  1. Anyone don't have an idea??? :-O Pls try to help me with this...!!!
  2. I'm driving a Pulsar (FN15) and recently I had to replace my engine due bad condition inside the engine block. I think an engine overheating has been occurred before I bought it. :-( Anyway, I had no option as repairing the existing engine seems to be costly than this solution. Anyway I replaced only the engine block with a new one and kept ECU/Manifold, Auto Gear Box and all other accessories unchanged. Now engine runs smoothly compared to before but the only problem is that engine RPM seems to be higher than before at gear shifting. when the engine is in idle, there seems to be no difference. But I feel that I have to accelerate more than before to change gears. The first gear shifts around 20 kmph and the second at 40 kmph. As I am driving mostly in Colombo, I'm running around 40 kmph normally and this tends the gears to be shifted very often. The condition is worse in a road with meny bends :-) Also this leads to more fuel consumption I suggest. One other thing I noticed is that gear shifting can be felt clearly with the difference in speed now compared to before. Anyway, I did not changed the gear box and the engine is surely a same model. So please help me with this to figure out what have happened. Why is the RPM's are higher? Why are gear shifting can be felt? Is this normal? How will this affect my fuel consumption? and specially, How can I get rid of this issue? Is there any adjustment in the Auto Gear Box that me have been changed while in the repair? What is the proper way of changing the Engine Number in the Registration Book to the new one? Will RMV put a remark, that I have changed the engine?
  3. I did a recent tune up on my Nissan Pulsar FN15 @ a reputed place but even after that there seems no significant improvement on fuel efficiency although pick up and drag is good. It does works only around 8 - 9 km/l in Colombo city limits. A friend of mine told me that I should go for a valve clearance adjustment as the mileage is 181,000 km now to improve fuel efficiency. Guys pls give your advise too on this issue; 1. Should I have to go for a valve clearance adjustment? 2. Any place where this will be done correctly? (I'm in Athurugiriya) 3. What amount will cost this operation? 4. Also there is an idea that ' No need tune ups if run with fuel system cleaners frequently'. Is this true?
  4. What will be the best market price for a FN15 Nissan Pulsar CJ1 (Full Option, YOM 1997, Mileage - 177k, Auto, Petrol, Reg No - 302-XXXX, In very good interior & exterior condition) ????
  5. Actually, I don't have a skill & ear to recognize whether the nice from tappets are coming........... Btw, yes the car has an EFI Multi system and as we have done an injector cleaning and tuning due to this issue, so they should be in good condition. Actually, tappets were from agents (According to them from Japan) and according to my knowledge 6 of them cost something around Rs. 25000/- to my father.
  6. I have one more question to ask; Some time before this fault come, the timing belt failed while on the way and as a result we had to replace 6 tappets. We did a brandnew replacement for that. Can this be a fault in the replaced tappets OR any problem caused by using old tappets and new ones together OR any tuning error in those?????
  7. OK, now I have all correct data about the car......... :-) Supra_Natural, you are correct the engine is indeed not 1300 l, it is 1500 l..... Don, Engine number starts with 4G15.... Is this a common engine model in SL? Nilantha & Don, Air Flow Sensor model number is MD178976 Guys, thenx a lot for ur interest & help.......
  8. Thanx Don...., I will try to find engine specs as soon as possible and let you know.......... :-)
  9. Thanx..... Yes, it seems there is no model with 1.3 l engine. But according to my father it is 1.3 l, so I may have to have another look at it............ :-)
  10. Thanx Don.... Yes, I also have heard that MAG City is not a good place but as the vehicle was in Kandy this was the only available place. Also I should mention that we did not took it to ######## for an engine scan. However, we tried to find a recon part for this, which was unsuccessful as this vehicle seems uncommon in Sri Lanka.
  11. Nilantha, thanx...... I will let you know it as soon as possible...... :-)
  12. My father drives a Mitsubishi Libero station vagon which has an EFI engine of 1300 cylinder capacity. Engine power and acceleration of the engine was very good for a 2-3 years since he bought it and it has just completed its 100,000 km now. However, nearly a one year before, when he was driving from Kandy to Colombo a very bad miss in the engine took place at around 110 km and he had to stop the car and after about 30 mins he was be able to drive again but for only about 5 km and again the engine miss was there. But the next morning the car was ok and could drive another 110 km and then the miss comes again. (Seems the problem takes place when the engine is becoming hotter...) So, my father took the car to MAG CITY for an engine scan and their decision was that the AIR FLOW SENSOR is out of order and it should be replaced. According to them, this is the thing which was connected some distance below exhaust outlet. The item was not available in Sri Lanka and agents (########) demanded Rs. 98,000/- to import it from Japan. We gave up that option then and tried to fix the problem with many mechanics but the problem is still there. Also, I should say that, now there is a small miss even when we just start the engine and acceleration is not good as before. Some ideas of several mechanics was; 1. Yes, Problem is in AIR FLOW SENSOR, Replace it...!!! 2. Yes, Problem is in AIR FLOW SENSOR, Can fix it (But we couldn't find anyone who could do it...!!!) 3. No, the problem is in DISTRIBUTOR (or DALCO we call it, isn't it?), Replace it (But, no one was brave enough to replace it and test.... ) 4. No, the problem is in Catalytic Converter, the ceramic mesh inside should be cleaned or removed..... (This actually we can do, but I'm waiting for an expert to comment..) Experts, what is your idea about this issue according to above symptoms??? Please help.......
  13. Guys, wht abt PERODUA Kelisa....? Heard well on Petrol............
  14. Can anyone mention DO's & DONT's with AC in vehicles? I'm using AC in my car (FN15 PULSAR CJ1 1500cc) with; Temperature Controller - Lowest in BLUE area (Provided that my system has BLUE - WHITE - RED indicator. Some have only BLUE and RED triangles going one on another :-)) Fan Speed Controller - Lowest (1) There are four speeds and no AUTO function Air Circulation - Inside This setttings are quite comfortable with me unless there is very hot climate. But many of my friends say that it is not good to keep temperature controller at a medium position and should be set to maximum always. According to them it is because when it is not in max, a hot air path is opened propotionately and which will harm the system when usd in our country. Is there any truth in this? According to my knowledge setting it max, say 18 Celsius instead of 22 Celsius, will switch on the compressor for more period. Controling fan speed will not switch off the compressor as it is controled by the thermostat at the air intake side of the evaporator/ cooler. Anyway return air inside the vehicle should come to set temperature, in this case 18 Celsius, to switch the compressor off. Also, this will badly affect to fuel consumption too, isn't it?
  15. Btw, my tire size is 185/70 R14 Original R13 wheels have been replaced with R14 alloys. I think the original sizes would be 165/70 R13 (Is this correct?) When I was buying this there was 185/65 R14 and later I changed to 185/70 R14. Does this will have a drastic effect?
