    Porsche 944

If its the white/red 944 driven by the Chinese gentleman, don't touch it as it's conversion is horrible. Ajmal apparently sold it then for 800k. It was at a garage known to me and it had more problems than you can shake a stick at. Whatever the price, its not worth it as the floor pans are rusted, the engine has seen better days and parts are hard to come by even in Singapore. If you want to bust money, there are better cars out there.

  3. I agree with you, take the car, especially since its a CVT tranny to Stafford. My freind messed up by doing the oil change at a corner store service station and the car was not pulling at ll, hot or cold. Don't waste time and money, get it done by the Agents who know the car best.
  4. I am no expert on Hondas, but a friend of mine had the same problem, dude, you will have to check your Multimatic oil. If you have not changed it you will have to change it and no matter wht you do, DO NOT put anything but the Multimatic oil as normal Dex 3/4 will kill your g-box and you will have to fork out about 50k, best advise is take it to Stafford ASAP. FYI, my freind had to change th B-Box and it cost 65k on a 2000 VTi EK3.
  5. Couldn't agree more. Not worth the money and the trouble. The import restrictions plus the conversion will kill the car and its value. Better off going for a high end car here or importing one from the UK or Australia.

    Aston Martin Db9

Hi to all those who are too concenred about the Aston's owner's moral values... Dudes, he bought the car for his wife! Not some other woman, not as a bribe. And the fact that she did not ask for some 'red sports car' and asked for a Aston instead shows she knows her cars. So give them credit, wish them well, and be proud that someone in SL has the balls and the taste to bring down poetry in metal instead of the standard Merc or BMW or Jaguar. I have heard the exhaust note of a DB9 at full throttle in UK once, and I tell you, it cannot be from a man made machine! Appreciate the metal, not the flesh!

Hey, maybe once, it is hard earned money. At the end of he day, its his money, his CAR, and his consience. If he can sleep well in the night, then who are we to judge. Only thing I am annoyed now is that his gift is a hard act to follow now. Man, what the hell can we get our partners now!!!!! I dont think even a bling necklace will cut it, he he he. Good one Dilshan! Now the men of SL are really up the gum tree!!! Shall we keep the gift part a secret in case the women of our lives find out.

yeah, its the dude's money. If he can afford it why not, sure the GOSL would love the tax on that. But when it comes to showing off to the rest of the population I think the wealty Sri lankans can't be outdone. They buy a merc that is available all over the world and the throw a cocktail to show off, like messrss 'you know who'. Don't get me wrong, the DB9 is my dream car too, but the way this country is going, dude could do wonders spending that on the poor people and charity other than showing off his wealth. Wonder if anyione approaches him to ask money for a worthy cause, if he will be so generous? Bill Gates with all his money drives a Toyota as an everyday car and he gives more to charity than all other corporates put together and he still gets richer!. Our rich fellas should learn from him.

Ado, but who has brought it down? Must have cost a packet. Retail in UK alone is 110,000 Sterling. Thats serious money, forget the BHP. Its like having a race horse in an apartment.

