Refurbishing pads should be left for pads that are hard to get or unavailable locally. Not for pads that are available, even at a higher cost. These are brakes after all. The reason I agreed to get the Alfa clutch plate refurbished was the info given by the local 'experts' claiming Alfa clutch plates are Unicorns. Later once the deed was done, I managed to source them for 1/3rd the price quoted by the locals.

There a few good established places that do the job properly using baking methods. Not super glue.

My Alfa has a re-pasted clutch and I have been trying my level best to burn that bitch up so I can replace it with the new one Tho Don was kind enough to hand carry. It was a local paste job and this is not the first time I have seen or used a re-pasted clutch plate or brake pads. (Not personally, but know enough people who do so, safely)

The SR20 can run forever if looked after well. 500,000kms is not unheard of. The US G20 forums are full of such cars.

If you do find one, please note that the mileage you see will not be the correct one. It is easier than farting in a pool to change the mileage. Mine had '145000' when I bought it... A*W records showed a whopping 453000 at their last service which was 3 years before I bought it in 2007. The reason I unloaded mine was after another 3 years of use, it started to burn off to much oil and I was not in the mood or emotionally attached to that car that much to rebuild the engine. The tampering with the Odo meter now is at plague level and it is really sad to see than even seemingly decent people who claim to be doctors or lawyers or even senior bank executives ask their local maka baas to change the clock before slapping on some 'sale paint' and selling the car as a low mileage 'Doctor driven' car.

The P11 is not exactly a large car. and the SR20 is quite the power-plant.

I dropped in a 3 inch turbo back on the Foz and I saw some amazing fuel figures... it was doing 4.5kmpl with stock set up. With the de catted TBE, i got 5.25kmpls... was over the moon. Imagine, 750m per liter more just by that. Awesome! Ele kiri maxxa!!!

No worries. Best thing is to find one of those small joints and get them to do. At least you can tell them what to be done. I have such a place in Mirihana. Guy who owns the joint does most of the work also. Very kind, gentle and friendly type. Loves his cars. His personal set of wheels is a P11 so that says a thing or two about his love for fine cars.
