them! I avoided pumping from this petrol station after a couple of times. Now this confirms my suspicion. Thanks for the post.
  13. I saw them in last year's Frankfurt International Auto show. They looked gorgeous. But don't know about the performance. Find below two photos I took there.
