  1. Folks, peanut butter works well for the faded plastic. I have done the car wash after few hours and the plastic parts looks like brand new.
  2. there are some youtube videos for peanut butter, I am not sure whether it washes away after the car wash. Will try it tomorrow and let you guys know.
  3. Hi Dudes, The plastic part under the windscreen has been mis-coloured due to some chemical at the polishing and I want to restore it back to original black colour. What are the good product for it and where can I buy it? I heard that peanut butter is good for this Any ideas? Is this product available in SL; http://www.carcleaningguru.com/product-reviews/meguiars-ultimate-black-plastic-restorer.php
  4. They will not issue numbers with letter combinations that has meanings. (Same as Now they don't issue plates with total coming 13) e.g. ASS, SEX,
  5. don't left your vehicle in a service station, some novice people put pressure water gun to engine, this will cause some sensors malfunction
  6. Compared cars: Toyota Corolla 121 Nissan FB15 Nissan N16
  7. Wrong: Prius is not slow, it has better pickup and pulling power. Can compete with any other 1500cc engine normal car. I have driven a prius and it's pleasure to drive than other cars because it's quite, comfortable and better ride.
  8. Dude, 5W-30 Mobile is available in Pachikawatta. It's Rs. 8000 for 5L can I can't excatly remember the shop name, it's a shop on left hand side (same side as Tower hall) and after 20 shops from tower hall, exact middle kind of position. (near to samarasinghe windescreen) Actually couple of shops had the same oil Just walk and check
  9. It's a good car, very fuel efficient and economical. Long run it can do 16Km/L. Nissan FB15 max 10Km/L.
  10. KDH201, turbo diesel 3000cc: City: 8Km/L with AC Highway: 12Km/L with AC It has 70,000KM in ODO meter and no black smoke at all even at the emission test center with very high revs. If you have bought your van from a car sale, most probably ODO changed.
  11. You should easily get 8KM/L in a 3L diesel engine in City driving and 12KM/L in long distance. Are you doing hard acceleration and lot of breaking during driving? Are you an aggressive driver?
  12. Just to give you an more plus points in Honda Insight: 1. It can be used as non-hybrid car as well. (by turning the eco mode off) 2. It has S gear which put to car to "Sport" mode which is real fun to drive. With the S mode, the car is having high rev, awesome pickup and pulling power which I haven't experience with any of the car I drove. and can compete any vehicle on the road. I just try S mode in trip to Kandy in hill roads and it was awesome to drive, very pickup, very easy to climb hills with load and AC. The fuel consumption is not bad at all with S mode. (around 15Km/L ) I would see this "S" gear is real benefit of having HOnda Insight over a Prius if you are considering about performance in some situations.
  13. The same news was there in today's Sunday times, govt is going to restrict import of vehicles by individuals.
  14. I have used both cars. Below are my experience. Toyota Prius : Pros: more head room for back people, more luggage space, better fuel economy in Traffic Cons: Dash board design not user friendly, very little information display in dash board, not appealing looking as HOnda insight, Battery failure you can't move the car Honda Insight: Pros: Very informative dash board Better looking Better fuel economy in long run, I was able to get 28Km/L from Beruwela to Colombo at night drive, In case of battery failure you can drive it as a normal car. Very fun to drive for long distance. (not in traffic) Cons: Lesser head room for back people lesser luggage room Bad fuel economy in traffic driving. (best I got 17Km/L in Colombo). But for prius it's doing 20Km/L in traffic you can feel the engine on off in traffic. But prius this is quite. Engine switch over make vehicle pulling difference. Not observed in Prius Conclusion: I will go for prius since I am heaving using it in Colombo driving in traffic. But Honda insight has better demand than prius these days.
  15. Hi Mate, Don't worry about the colour. Peoples taste are different and you can see very funky colour cars in red (pink, light green, yellow, red, blue, brown etc etc). There is good market for these cars as ladies mostly like these colours. When you are reselling this car you can sell it easily than more common colours good luck with new purchase
  16. Doctors and ladies are the worst car carers. Doctors - don't have time to even wash the cars. Don't care about the clean. Run months without washing and cleaning. Ladies - very bad in driving, using lot of breaking and don't know how to change the gears. Scratches every where in the car. Not cleaning the car properly.
  17. Not sure, few weeks back I contacted Lankadeepa Lahipita advertisements and those were the rates they offered. As I can remember maintance below Rs. 3000 user has to bear. Everything else the rental company take care.
  18. Toyota Prius 3rd gen: Rs. 95,000 per month 2nd Gen: Rs. 90,000 per month Honda Insight: Rs. 90,000 per month
  19. Get the parts from M* Oragnization or G* Auto Pachikawatta, they have the same part much cheaper than company price.
  20. good price. Anyway, you can't rely on the ODO meter as there was no JAAI or Auction sheet or any other certificates for these cars. Probably the first owner might have bought this from a sale. As per my experince most of the cars in sales are ODO changed. Once I bought a FB15 from a sale from Paliyagoda and it had only 29000Km on the ODO, but I had to replace cv joints, rear hubs after 10000Kms. those repairs normally comes after 80,000Kms. Check service records, then you can be satisfied. I don't think you get major engine problems for petrol engine for more than 300,000 km if it's properly maintained.
  21. I know one of my friend put his unregistered vehicle to sell to this place in Malambe, they asked him to reduce the price and display, he put the vehicle there for 1month and didn't get a single call. Then he took the car and put couple of adds in internet and news papers and sold the car. Later he found out that some scratches in the car wheel cups and buffers and had to repaint those and replace car wheel cups. Also I have gone there to buy vehicles, most of people get into your car, close the door hardly and do what ever things that they can do.
  22. How much was the quote? I got Rs. 55000 for Rs. 35 Lakhs from MB*L. If you want the contact person I can give. It was a comprehensive cover with all the natural disasters and terrorism etc etc.
  23. Machan, use 5W-30, it's the ideal oil for Sri Lankan conditions. Available in Pachikawatta shops.
  24. 1. Swift (japan) 2. Passo 3. March
  25. 0w-40 should be better than 0-20w
