  1. The paddock at the Circuit de Catalunya has been alive with racing faces and personalities as the European leg of the Formula One season kicks off.World Champions Sir Jackie Stewart and Nelson Piquet were joined by Keke Rosberg and rejoined by Niki Lauda, now recovering after a recent shunt involving a trip over his pet dog. Rallying champion Carlos Sainz was also in evidence, as was motorcycle legend Randy Mamola, while other familiar race faces included Riccardo Patrese, Malcolm and Elaine Wilson, Luis Sala, Daniele Audetto, Dave Spence and Emilio de Villota, together with R*D B*LL's debutant reserve driver, Brendon Hartley, who made his first official Formula One appearance. 2. For the 2009 season, the FIA are making public the weights of all cars ahead of the race start to help give an idea of relative fuel loads. The cars that made Q3 are weighed after qualifying, while the weights of the remaining cars must be declared by their teams shortly after the session.Below is the provisional grid for Spain with each car's weight. 3. Drivers: 1. Jenson Button (Brawn GP), 1m 20.527s; 2. Sebastian Vettel (R*D B*LL), 1m 20.660s; 3. Rubens Barrichello (Brawn GP), 1m 20.762sQ: Jenson, out in the very last minute of Q3 and what a lap it was.Jenson Button: It could have gone very, very wrong. We timed it quite well I think. But then I had (Robert) Kubica who I thought was on an out lap and I had to let him past when he caught me up. The guys said you have got four seconds in the last sector. Four seconds is slower than a proper lap time to get across the finish line, so I had to get a gap as I didn't know if he was going to continue and Read More..

  5. McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen and Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen on crashing out of Q1; Williams' Kazuki Nakajima on just missing out on joining team mate Nico Rosberg in the final shootout; and Brawn's Jenson Button on how his last-ditch effort secured his third pole of the season. All ten teams and 20 drivers report back on Saturday's action… Read More..
  6. Brawn GP's Jenson Button crossed the finish line with two seconds to spare to start his final qualifying lap on Saturday. It gave him pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix, after he completed it a tenth faster than R*D B*LL's Sebastian Vettel. The Englishman had played second fiddle to his Brawn team mate Rubens Barrichello in Q2, and the Brazilian himself had been pipped for fastest time by Vettel when Button just made it over the line for his last run... 7. Ferrari's Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen set the pace in Saturday morning's final practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix, but it is still likely, given a half second margin over Jenson Button's Brawn, that we have yet to see everyone play their true hand.Massa lapped Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya in 1m 20.553s - way faster than Raikkonen's 2008 pole time of 1m 21.813s - and the Finn managed 1m 20.635s. Button's third best time was 1m 21.050s, with team mate Rubens Barrichello fourth on 1m 21.163s. Read More..
  8. Technical directors: Ross Brawn (Brawn GP), Aldo Costa (Ferrari), Patrick Head (Williams), Pat Symonds (Renault)Q: Ross, would you like to start on the overtaking situation as you and Pat were on the overtaking working group I think. Ross Brawn: No, I wasn't. Pat was. Our drivers are reporting that the cars are easier to follow. They have still got an imbalance when they follow other cars. But the cars are easier to follow... 9. While Brawn GP's Jenson Button dominated Friday's morning session, Williams' Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima led the field in the afternoon. The leading teams and their rivals reflect on their early progress at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya and review how their new developments for the Spanish race are faring… Read More..
  10. Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima set the fastest times of the session - and of the day - for Williams in second practice in Barcelona on Friday afternoon. It was a relatively inconclusive end, as some other fancied combinations were clearly not running at their fastest. It was thus difficult to draw any hard and fast inferences from an important day on which everyone tried out their new aerodynamic packages.Rosberg, who stopped on the circuit right at the end, beat Jenson Button's morning time of 1m 21.799s in the Brawn with 1m 21.588s. Nakajima's best was 1m 21.740s. Fernando Alonso also dipped beneath it for 1m 21.781s for Renault. Read More..
  11. In advance of the worldwide release of the highly-anticipated motion picture Terminator Salvation, Brawn GP have joined forces with Sony Pictures Releasing International to feature imagery from the film on the team's cars over the Spanish Grand Prix weekend. Terminator Salvation will be released in the US on May 21 and globally from May 27. The BGP001s of Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello will carry the distinctive Terminator Salvation imagery on the rear wing throughout the Barcelona meeting... Read More..
  12. Jenson Button redefined the ante for the first practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix in the very last seconds on Friday morning. Just as it seemed that Jarno Trulli's 1m 22.154s for Toyota was the benchmark in a session notable for tight times, Button became the only man to dip below 1m 22s with a lap of 1m 21.799s for Brawn GP.BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld also jumped up the order in the dying moments, as laps of 1m 22.221s and 1m 22.658s lifted them to third and fourth... 13. Not much has irked Brawn's Jenson Button this season, as his three victories and a third place have left him with a lead of 12 points in the championship fight. But there is one thing the Englishman is keen to set straight.“A lot of people talked about our strategy in Bahrain winning us the race, but while that was good, I think the key moves were me overtaking Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton on the first and second laps. Those first two laps were pivotal. Without that, I think we would have finished third. We definitely didn't have the quickest car there... Read More..
  14. 15. Drivers: Fernando Alonso (Renault), Giancarlo Fisichella (Force India), Lewis Hamilton (McLaren), Nick Heidfeld (BMW Sauber).Q: Nick, how do you turn around the massive disappointment in Bahrain?Nick Heidfeld: Well, I think the position obviously was quite poor for the team. We could have performed stronger from our pace but it still would have been difficult to get into the points. Unfortunately we both had to change our front nose as we made contact with some other cars in turn one... Read More..