    Who has brought this down??
  13. Thanks machang. Yes it is the white civic at Warren's sale. I will call the numbers given to me tomorrow. Initially when i started looking I thought I might be able to score a good condition Civic for around 10, but now looking around I am thinking that realsitically I should be looking at about 12-14. Thats steep fpr me. So like i said, will save a bit in the next few months and put in a bigger deposit. Thank you all very much for the help and the advise givem. Appreciate it very much.
  14. Sorry for being ignorant, but where is Autoforce?
  15. Yes, seems that way, I guess I will have to save up a bit more and go for an EK3 bit later in life. Ha ha. THanks all for helping me. Guess its the 'ol reliable' for me till then. Anyone has any ideas how to crank up the horses in a 121????
  16. Fellas, I just got back after checking out a EG8 in Kotte opposite the Naga Viharaya. Sale wants 950, offers have come up to 885. Car is in about 65% condition as lots of loose panels and what not needs to be done. Doors are creaking and putting up resistance when trying to close. Also the engine is a VTEC-E and the sticker at the back say ETi. Whats the story there?
  17. yeah that fella is a dick and his opinion is taken with a pinch of salt. As for squeezing out all the Hp i can, its not about being better than the other guy, its all about having a great car that can perform well, considering the local road conditions. We dont have a road good enough even to test the max speed of a standard car. Apart from the drags. The last time I hit 165kmph was on the 100 foot road in Sooriyawewa and that was also risky coz of the buffalos. The effing SL cops dont have a clue as to what the real speed limits are, one day its 60, then its 50. I have been charged on the Elvitigala Mawatha once for going above 50 and then another time 70. SO who is right? Refused to pay the fine and went to courts and managed to get off both times as the cops contradicted themselves. Its actually 50 FYI.
  18. I am actually not a cosmetic enthusiast. I am looking for the real thing. I have seen stealth mods that betrays none of the power in the car to the outside. So I want to take the EG8 Vti and throw everything in and just keep it plain and simple outside. As far as I am concerned all the plastics bits and pieces just makes the car heavier, not any faster. I will be happy to pull out even the AC and all the plumbing if it means I can squeeze out the smallest amount of HP there. That include, seats, glass shutters, and steroes and anything not contributing to the actual HP count of the car.
  19. Hi Fuxxo, will do. and for those who still like the 'other' fast car, check this link. http://cars.uk.msn.com/News/car_news_artic...umentid=1409769.
  20. Its in Kandy. Dark Blue. The guy who owns it just uses it as it is. No mods at all. His idea of mods is the 'bumper guards' and ugly alloys. It is a 19 - and he is the sencond owner. Claims it is fast though i have not driven it nor seen it up close. But claims its a VTi. The only killer is the price tag. A lot of people I asked sais 12 is far too much. Is it true that the ECU conks after 100k on that model. If thats the case she has done 104,000. For that price, i might as well fork out another 250 and go a for later model ek3. Quite a few on the Observer this Sunday.
  21. Thanks all. Went looking for a few this weekend as few Eg8 were available. But none that seems worth the money they were asking. Might as well wait and see as I am not that much in a hurry. Using a company 121 at the moment and it is quite adeqaute and immensely boring. The power is their on tap. (110 bhp, i think). But then, its not a Honda.... Also, whats the max bhp that can be squeezed out of the EG8 and what will be the main things to look for apart from the plugs and the air flow?
  22. Hi dragster, he wants 12. ut can knock about 20-30. Will it be worth my while? I was looking for a EK3 Vti but they are above 14. Bit over my budget. How much HP can be pulled out of the basic EG8 Vti?
  23. Hi, I am looking at buying a 94' EG8 Vti, manual. Can anyone tell me what is the ideal price to pay for a well maintained car? Also this car has 100k on the clock. Are there any problems that i should expect? Can someonle help me.

    Mag City

Hi, Macro and Mag are both over rated. A friend of mine took his N16 for a tune up and they (Macro) did everything but change the engine and the car was still missing and buring too much gas. Then he took it to Mag to change the Air Flow Sensor (imported from Singa) and they refused to change it saying that you have to buy the part from them to change it. Finally took it to Siebel garage in Polhengoda and they not only found out why the car is burning rich, but saved the trouble of replacing the sensor, which was fine. For those who have the 1999-2001 N16, take the time and extra effort to carefully remove the lambda sensor on the Ex. Manifold (when its cool) and clean it with petrol and soft emery paper. It solves most of the high fuel consumption issue. When doing that, make sure all plugs and filters are cleaned or changed, and its a few hour job even a basic car buff can handle. Take care when removing the lambda as the metal sometimes is very brittle due to heat damage. Don't unnecesarily change the sensors as most sensors are messed up due to sold build up coz gas in SL is crap. Just clean and see. thanks
