  1. Regarding the Honda, My mechanic has the same sentiments in terms of reliability, maintenance, as well as fuel economy, How much did it average on fuel? was it an automatic? i am presuming the engine was 2000CC
  2. @Clark's son, i could not agree with you more. Some of the by lanes i come across in, deep in the heart of Colombo, is ridiculous. Even recently, the bottom of my car ended up getting damaged, thanks to a massive crater in the middle, of the road, And mind you, i am currently driving a mazda 323 which has a decent amount of ground clearance for a car.
  3. Guys, these were only the practical aspects.. but i have really wanted to own an SUV for the longest time, and now i have got the chance. Also, what can you tell me about the Honda CRV RD5, i got some feedback mentioning that it is a good jeep? and even good on fuel when compared with Other SUV's Have any of you used this vehicle?
  4. Here are the reasons why: For daily office running (So at least should be marginally economical on fuel) I travel outstation a lot on weekends with the family, so i need a vehicle with very good ground clearance Vehicle should be spacious to carry at least 5 people with luggage Should not be too old, at least 2000/2001 model
  5. Guys, so i thought about it a lot and have decided to upgrade my budget to about 3.5 million, since i planning to use the SUV i buy for at least 5 more years. What would be my options now? I saw some Totyota Rav4J's which fit my new budget.
  6. The reason i am a bit concerned about fuel is because the vehicle will be a daily runner. But i have been fairly warned by everyone about the high maintenance costs., best bet would be for me to get a well maintained vehicle..
  7. My mechanic told me that finding spare parts will not be an issue, and that the maintenance costs will be high. But overall the X trail is a good vehicle. So the hunting begins....
  8. Well when you put it like that... but i get your point.. hmmm decisions decisions..
  9. Hmmm all in all, i guess this is a choice, i don't want to go for a diesel which is too old, and i don't have a budget beyond 3mil. so i think i am still going to go ahead with the X-trail, its a decent SUV which i can afford. Maybe i will consider going for a manual, since i am sure it does at least 7kmpl if you keep going at minimum revs..
  10. Any idea, if the manual version does any better in terms of fuel? at least 8?
  11. Had a look at the CRV RD1, seems like a decent SUV, i like to looks as well.. can someone tell me more about this vehicle?
  12. Hi what can you tell me about the CRV in terms of fuel, parts etc.. had a look at a few including the RD5, seems like a decent choice for me.
  13. Hi, Thanks for your insight. my budget is around 2.8-3 mil (Max), i considered a tucson (2002 - 2003), but my mechanic advised against it. the only thing which has me worried with the x-trail is the fuel consumption, since i want to use it as a daily runner. Any idea about the manual version of it in terms of fuel consumption? I am hoping to get a well maintained one, and i will take my time looking for one. Already had a look at two, and i was not happy with their condition.
  14. Here are a few other options which i am considering. Please share your thoughts Kia Sorento 2004 model Hyundai Santa Fe 2002-2004 models Hyundai Tucson 2001-2003 models Mazda tribute - 2001 model
