  1. Hi everyone Got myself a Nikon D3100, know a little on basic photography techniques but want to brush up on my knowledge by enrolling myself to a photography class and make full use of the new camera. Anyone knows a reputed place?
  2. Yep after jailbreaking(mine is) the possibilities are endless. I even have an app which enables me to download all PAID apps for free. I am not much of an expert on the software thingys, just that i have a very good contact in Colombo who is quite an expert in fixing iphone related problems and software upgrades. PM if you require the contact details.
  3. I am using the Iphone 4, was using the 3gs and upgraded to the 4. Well, the famous signal issue- YES, its evident, when you have your palm over the left hand bottom corner the signal bars come down BUT not fully. It has not been a problem for me so far and not experienced any dropped calls at all. In the first place i never was an Apple fan untill i got the 3gs as a gift, and just fell in love with it. I guess thats why apple products are so populat, it just teases you to use it and once you do, you are hooked on to it. 3gs was a great phone but battery was bad. Iphone 4- leave aside the signal issue, its another great phone. There is no other phone which comes close to the touch interface. As for telephony and messaging- never had an issue(so far). Browsing, simply great, except for the fact that it doesnt support flash sites. Best part- the apps- its such an entertaining phone and once you load your favourite apps- especially games it just takes the phone to another level. Battery too is much better than the 3gs. Would i recomend you to buy one??? Yes i would. Good luck!

  9. After doing a fair bit of research on budget DSLR and coupled with the fact my cousin from Canada asked me what i wanted from there I told her to bring me a Sony Alpha A230. She has got it from there for CAN$470, which works to roughly Rs 50 000. I did not want to go for a high end model as i am just trying to upgrade from the point and shoot user to a slightly advanced level!. Yes the Sony A230 has its drawbacks like no live view and certain issues with the grip being too small. But overall reviews stated its an ideal DSLR for beginners. Rebel XS was in mind but did not want to tax my cousin too much as she is getting me this as a gift!. Have not checked the local prices though.
  10. Hi guys what are the DSLR prices currently after the tax cut? I am not too familair with the latest models, looking at a decent not so exensive model only. Any one can give me an idea of few models and price range? and where to get? Thanks
  11. Read this on Sunday Times yesterday. Thought of sharing with you guys. feel sorry for the guys who bought these vehicles Frustrated owners of 400 unregistered vehicles will file action in court Drivers say they are being constantly hauled up by the Police for using unauthorised cars More than 400 vehicle owners are filing action in the Supreme Court against the Registrar of Motor Vehicles (RMV) for refusing to register their cars. They say their fundamental rights have been violated. The vehicle owners say they bought their vehicles from a Board of Investment-approved company that assembles cars with imported second-hand vehicle parts. The assembling is done in a factory in Minuwangoda. The owners, who claim they are legally entitled to vehicle registration, say they are being repeatedly penalised by the Police for driving unregistered vehicles. They say the police have detained their vehicles, seized their driving licences, and even initiated court action against some of them. The owners say the fundamental rights case application will cite the Board of Investment chairman, the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, the Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, the head of the Registrar of Motor Vehicles, the Director General of Customs, the Inspector General of Police, and the owner of the company that sells the vehicles. Anthony Luke, owner of one of the unregistered cars, told the Sunday Times that he has been desperately trying to register his vehicle, without success, and that his driving licence was taken by the Police and has not yet been returned. According to the Motor Traffic Act, which was amended in 2009, vehicles that were assembled with imported parts before the amendments were passed are legally entitled to registration. In a related development, the Police produced some of the unregistered vehicles in court, although the courts had not charged the persons with any offences. Meanwhile, Motor Traffic Commissioner B. D. L. Dharmapriya told the Sunday Times that the vehicle registrations have been held up because of a Supreme Court ruling that the government will have to take a policy decision in the matter. “Until such time, we cannot register any of these vehicles,” he said. The Supreme Court gave a ruling in early 2008, but the government has taken no action so far. Harsha de Silva, owner of the private company that sells the assembled cars, told the Sunday Times that most of the vehicle owners have informed him about their plight, and that he is endeavouring to speak to the government and resolve the matter.
