  1. Audi agents now carry out maintenance and repairs for personally imported vehicles as well. For Audi A5 initial service will be 70K and subsequent services will cost approx. 35K They give you the roadside assistance etc etc. I will be doing the initial service within next month.

I couldn't remember if signing in the presence of a company representative is necessary. The registered owner can sign the power of attorney even when abroad. (I'm not sure if a document signed in one one jurisdiction is valid in another. But once such a power of attorney was accepted for a property matter)

Also, the leasing company has a signed MTA form which they will return when the lease is settled.

If you are signing a document abroad it should be done at the embassy in front of specified official and follow the due process. Otherwise it will not be acceptable. Also such PA should be a recent one as we will not know if the PA has been cancelled subsequently.

Lease companies do give the CR to the bearer of a letter signed by the registered owner. One leasing company had a letter template requesting that CR and the letter to DMT to erase absolute ownership to be collected by a specified third party. (Such as the new owner of the vehicle)

Better ask from the company itself. Remember the registered owner has to sign the letter. If the company is willing to accept such a letter, ask the seller to get a letter signed and posted to him.

Normally such letters are accepted if the letter is signed in front of the representative of the finance company. (When vehicle is sold etc.) Otherwise there is the risk of forgery.

  4. Well M8 no science is required here. It is bloody obvious for even a guy with an average IQ.

But these arguments will not serve any purpose in promoting this vehicle.

Its one thing having all the bells and whistles and its another thing how it works in the real world.

Example : I have driven a Wagon R, Vezel and a Audi which have the collision mitigation braking system. Wagon R and Vezel, its near impossible to drive in Colombo Traffic with it on. However Audi, so far has worked perfectly.

Rs.6-7Mn is no peanuts in present context and to invest in a Iffy vehicle is financial suicide. I do not know if any bank in Sri Lanka will offer 50% leasing to this vehicle.

Dear Quiet, that this is a friendly request for you to inform u that people who use 580 are not donkeys. They may be wrong and be deceived but  If you keep on thinking like that we have to decide who the real donkey is. We should not under value our human qualities just because of a piece of metal shit. You may have seen 1 or 2 vehicles that’s ur problem but I have seen 7 vehicles only in my area!

Seven is excellent, good that you kept a count

    Hi All,

First of all please note that im not from UML or a owner of this vehicle. But after seen the review from Elakiri ,

I got some interest for this vehicle and did some research. So thought of sharing it with our friends. First I have search about the company name DFSK, then got to know that they are the largest truck manufacture for the Asia during past years. And China government hold most of shares in this company. Recently their the one who did largest investment for Car manufacturing plant in Asia , it was in Indonesia, fully robotic automated large scale car plant. They have started to make SUVs in 2015 and this 580 is one of it, they have manufactured Electric model and one model integrated with voice command which not available in Sri Lanka. DFSK 580 SUV fully designed for China , Korea and Europe market, later they have moved out to Indonesia and Pakistan India Asian market. Since they selling this model in Europe market it has fully aligned with European standards, it has Euro 5 engine made in Belgium and Gearbox as well. They got NCAP 5 start rating for safe testing (Crash test, hope you know India Maruti has 0 stars)

which same to new Honda CRV. Currently its selling successfully in Peru, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and UK. Please refer review done in Spanish and you can find other reviews done in Peru , Germany , Italy,  Indonesia, Korea, etc

Ok now we talk about the price , it is selling in Sri Lanka for RS 6,175,000 . According to Government tax regulation if imported vehicle need to do 30 % of value in Sri Lanka (Labor and material) to get import tax reduction. So they are import Vehicle Body and Engine , Gearbox and Suspension separately and Install in Sri Lanka, DFSK company Engineers came to Sri Lanka to inspect this installation work and after their certification only DFSK allow UML to do installation here. All parts are originally import from DFSK apart from front and Rear Buffer and Second Third seat seats cushioning done in Sri Lanka. Even Seat Frame also direct imported from DFSK. All inspected by DFSK and after they make sure all out put are same as Brand new make in DFSK for European market, then  they given their authorization to UML to proceed. If this not done like that and if this Vehicle import directly then according to today tax schema this vehicle will be cost nearly 10 Mil Rupees in Sri Lanka.

