  1. Max speed 60mph???? Price 300,000 Stirling??? Driver's window opens so he can pay a Toll??? like as if
  2. that's what you call a "Burnout Barbie"
  3. there is another place in Battaramulla close to Arpico. Small joint reasonable price but work not bad.
  4. why would you drive an old car with faulty breaks at 120 anyway?
  5. Second that! HID (or any other bulb for that matter) fitted into housings / reflectors not designed for them can range from annoying to fatal for oncoming drivers.
  6. Depends on many factors but generally speed wouldn't matter as long as you keep the rev's under a reasonable limit. Half throttle as a rough thumb rule. This however does not mean you should take forever to get off the mark when traffic lights turns green or that you should road hog in the fast lane. Naturally, keep an eye on the temp gauge and it may also be a good idea to change engine oil at the first 1000km after the rebuild
  7. so they actually PAY taxes?
  8. I see Mr. Publis Silva is no longer the only masterchef
  9. Rumesh,at this step if the pedal becomes harder and harder to press at each consecutive stroke (from stroke 2 onwards), does it mean there is an issue with the booster?
  10. Agree. Aparently air bags can sometimes be quite harmful to the occupants who are not wearing seat belts. That's why they are called SRS - Supplemental Restraint System - primary restratint is always seat belts.
  11. sounds more like an electrical issue than anything to do with breaks. As a start may be you should take the car to an auto electritian or a battery shop and check if the charging current from the alternator is ok. It might well be a loose belt
  12. agree with Crosswind - take it to the agents right away before letting anyone else tinker with it. BTW, did anyone direct a water hose at the disks right after a long drive when the disks were still hot? (or did you suddenly drive through a puddle or standing water after a long run on dry road)
  13. A glaring design (or construction) fault of the Armco rail is visible in this photo - it appears that the railing abruptly starts with an upright pillar after a gap. This causes any vehicle which veers off course to meet with a head-on colission with the end of the rail. Proper application at a gap (or start of the railing) would be to angle down the rail with its end buried into the ground, so that any impact with it would not be so severe. The purpose of the guard rail is to deflect vehicles back on to the road - not act as a dead-stop. Looks like either the engineers who designed this or contractor who erected it missed the point.
  14. Highly admire the good and selfless intentions of this gentleman, however in a place like E01 where there is a chance of medical and rescue teams arriving within a relatively short time, it may be best not to move the injured, unless of course there is eminent danger to their lives - like car catching fire.administering any first aid possible in situ, like making sure that their airways are clear, may be the thing to do as incorrect moving of an injured person may make things worse. On the other hand, people flocking around only to take photograpghs of victims is despicable.
  15. story of our lives eh? (or at least of some of us)ain't no sunshine when she's gone...
  16. me no expert but I've seen quite a few documentaries on air crash investigations conducted by NTSB (USA) and on road crash investigations done by Australian police, and they regularly seem to take clues of a vehicle's speed and other parameters by making reference to needle positions of stuck gagues.I'm not trying to worship western countries here but it is reasonable to assume that they may have done some reasearch on these things? And perhaps our SL police know a thing or two as well, either from training or from previous expereince??
  17. I would start by getting the thermostat checked. Next in the list will be the fan belt and fan clutch.
  18. groom getting a heads up on his future;a woman is like a storm - she comes wet and wild and takes the roof away when she goes!
  19. Would have been nice if that were the case but although we all are frustrated of idiots in less capable vehicles speeding, I don't think there is any road in the world which imposes different speed limits depending on the make or model of the vehicle. Imagine how impractical drafting and imposing such a law would be. A less capable driver on a Porsche could equally be a danger to self and others.Different speed limits for different categories of vehicles (i.e. truck and busses as opposed to cars and light vehicles) is common though.
  20. Yep, covering leather seats is not a good idea - they will soon end up dry and crackeled. If waxed regularly they will last a lifetime. Besides, you spent more to get leather seats - why cover them?
  21. Don't be so sure Komi, the gentleman sounds like he does not!
  22. Good write-up. Thanks for sharing a couple of clarifications pl; 1) In Step 3, how do we make sure that water is actually circulating through the engine and not just running down the radiator core and draining off? 2) How do we find out if the engine has cooled down enough to pour in cold water / coolant? I guess diferent engine blocks cool down at different rates and a diesel may take longer?
  23. Ahem.....did you google with your internet turned off?
