  1. Thanks. I'm ok with freeway driving as I drove in US. I guess I'll stick to the slow lane and go for 80km/h
  2. Thanks. I've read that one can be charged for obstruction if they go too slow - is this incorrect/not enforced?
  3. Is 60km/h too slow for the expressway? I was ? wondering if the cops would consider me too slow at that speed?
  4. Is there a way to check if there's a pending fine or anything required to be paid?
  5. Thanks for replying. No I didn't get any ticket.
  6. Parked somewhere along Galle road on Monday and clean forgot to pay for parking. It had one of those electronic parking meters. I'm just wondering if I should do anything. I contacted the support number for tenaga and they seem clueless. They said to visit their office. Does anyone have recommendations? Thanks.
  7. Hey guys. I had a lease on a vehicle and settled it early. The bank gave me a deletion letter. Do I need to transfer the vehicle to myself at the RMV or is it OK to keep as is?
  8. Sorry, I meant specific outlets which were reasonably good.
  9. Sure. Mount Lavinia but anywhere in Colombo is OK?

The ad format is horrible in my tablet. Not sure how it looks on a PC or anything else.
  11. Are there recommended places for testing diesel vehicle emission? I.e. where they focus more on testing the vehicle vs attempting to destroy it? Or is it just random luck?

We are feudal people. We like kings. We like displays of power. All those things you mentioned above which make normal rational people shudder? The masses love all of that. Our brief flirtation with democracy was just that, and is bound to come to an end soon.
  13. Actually you are in luck as I have a Tata. Is quite fine. Had it for about 3 years so far and only thing I've replaced are the wiper blades, aside from regular services. Is kind of fun to drive. Ideal for terrorising tuk tuks, Vezel's and other annoyances. Used to use it as a backup but realised its more fun than a car (and easier/safer) so I use it for day to day driving. The Mahindra's engine is a bit quieter though.
  14. Didn't you notice smoke, stream, rattling, AC failure and the temperature stick going up and finally snapping? Guess not. Sorry for your loss
  15. Probably the alto. Its popular and reasonably well built. At least resale should be easy.

Honda Vezel was declared our national vehicle about a year ago. Guess it fits that magical low fuel consumption plus infinite annoyance potential our motorists seek. You might notice an excess of tuk tuks too.
  17. 700 rpm may be too low for aC. Is the ac idle up working? Does engine rpm increase or decrease when ac compressor kicks in?
  18. Sorry about that. I vaguely remember this. From time to time we have issues importing items with batteries from USA (airline regulations and whatnot). This happens even if there is a tiny button battery in the item. This causes delays from time to time but we are working in it
  19. Currently I'm working with them, yes. No prob, that's cool. Always room to improve.
  20. I'm using a 50d. I should mention I had less than stellar results with a rebel body. If its OK with you could you get the lens and camera over to me one day? I'd like to take a look at both. A few things you could check: 1. Is it a focus issue? Try manual focus / zoomed using live view. 2. Is it IS related? Switch off IS, use a tripod and clear target, sunny day say 1/200 with iso 100. 3. Could be due to the body - try another one? I'm saying this because virtually every time I've had poor results with a lens its been due to those factors. The only time I've had actual bad results due to lenses has been with old lenses (60's, 70's designs).
  21. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, if not please move it and accept my apologies. There is something really wrong with the diesel supplied at the IOC shed near commercial bank borella. I've been filling there for the last few months and noticed a huge drop in mileage (doing around 8km/l with great difficulty). Switched to another shed (non IOC) and immediately returned to 10km/l which is my usual average. I'm not sure what to conclude - either the fuel is substandard or quantity is reduced.
  22. L lenses have their merits, when used correctly they are extraordinary.I would also like to point out that the latest STM lenses are superb. I've come to love the 55-250 stm I purchased recently. Colours and performance is practically on par with 70-200 afaik Those are some nice shots! Love the first one. At the moment my biggest limitation is myself. I haven't used a L yet and am largely drawn to one because of the red ring hive mind :DI will spend more time with the kit I have and cross that bridge when I actually get there I guess
  23. Sorry about that. Some things get delayed due to various reasons like vendor shipping delays, clearance delays etc. Source: I'm working with them these days.
  24. Wasn't this car originally a Corolla or something? Or am I thinking of a different car...
