  1. Could you be... the most beautiful girl in the world... Photos are copyrighted. Unauthorised usage will be met with great vengeance and furious anger.
  2. Yup. D21 from the 90s. A vehicle like this carrying a 28-sri or a similar 720 registration will be stopped by cops at every junction. Stay away.
  3. * Is AGY 720 means D21? 720 was one generation earlier that D21 * Do I need to worry If it's fitted with d21 chassis? Yes. Because the seller probably told you its "fitted" with a D21 chassis. You don't fit chassis to vehicles. Most probably its an illegally imported D21 with a 720 book. *What are the points that I needed to concern? The above
  4. They (cleverly) didn't allow anyone too close to the car. My guess is this prototype *might* be sitting on an LR chassis.
  5. Oh yeah. I'm not a Land Rover or a 4x4 fan at all. But seeing chassis number 1 of this iconic vehicle is a privilege for any car enthusiast. Its done so intricately and they didnt want to make it look like it rolled off the factory yesterday (which they could have done). They purposely wanted it to show its age. Above the rusty looking surface, there's an almost invisible layer of protection. I videoed it when it moved off the podium. Believe me it sounds like the engine is in a better condition than my less-than-a-decade old Focus (will share the video seperately). As for COVID, the strategy here is quite clear. When you are outdoors, a mask is optional. When you are indoors in a public place, a mask is mandatory. I didn't wear a mask when I was outdoors but did so, when I walked through the palace (this event was held in King Henry VIII's palace garden ) There are some areas where COVID seems to rise once in a while. They go under local lockdown. They do this in an "agile" way My feeling is that media in SL seems to disproportionately blow up events that are happening overseas. But I wont comment on that as the discussion will go on a different tangent Also I feel people in this country have come to accept that fact that COVID will be yet another risk that people need to live with. Its no longer the leading cause of death in UK (it was, for a couple of months). It's not even among the top 10 causes of death anymore.
  6. Is the guy in Pelawatta still in business? I'm not sure if he's a rip off though. I've had my share of bad experiences with the guy in Malabe. Used to go to him when I briefly had a Peugeot. Just kept replacing bits but never solved the actual problem.
  7. The first ever production Land Rover was unveiled after its restoration in Hampton Concours of Elegance over this weekend. Yours truly was lucky enough to feast his eyes over it. Here's an excerpt of its history: JUE 477 was originally intended for His Majesty King George VI but following its unveilng it was dispatched into the Rover Company factory on 19 July 1948, and later found its way to a Northumberland farmer, who used it for many years before abandoning it on the farm's remote moorland, where it spent decades exposed to the wild weather. It was later moved to a leaky, tumbledown stone barn in 1998. In 2017 it was acquired by INEOS and briefly shown at the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall, London. JUE then went into what became a deeply complex restoration, with the aim of retaining as much originality as possible – right to the point of leaving the paintwork in as-found condition, because that represents so much of its history. The restoration was carried out over 18 months in top secret for INEOS Automotive overseen by early Land-Rover specialist Julian Shoolheifer, fully documented by Land-Rover expert Martin Port and authenticated by Keeper Emeritus at the Science Museum, Andrew Nahum. Both gave the fully-restored car their seal of approval, confirming that JUE 477 remains almost as original today as it did when assembled in 1948. Photos were taken (and copyrighted) by yours truly so if you wish to use them in your blogs or anything else, please seek permission. I didn't watermark them simply because I didn't wish to ruin the pics. I trust the regulars here, but vary of lurkers. Knowing our countrymates, some of them might even claim not only they took the pics but they were also behind the steering wheel!
  8. Rubbish. It's a Chinese company (now) which makes its gearboxes in Nanjing. But that shouldn't matter. Mating a gearbox to an engine is something even gamey makabass can do (remember those SantaFes and Sonatas which were mated with Toyota engines?). So a manufacturer should have a little bit more knowledge than a gamey makabass (even if it is a Chinese manufacturer). Even if they source a Getrag gearbox direct from Cologne, they can still mess it up.
  9. These idiots are worried about registering the engine. Did any of them think about "modify the chassis" part? I hope that's just a new subframe and no cutting or chopping involved.
  10. I used their services with an old Mazda butterfly I had. They have a homemade machine that take apart the shockabsorber, refill it with pressurized oil and seal it. In some cases, they will swap your shocks for a set they have already refurbished (if they have in stock). With this type of work, its always hit or miss I guess, but my experience with them was good. The shocks held on until I sold the car after about 6 months (I think the warranty is 6 months) If its an old car, go for it.
  11. wot the pak broh? laksiri... laksiri... not laxary!
  12. In the past month, actual rate of GBP:LKR varied from LKR 232 to LKR 244, actual rate of JPY:LKR increased from 1.72 to 1.78, EUR:LKR increased from 209 to 220. USD is the only currency that has remained stable against the LKR at 185. But we all know the mess US is in. All these rates are from Transferwise and thats the rate they calculate when you remit money to SL. This is despite imports being on hold, currency swap agreement with India and sale of assets held overseas by some local companies. You can imagine what would happen if the country allows vehicle imports. Expect this to continue for a very long time.
  13. @ajnluv69 owned one. @VVTi bought one brand new and owned it for over 2 years or so. I owned a petrol dualogic one (KI-211X ) and the only manual Grande Punto in the country (KN-955X). The latter was part of a leasing scam (some guy imported it, took a massive lease on it, dumped the car and ran off with the money). I bought it after the leasing company decided to give up. Did the repairs on it properly and used it for 6 months or so before selling it off. If you plan to buy a GP, look for the manual one if its for sale. If its properly maintained, go for it. Proper restoration using genuine parts didn't cost me much because Its a much simpler car than the dualogic ones and easy to repair. Many parts were common with older Fiats. Or else go for a diesel Grande Punto. There's also a JR-number older Punto (2005 model) imported from South Africa. That was in very good nick when I checked it around 2015 or so. @jwenn who's repairing your car now? Su*il Ayya, Noel or Indika? I've totally lost touch with the Fiat underworld now.
