  1. what a beauty. i went and saw one of these at a car sale in kohuwala last afternoon. obviously it wasn't the sti version, but it was a manual and i was a bit disappointed with its cheap looking interior. i didn't take it for a test drive though. considering looking at one next year. completely OT i know but does anyone on this forum have any experiences with owning this car in sl?
  2. i was thinking more along the lines of people having trouble selling their used cefiros, mark II's, b4's etc. Its a buyers market because potential buyers can always shy away from these cars by blaming the high fuel consumption. you can get great deals on some of these bigger cars, but most end up paying quite a bit more for another car that is not even in the same class. hopefully with the fuel price not being such a huge factor, a larger segment will appreciate these cars more and owners won't have so much trouble selling them. having said that there's still the "resale value" factor..
  3. hopefully this will also mean there will be a better market for vehicles with bigger engine capacities!
  4. get the 2.5 litre x trail. They are brand new imports and most of them are manuals. I think they are 180bhp and will be a good used buy. The X trail GT's are also nice and quick but they come with a CVT box.
  5. I know the owner of the black JQ R34 but I think that car changed hands recently. Out of all of these, 8898 is seen quite often outside pilla. Rare to see any of the others. What about the silver skyline that's always parked in negombo. Isn't that an R33? OT but the V36 skylines are being sold here for over a whopping 10 Mil! Andrew, what's the polthel skyline??
  6. they've just made this new series a cheap imitation of transformers! I don't like the new Michael Knight and the mustang looks way too heavy to be turbo boosting anyway. plus ford is plugged way too much in it. looks like one long commercial! give the hoff credit, he was made to play michael knight. if you're jobless on a sunday afternoon, try watching some of the old KR episodes on DVD. Its facinating seeing the little discrepencies in the stunts but most of them were real and you got to give them props for that, considering they had limited budgets and the technology at the time. inspite of this gripe, i'll probably watch it because i was a fan of the original. i've heard that the episode outline they will follow will closely resemble the original series.
  7. as others have suggested take it to the agents for a look. also i think i saw a P11 at Autof*rce at Kohuwala several months ago with a problematic CVT being fixed so you can try them too. their work is excellent. also have you tried searching online for a gearbox? on the primera CVT found an interesting article about it: http://www.aa.co.nz/motoring/tips/ask-jack...an-Primera.aspx seems as if the earlier models indeed had issues with the CVT.
  8. [quo :rolleyes:te name=Ripper' date='Jun 10 2008, 01:27 PM' post='71853] yep... Nilantha its time you make your case properly man! It's not at all fair to be dissing a brand or a model without giving valid reasons... right or wrong let's get it across so we can discuss it... doubt that he's going to reply. he's done this quite a few times and goes silent when confronted. maybe an fb15 just ran over his foot!

    Headlamp Cleaning

brasso is fine. a couple of years ago i took my car to del*xe a*to lamp in delkanda to polish. all they did was remove the light from the car and use brasso and buff it off with a clean cloth. do this every month and to maintain the shine.
  10. i think pilla said that he had a set of 17" he wanted to get rid of. not sure though.
  11. man if you're going to make blanket statements like that atleast be good enough to justify it.
  12. my take on this whole thing is be very careful when buying any used vehicle with a CVT gearbox especially if there is no proper vehicle service history. most of the time the owners would not have replaced the transmission fluid at all, and those who have would not have replaced it with CVT fluid which causes all sorts of a problems. strange but true that A*W are very reluctant to replace the CVT fluid in primeras because they say once you replace it the gearbox will fail. that doesn't help. if the agents are too scared to replace it and take responsibility, who will?
  13. Machan, please do us all a favour and try to pay more attention to your punctuation and spelling. You are posting a lot which is fine, but your posts are just so painful to read (both in terms of content as well as grammar), it gives me a headache! So please take your time and think before hammering away on that keyboard! Cheers

    Cefiro

sounds good man. it it a touring series model? i think those were the ones that came with bigger rims and a spoiler. not sure if there were any changes under the hood.
  15. same here (touchwood). when i'm speeding with the stereo on full blast i am even more alert than usual. Checking my mirrors, keeping an eye out for coppers or anyone or anything jumping across the road, keeping both hands on the steering and generally trying to be more alert and pre-determining what the traffic conditions ahead are like etc. whereas when i'm crawling back home during peak time traffic, i get lazy and bored and that's when i've had a couple of accidents in the past more due to carelessness than anything else. unfortunately i very rarely see a real stunning lady walking on the road in sl! i must not be getting out enough!