What are the negative points, Obviously second hand market. If you think about the time we start to import Japanese vehicle around 70s how people criticize Japanese cars by comparing European vehicles.  Then When start to import  Korean cars (KIA, etc ) how we criticize those by comparing Japanese vehicle. To my understanding whatever happened in future China will take over Vehicle market as well. So Second hand market may change in future.

Other main point is we need to think about the values for the money , We have to spend 6 Mil for this Vehicle for all Latest features with safety and also for 7 seater. If we want to get same feature from Honda , option is CRV new model, then Price? 11.5 Mil in Company , so you can Buy 2 DFSK 580s, then Mitsubishi Outlander, Nisan Xtrail  what is the Price ?. If you compare this Vehicle with Toyota , Mitsubishi, Honda or BMW SUV then it will be totally unfair comparison. There are huge cost  gap between two vehicle, obviously that because this 30% of Sri Lanka values addition, otherwise this Vehicle also will come to 10 Mil range. As same as mentioned in Elakiri review this is values for the Money, This is  what I got to know about this vehicle.

How strange, not an owner and not from UML, and interested in some unknown sh#t. And the write up.

Back in 2013/2014 I traveled daily on a CTB run Micro/Chinese City bus that plied from Negombo to Moratuwa (240/100)  in the morning and evenings. The fare was twice that of normal bus but it had A/C, ample seating and as these are actual buses (as opposed to Leyland shite ) planned to accommodate large crowds even standing was no big deal. The conductor was a young and polite guy who just gave you tickets and never became a pain in the ass - there were TV's playing ads but no retarded music videos from weirdly named bands like purple-flash, sahara butt with  a weed farmer from thanamalwila  crying   his heart out about some random nangi.  People would read, watch a movie on their tablet and it was actually a very nice ride home.  Sadly there was just one bus on this route (there was another 154/100 bus: Kadawatha-Moratuwa) but since there was just one bus and due to a schedule change i had to give it up. Now I don't travel along that route but that bus disappeared about 3-4 years ago. It was excellent while it lasted.  Just Imagine that bus service was more frequent and regular than 1 bus (people actually called the conductor to find the location of the bus back then) imagine how many car-drivers will use public transport.?  SL will start heading in the right direction when we get rid of the Private bus mafia, and the despicable culture of retarded monkeys that has grown around it.

I think that bus was sponsored by Micro. I remember whe it was initially launched we could see peoples legs from outside

This vehicle is one of the best vehicles China has designed ever.Looks Volkswagen Tiguan from the front ,Honda CRV from the side and Kia Sorento from the back. It is a seven seater SUV which is quite specious inside with a feeling of full blown SUV when driving. It is rarely seen in the roads yet , however its road presence is elegant .Its 200mm road clearance is very safe for Sri Lankan roads . It has a 1500 cc turbocharged engine with a Punch Powertrain Continuously Variable Transmission which is made in Belgium . This  engine / transmission combination is very economical comparing  what  same range vehicles has .However you should know how to use this CVT to get the maximum benefit of it since it is not just a regular Automatic Transmission.

Do I smell a doctor from UML doing some guerilla marketing

  9. Hi guys

Simple question, what are the options to prevent rodents getting in to the car. During last two months they have eaten wire harnesses in my car twice. My problem is I cant use any poison pellets as my dogs roam around the garden and garage.

    Thnx in advance

  10. I know few people who do the oil change etc from the agent so that they can put "Agent maintained" but all other maintenance is done from outside with cheap part and duplicates.

I sold my mazda more than one year back with 40K on the clock. Would you believe its now on sale is the fast site with 42.5K reading and agent maintained ? the guy has only run 2500K in 15 months. 166Km per month. Considering the round trip from Kany - Colombo - Kandy for agent service i presume he mustv used the car to purchase bread at Handiye Kade.

So in short, agent maintained is no really something to bank upon.
